But that's really what it is all about right? If the game was F2P then all sorts of people would be amazed with it and far more forgiving of its flaws.
In fact, many would return the minute it went F2P, they just won't pay the outrageous sum of $14.99 a month for it.
Go figure.
Great value in my book so far.
Don't forget about the $60 they want to charge you for the box.
He didn't play it enough and is looking for attention
He played it wrong.
He is (X games) fanboy
Who is angry joe and why should i care?
Anyone can make youtube account and be a critic (well do it yourself then).
He has a moustache so his opinion is invalid.
And so on....
Did i miss anything?
First of all your already too late look a couple posts above yours?
Also if people are having fun and playing why should they care what some guy said?
I mean because he didn't like it means no one should? I mean everyone should at least try it and form there own opinions people rely way to much on others. I mean if everyone else jumped off the bridge would you, don't people remember that old saying?
I mean I understand and people have a right to there opinions good or bad.....
Yet everyone wants the game to go F2P. Every F2P game I've ever played has always wanted to bleed me dry and spend over $500 in the first month to unlock everything. Subscription games just want $40-100 upfront and $15 a month as long as I play...Who's bleeding the gamers now?
I've played and enjoyed several F2P games for free. If ESO goes F2P, I might be inclined to check it out. If I like it a lot, I might even spend some money on it, but as it stands, there's no way I'm paying $60 plus a sub to play it.
And I won't spend a dime in a another F2P game where everything you do in game is a decision between how much time you want to spend doing repetitive tasks and how much money you want to spend ala Farmville with a MMO frontend.
I tired to go back to SWTOR a few times since it went F2P and you know what? All the issues I had with that game when it was a sub are still there and they added a bunch of annoying pay restrictions on top of it. SWTOR isn't a better game F2P it's worse and I can't imagine ESO would turn out any different.
You pay $60 and a subscription to do repetitive tasks. I pay nothing to do repetitive tasks. I like it a lot more when I can try out the repetitive tasks for free instead of paying up-front to do so.
What repetitive tasks are you talking about?
ESO doesn't have quest hubs it has people and places that have problems to solve and a world that shifts when you help them solve them. It's probably the most RPG like MMO I have ever played really. PVP certainly isn't repetitive unless you choose to make it that way.
The only repetitive tasks I have encountered so far in ESO are crafting and gathering and you gain far more XP breaking down times than making them so I'm not even sure I would call that repetitive.
The size of the world, the way quests are given, completed and how the world changes around you just couldn't happen in a F2P game. The motivation to drive you always to that cash shop connivance purchase would get in the way and makes such a game impossible to make any other model than Buy plus Sub.
brb creating my youtube profile HAPPY man and give this game 8/10 when they fix the bugs....
will post there, wait for it !!
Didn't you know that every unemployed person with a Youtube account creating game reviews -and hopes he gets hired by a game magazine sometime- is a very credible source?
Wtf are you on about? He is one of the best reviewers out there, much better than most shitty shits like IGN.
Why because they gave it a better score then this guy so there site is shit? Umm, ok that's not biased....
I enjoy AJ's reviews, most of them are well explained and cohesive. However, when it comes to MMO's he displays a certain lack of understanding how they are made and their goals. He tends to apply single player game criteria to them which are just out of place.
Oh, i don't play TESO. I have the collector edition but current i am in a place where i have no gaming capable PC.
You know, I am really enjoying myself, and though I have my criticisms, I've been able to put them by the wayside and find the good.
Now, having said that, I'd say it's not really "off".
Many of these things are issues. I agree with the comment on some of the voices are in the wrong place (I had issue with that tree voice as well) Some aren't, I don't agree with the resources comment or the pacing comment.
That sigil stone quest was an issue for me as well. Here I thought I was going into "Oblivion" just like in the game "Obvlion" and it was just "one room" in Oblivion.
And "hello, as we are not fighting for our lives" is pretty much 'spot on'. You could be fighting evil and then some npc does something that does bring you out of immersion.
So yeah, the tone of the review is not my taste and I agree with some things and not on others, but I don't think it's "all off".
Still having fun though.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
If AJ would have given ESO a great score, half the people hear would say its spot on and the other half would say he sucks at reviews. lolz
Funny how that works out.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Love this guy!! feelings and shit!! thats the bomb!
