My bot experience

dranaeldranael Member UncommonPosts: 64

So last night I was waiting for my wife to patch the game and decided to do some mining.  I found a great spot I could run around in a large circle and get some iron.

I started noticing players wearing the starter rags with chains on their wrists and feet mining the area.  I didn't think anything of it at first until I saw three iron nodes next to each other.  Then I saw one of the rag wearing guys materialize out of thin air on top of a ore node and mine it.  There was a delay after he appeared before he started mining.

I watched this player vanish and appear standing on the next node a few feet away, then again to another, then again to a jute plant.  Then I started seeing more of these teleporting bots around, always with random names like adfcdb.  So I started reporting them with the F command.  I counted 33 different teleporting bots in the area in about 30- 45 minutes while waiting for my wife.

I would say the bots are just a tad out of hand, AND would like to know how they are teleporting to the resource nodes perfectly without getting banned.

Anyways if you see em, report them with F.  Even if they vanish, if you pressed F on them you can still select report player.  It only takes about 20 seconds to report them.  I just say something like, teleporting harvester bot, and leave it at that.

I predict F2P in about 2 months, with people who purchased it getting a veteran status.
And with these people how they rushed the launch. I also see them adding a shop to milk more cash. Id do a charge back while you still could.

I only plan on playing it for about 2 months so I don't care.  That's a cheap 2 months of entertainment if you ask me.  Not much else I could do for $75 bucks.

Exactly. I have the same plan, especially since Wildstar conveniently comes out 2 months after this game launched, giving     me enough time to hit max level and get my money's worth. I got the Imperial Edition at a discount for only $64, which is the       price of any console game for my PS4 anyway.

The most common theory is that the bots are being left alone until the 30 days are over. The owners will not be able to ask for a refund anymore then and maybe even resubscribe.

So those 33 bots you saw would mean about 2000$ profit for Zenimax.

I understand this part but I don't think Zenimax understands how much negative publicity it means and what this will do to their retention rate.

Agreed.  In less than two months I'll finish leveling my char and all his skill line(weap, armor, etc).  All three of my horses will be maxed out.  My crafting will be leveled.  Then I can drop my sub and comeback if it goes f2p or becomes so unbelievably awesome I can't stay away.

They will not be able to go F2P with the current problems. It is going to take them 3-6 months to fix these things, and to prepare for the F2P conversion. The good news is that by the time they go F2P, the game should be in good shape (i.e. it will be in the state that it should have launched in).

    i was like....fuck this ....i give up...i quit

and they wont be able to go free to play with this model ...its not doable....

and if the pay to play model is bad wait till free to play starts. IT WILL BE SCREWED...why bother go elsewhere move on...

I though I was the only person here who did not believe a MMO is NOT a life time commitment.

I'm starting to wish I had experienced all these issues just so I could empathize with all the angry players.  It's like night and day.  I started on the first day of early access and have experience maybe 1 bug every couple days.  For the last 4 days I've been going through the VR content and haven't had a bug or load screen longer than 5 seconds.  Oh well.  Must be lucky.

and if this is the case they care more aobut money then us players....thus again i'm done with it....

indeshaan there is a zombie that spawns instantly after you kill it i discovered it as i was on mission i noticed 4 guys pounding it iwht those wacky names i went got anther bud who would knock the guy ten feet to me to kill screwing the bots

we did this till they left

problem is they will come back and me and him could get trouble for trying to screw them...

YET its ok for zenimax to wait on this?

and today i saw that same type a bot and that guy has been reported already for selling gold

its not working or he'd not be collecting

they need to investigate anyone selling large amounts a ore or wood....

be easy ot pay 10 people to go into the player database and see names like dsadsadsa are not real players

HELL i'd make a rule you have to make a player name that at least makes sense or they can ban you....

that would change things up...i don't know what they gonna do but i cant handle these games no more there is always bullcrap in every one of them...perhaps we just need to all go back to single player titles and say to hell with all this over spending on garbage

OH and i got kicked out of my guild for screwing those bots in dashaan  and im not happy to be screwing over bots and sellign shit so cheap i barely make a profit ever. dont tell me im exploiting ...im trying to take back the game frm them jerks...its not gonna work ...i give up...this is not a game of eldar bots....

Relog to change instance, I've been running for two days now without seeing a single open world bot, though the public dungeons are still filled with the bot blobs. Most of the bots that I saw when I started were near the starting city too, going a bit further reduced the density a lot, and now at lvl20 I dont see them anymore.

Though I might be just lucky? We'll see, but they better come with a solution to the bots, they still ruin every public dungeon grr...

The problem is sorta with the developer.  Honestly, either they same this coming and decided to ignore or defer, or they didn't see this coming, and that's just idiotic - botting static nodes is a pretty obvious thing people will do.  Either way, tsk, tsk.

