Iam not sure what is more disgusting, the greed of companies or ingame players.

I'm hoping for bans to those who duped the items. If Zenimax doesn't adequately punish the wrongdoers, then I won't resub to this game. ESO is a fun game, but I won't accept cheating going unpunished in a game.

This issue is fairly similar to the issue GW2 had at launch.

I don't remember any duping when GW2 came up. Care to give me a link to this?

The big issue in GW2 launch wasn't a item dupe it was the fact that a weapon that was meant to be 20K+ was only like 21 karma so people were buying 100's/1000's of them and just feeding it all into mystic forge constantly went on for a few days and you had streamers like Kripparrian advertising it on twitch so a lot of people were doing it.

[snip]Ironically, the more people that use an exploit, the less the chance of serious repercussions.

This. It would really take some chutzpah on ZOS' part to rollback far enough to remove the dupes. Which means the exploiters win. Sucks.

I asked for a refund from CS and hoping to get my money back. I dont expect getting it back but there are reports in official forums that some people are successful.

Raise enough hell and you will get refunded.

I was crashing so often that the game was unplayable.  I didn't tolerate the tap-dancing from their CMs -- which is the only support I saw -- so eventually they gave in.

I don't blame their CMs for the problems; I feel sorry for them.  They have to placate the customers who are suffering from the effects of a poorly developed game.  But tap-dancing around issues with canned excuses and stall tactics accomplishes nothing.

ZOS should be ashamed more for their business tactics than the poor state of their "released" game.

You do realize this was a fault with your computer, and not any error on the part of Zenimax right?

When hundreds of thousands are not having this issue, the problem is you.

I agree here. I didn't have an issue with the game performance at all, other than some obscene loading times.

They will probably deal with this like other companies - will issue some vague statement that they have banned the exploiters and removed the duplicated items and gold from the game...which will mean they did nothing to fix the economy because the gold was already distributed around.  I have no idea how they solve this - they probably will not.

ONLY way to fix it is a rollback to the beginning, which they will not do.

Most of the players probably dont  even know about the exploit and the rollback is out of the question. To me the game is busted at this point.

Well G2A told me I can't get my money back, so while I won't be playing for a while, their treatment of this issue will greatly impact if I will ever come back to this game at a later time.

I just don't see how they could fix it without doing a FULL rollback.

If it was known during beta, it certainly wasn't talked about much, do you really think we wouldn't have seen it here before now if it was? There are people on this forum that will sit and research where "this game is awesome" phrases came from for advertising. Folks like that would have been all over this. I find it hard to believe something as serious as this would slip through the cracks of forum discussion, why was there no beta discussion thread on it is another pertinent question?

    Ah that yeah, I remember.

That was a messed up patch though that just changed vendor prices.

I think an actual duping problem is much harder to fix.

I disagree with your train of thought.

This dupe just came "out" today.  It has been known about for at least 10 days.

Look at this review. Specifically the day it was published: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1U46C1NVZVAMV/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00I4BGLOG

You know why it wasn't known? Because that review only had like 3 helpful votes and 10 unhelpful ones. It was literally buried. Now it's skyrocketing in popularity as people are shoving ZeniMax's face into it.

STill doesn't mean it was there during Beta which is what I was saying, I'd also urge you to notice the fact the post was updated after first being published.

WHo said anything about it coming today btw? I certainly didn't

Are you one of those people that feels cheated because someone else did something crappy and you feel they have an advantage over you?

Maybe they'll fix it maybe they'll just ignore it like they random strangers on Reddit claim they are.

I'm just now sure how this effects you.  You supposedly bought the game yesterday.  You ran around in the start zone for a few hours and now you need to post 20 times about how some exploit other people are doing has ruined everything for you?

Because this is a PvP game and I will now need to fight against someone that cheated their ass off to get a huge advantage?

Gear in this game isn't a huge advantage. Not excusing the duping, they should be banned, just stating the former for clarity on the matter.

In August 2012 it was possible to use the mail system in combination with the crafting system to duplicate materials.

    http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exploit

In fact almost most populair MMORPG had dupe issue's. Just use google but be warned it also gives search result to tell you how to.

Not to say it's a excuse, but we really have to keep in mind how big this community is and there is a wide difference between differerent gamers, some will just play games to have fun, some can't have fun unless they find some sort of exploit. Sometimes it might just be foolish coding that let people do so.

Personaly I don't understand those who use or keep using dupes when they are know. To me it A: Limits the challenge of the game B: it's simply against my gaming nature.

I am that type of person if a MMO/rpg I am playing is getting a XP weekend I am sad and tend to not play during those weekends. I play what is given so regardless I have played many games I read people used exploits or duped gold/items it made no difference in enjoying the game.

But obviously would like the game company try and fix those type of issue's.

I guess you're probably better off.  Even if they fixed it during the downtime today.  If they found a bunch of players that were duping and holding onto items to sell and they banned them.  How would you know they got them all?  Everything time you died to the attacking zerg deep down you would know that the guy who got the killing blow only did so because he was using a duped level 30 epic sword.

You were definitely better off quitting before you had VR5 2 shot you because the little bolster effect only makes you equivalent of a level 45.

I have never seen a single mmo that didn't have a duplicate bug. Wow had several with some well after launch.