This whole Angry thing is just a persona at this point. That is one of the dislikes I have about him. You do not know what his feelings are anymore, because he simply always acts angry about the most smallest thing and it's just acted.
That is Angry Joe being angry.
and that is Angry Joe acting angry.
You can clearly see the difference. Some people like the act, some people don't and my guess is that a lot of people got bored of it.

Great value in my book so far.
Charging 20 dollars for a race in a pay 60 bucks + 15 sub is not fine in my book. I'm neither a fan or a hater or ESO. I just don't think a game with a sub should even have extra pay walls or pay for convenience.
Originally posted by Hariken Great review from what i've heard . And i find it funny how alot of you are calling him a nobody and he sucks. But if he gave it a 10 you woulld be saying how spot on his reveiws are. His reveiws always carry weight in the gaming industry whether you like it or not.
Actually someone mentioned he gave GW2 a 10, and that loses all respect from me on that point alone. There has never been a 10 in the MMO space, and to give a newly launched game one means that the score has no sound basis.
But as for his 5 rating, that sounds quite reasonable actually, I am enjoying it but I can see how some of the PVE issues could drag down it's score, I couldn't put it much higher than a 6.5 to 7 at this point, mostly because I haven't really given the PVP a go yet, that might drag it up a bit for me.
One thing, the PVE might be more enjoyable once the number of people actually dies down. It's not nearly engaging right now when you have to struggle to kill a boss mob amid all the other players in the open world or one of the public dungeons that's totally bot infested currently.
i am 100% in agreement with you. I am totally loving this game and have not even gotten off Auridel (sp?) yet. Hit level 11 last night, until pvp kicked in on a fort which lasted about an hour or 2. I took over a woodmill for my guild (/flex).
How can you rate GW2 a 10 (which was absolutely horrible compared to GW1), when ESO has a shit ton more content and little places to explore, better combat, better story (GW2 does have better dynamic events - kinda sad the anchors are static thus far).
I agree on the phasing though, it is a pain in the ass, and ZOS needs to look into it more, and there should be more guild rewards for holding a keep/farm/woodmill, etc
Still playing, I have a level 30 nightblade hp draintank, and a 41 sorcerer DW pbaoe hybrid dps, and a level 9 bow/CC Templar
Combat only gets more evolved, and my choices and direction for character builds only get more creative.
Quests still engaging. (yes there are bugs. 90% of which are fixed if you log out/in which takes literally 12 seconds... I'm sorry if Exasperated Joe has the patience of an 8 year old.)
I'm sorry if you have NEVER played an mmo on release, but being able to log out and in as opposed to having to wait weeks/months for Sh*t to be fixed is way worse. Those that aren't repairable through logging are few and far between...also not new to mmo's.
Its sad that in this day and age people cant see .50$ a day as a good investment in this game, especially after reading 90% of these posts and noticing that people "don't even listen/read the quests" basically removing half the immersion and lore right there. Granted it has some of the traditional ways of leveling and grinding through stuff, its not meant to be played that way. (unless of course you realize that before buying into it and have an endgame pvp goal or something akin to that- I know several people who play JUST for this reason. cough cough Daoc players :P)
TO ALL THOSE WHO DON'T DIG THIS GAME:
This game is clearly not for you, go play another game.
The game you are looking for spams you w/ kill quests for zombie sheep that involve killing only 7 x the square root of infinity... no big deal.
Gives you epic weapons in your mailbox at level 2.. since it was such hard work getting there. Now you can one shot wave after wave zombie sheep until your eyes bleed.
blocking is for sissies. All characters have a shield slot... for their face! Now blocking shots and rolling over your keyboard will be almost effortless. : D
THIS GAME Power levels you from 1-200 in 14 minutes. 10 of those minutes are spent adjusting the boob slider on your character model.
Crafting.. pshhh who needs that. Everything drops 1000 gold. I buy what I want , when I want. JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE....
-_-
Horses that cost gold and take time to obtain... F**K THAT NOISE! This game gives you a nuclear powered rocket that goes as fast as the speed of light. In essence, you get to the boss in the dungeon before he is even born, and the loot is just sitting there, waiting for you.... it's like taking candy from a baby... literally.
This game also doesn't have words or sounds...because hey who needs that immersion sh*t, its ruining my music
In closing, I'm not a hater and if you don't like the game that's fine. I do think that Flabbergasted Joe makes valid points on other games and can be funny on occasion but I would just like to say, I must be getting old...because I feel like the majority of the people on here are like 12 and never got to experience the growing pains of mmo's and paid subs, which was only washed over temporarily by mostly shitty f2p games as of late.
