Why do people consider Wildstar a childish game?

    SO MUCH THIS !!!

When i saw the game and that dumb alien thing selling houses the first thing that popped into my head was Ed Edd and Eddie, one of the most annoying shows that my son had to watch when he was a lot younger.

I want a mature game with mature themes.... no not just boobies, i want some seriousness in my mmoRPG. i am through with the childlike mentality that WS exudes.

    Lolipops !

I think alot of people supporting the game are being defensive by the term childish.  I believe the art style is childish and therefore will not play it.  using the term childish is not saying those that like it are playing a kiddie game, I'm sure the game gets quite difficult.  I personally devote alot of time into my character when I play and prefer my character not to look like something from nickelodeon.  single player games with this art style are fine as I have enjoyed many cartoon cell shaded worlds.  I enjoy the environments I'm in and appreciate the realism of the textures, sky and water effects.

Because pointing out something as "childish," specifically in a negative light, makes children feel more grown up. Sort of in the same way putting someone down makes some feel superior.

The game does have a highly animated style, uses a very bright and colorful palette, and even the music seems to emulate that of a Disney/Pixar movie at times. Obviously the art director is a fan of those movies and possibly has a background in animation. Thats about it. Until the game starts going on about moral lessons on doing good in school, sharing, helping, and friendship, replaces the crude witty jokes for fart sounds and bad puns, and cuts back on the suggestive themes, alcohol, or exploding body parts... the "childish" comments show more about the person saying it than the game.

Well since "childish" is offensive, I've decided that it isn't accurate either. From now on the reason I don't play Wildstar is because it is "Stupid Looking."

I guess you will attribute all kinds of pathology to that but it's really just my take on a video game.

MMORPG players are often like Hobbits: They don't like Adventures

How about saying "I'm not playing because I don't like the art style"?  Not that hard...

Though, I know some people that feel all video games are childish.

Many, you sure knocked that "childish" argument people ALWAYS make down as easily as if it were a man made of straw. Good job.