The real problem is a subset of players who defend developers using the logic that "well it happens in all MMO launches, so it's okay (or give them a break)"  You people:  You are more responsible for these issues then the developers.  You let them get away with it.  You defend them here.  You cut down people who complain about poor or lazy design.  You support them with your subscriptions.  You are enablers.  Because of you, the next MMO will have these same issues.

You know, you can be a fan of TES, you can love this game, and you can complain about the nonsense - these can co-exist without contradiction!

so if i have 2 new guild members and i say hey i can make you some cool gear with my mottifs but i have to go get iron ore guess where i have to go to get the ore....YUP WHERE THE BOTTERS ARE...i managed to get like 86 ore before he appeared and everything everywhere was gone ....i wandered for half a hour where there are lots...

too much effort ...and your saying to relog ...how many times a day do i have to do that...it gives me an actual headache....

we all should refuse to sub and leave the botters all by themsleves for a month then zenimax will know

the only way to solve this is to have the ore/wood appear randomly .....that aint gonna happen so botters can learn locations and then program a bot to go get it and then trad eot anther player to sell for them

You think bots are the only problem?

This screenshot is taken from reddit and it happened just one hour ago:

Stages of a new mmo: 1) It's just beta. It still has plenty of time before release. 2) It just launched. Give it time. WoW wasn't built in a day. 3) We don't need you anyway. 4) F2P announced. 5)Huge influx of players. 6) Look how much has changed. 7) Cash shop is the only thing developed lately. 8) It has been a long journey and we thank everyone who was part of it. Shutting down in 3 months. (Courtesy of Robokapp.)

The problem is really people like you. People who believe an online game should be running flawlessly within the 1st month its released. I don't think anyone is kissing a developers ass in giving them some time to fix issues. The amount of time allowed, or put up with is for the individual player to decide. Not you,or anyone else on these forums. If I want to give them a break, its really non of your business. You make your opinion know with your wallet, I will with mine.

Currently I have a VR2 EP and a level 35 AD.  Saw my first teleport mining bot the other day.  He was bouncing around the mining nodes in the VR1 daggerfall zone.  Luckily, I disassemble all greens and have more crafting materials than I could ever need and disassembling gives enough crafting XP to level profs.

seriously pay my sub and 2 hrs a day ill just hunt htem down and ban them for ya.....

ive got nothing better to do and ill be a hero....

    A) the game cost 70$ so lets say there is about 500K people avging 70$

    35 millionj

    500K times 15 = 7.5 million a month

you cant tell me you cant hire a few people to police the game OR even be on stand by or check in on areas...

if they gave a reward when you get a confirmed botter....things would really pick up...

And you know what is sad?

A 10 year old MMO (EverQuest 2) got it right 10 years ago with random dynamic resource node spawns.

At least Blizzard did some research before they made WoW and looked at the competition. /shrug

no but lets explain how it all starts and works

the bot goes and collects stuff using dsadsadsa , then transfers to another actual character who does that again maybe a few times ot try and make the trail hard to follow might even split it up...

then he sells it....GOLD , hten sells the gold for cash to an idiot player....

that cash then goes ot more accounts and soon you have a guy with 10000 bots farming everything and that guy above is the one whom either profits OR has been getting a lot a gold and exploiting...

if you want ot cut them off at the feet we all need to get farming everything we can in the game so these bots cant get anything to sell for gold

they also use illegal credit cards to start all this up ...and it might even be funding other actual crime....its serious..and not just a joke.

    -------------

and as i said and another above said, random timed , and lcoation resource nodes are the only way forward....a bot would have to hang out there too long and could get found out.

I, personally, have not had too many bugs. It has mostly been a lack/missing content and some exploits. The current issue with bots and such is because they are new to MMO's and dont have systems in place to deal with these type of things. I expected this, based on how clueless they sounded in their public statements prior to launch.

These things will all get worked out, and in 3-6 months, the game should be stable enough to go F2P. I will look forward to playing it then... until that time it is going to be problematic, with people complaining about every issue, and with the standard drop in population after it is no longer 'new'.

I saw so many more bots in FFXIV:ARR when it launched and they had been running 2 mmos for years....to the point where there'd be multiple ones overrunning each other.  Go to a node and three dudes would teleport on top of me.

And no i'm not slamming FFXIV that is just the most recent launch game I've played.

I agree that FFXIV has had issues. However, they have shown that they understand the issues, and that they are committed to working through them. I give Square a lot of credit for blowing the initial launch, pulling their head out of their behind, and doing what was needed to make a great game.

I think that ESO will improve, but it is going to be rough until they start realizing how clueless they were, and re-adjust based on a more realistic approach.