This is all just my opinion.
-The Skooma Salesman in game ( ESO), feel free to send me some hatemail or a letterbomb D :
Oh man did Joe nail this review. I sat there nodding my head in agreement throughout the review. The only thing I liked with the game was the PVP, but when maps gets wiped, it feels pointless. So aftera while I said f this. Unsubbed. And wont look back until/if they improve shitloads of things. That I can't see happening anytime soon. This game will be f2p in a heartbeat after the first few months... No doubt.
Been a while since I watched an Angry Joe video, a couple of years at least and its nice to see he is still at it. I am not sure why people are getting hyper defensive about this to be honest. He reviewed it and rated it, perhaps you have fan boy syndrome about the game, perhaps (despite the bugs) you enjoy the game, but it doesn't make his review irrelevant.
The guy literally has documented evidence of the failings in this game, stuff which makes me not want to play it. You might go to me 'but its just launched' or say 'that doesn't happen often' but the fact that it HAPPENS is enough to put me off with a purchase. Perhaps once things are sorted I might give it a go, but I have no need to play a game with frustrating and broken mechanics.
Let's hope they sort it out soon, because presently I am just seeing a train wreck of reviews about this game, especially openly from the community. The only positive stuff I see about this game from the community is the stuff people say in contrast to something negative. Perhaps they need to validate their purchase, I don't know but I for one will not be roaming in the world.
This might not bother you, it shouldn't really. You are your own person and if you're having fun, who am I to interject. I have no agenda to convince you not to play, I want their to be more successful MMO's out there! But, developers beware... fix your shiz or you won't even reel in the people on the fence about your game.
Besides the fact that I believe Angry Joe has a deep-rooted personal problem from the manner in which he reacted to the game during his experience playing it, games are meant to be a form of entertainment, not meant to fill a gaping void deep within one's soul.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Personally, this game does everything better than any other game out there. This is a themepark MMORPG, so don't expect the game world to revolve around you. Take it for what it is - There is always EQN to look forward to in 2016, which will be the sandbox of the decade.
I agree with 5/10 for the game in its current state - quest bugs, duping issues, loading times.
if they patch those issues up I would easily put this game up to a 7.5 or 8. They need to fix it pretty quick though or people like me will just move on.
i agree about the horse buying being a dick move too, I have the digital ce and I have that mount but in a p2p game that is f'd up. Every player should be earning their mount in game only.
i like the game a lot, but probably not going to hold me over to EQN like I was originally hoping.
Last time I saw someone post an Angry Joe review here to bash a game a few days later he posted another one admitting that he was wrong in his review and he rated the game better.
I watch his reviews on single player games and, from now on, leave it at that. I mean, seriously, he gave GW2 a 10/10 with a bad ass seal of approval. This review is not more accurate. He really seems to be mad about it being P2P. I prefer it. He really touts the fact that the imperial edition has pay walls. Show me an mmorpg that released with a CE and no bonus for buying it. A lot of his points are just false. I really feel like he didn't play any endgame. AJ included bugs in his review. Bugs I never encountered. Bugs should not be included in a game review. Compared to other mmorpgs (instead of comparing it to single payer adventure games) i think it's very worthy.
Wow, just wow... 30 pages already? and almost 300k views on the video just from this morning.
Fanbois might say they don't care and that video means nothing and yada yada... It surely doesn't seem like that.
this whole thread needs some aloe vera. And this is just one thread of one forum of one website... There are many more...

Hahahaha indeed
Well you can argue if he is or isnt a MMo vetran.
But you cant argue the horible friend/group mechanic they placed in ESO.
You know a "MMO" where you should be able to help your friends in quests.
The ones who have no problem with this game are people that "Solo" and see "mmo" when they do pvp.
Kinda beats the game out the water.

As a former beta tester who did not buy/pre-order, let me say that his comments on the sad state of wanting/needing to group are right on target.
There is no reason to ever group, when not in PvP. And maybe the odd dungeon boss.
It feels very much like a single player game in shared space. And that's it.
One of the main selling points of this game was to "play ES with your friends..." but there is no real point in doing so, most of the time.
I agree with AJ's score and most general points about the game.
