You seem to be ok with microtransactions... but paying for a free game is mad! - You're sort of contradicting yourself in a way.
What is the difference with buying, say, 12k credits through microtransactions or founders pack? What is the difference of buying 3 months worth of subscription to a game via microtransactions rather than a founders pack?
None, except one thing: With the founders pack you're investing in the game prior to its release instead of buying it at release or shortly thereafter.
I'm not buying any of these founders packs because I can't afford it, but seeing you proclaim that "its mad" makes me facepalm.
If you can afford it and like this game, then go ahead. If not, don't. Simple as that. Haven't decided yet myself as am currently playing eso but I think ill go for it !!!
However before you toss any money at archeage you need to understand , Archeage is NOT a AAA title, not even a AA title.
Archeage is a cheap Korean grindfest game that has been over hyped like crazy because they have an insane crafting system.
The game is over a year old and looks it and feels it.
The game is basically Perfect World or C9 or a combo of the two made on a much cheaper budget, and destroyed by horrible update/content patches.
That being said if you like games like perfect world then you will love archeage, but if you love games like GW2, WoW, ESO, and are expecting Archeage to be like those games, well then you will hate Archeage and it is best to save your money.

The game looks horrible and is completely outdated in terms of technology. Blurry textures, low poly landscapes with painted on grass and rocks. Almost zero foliage and only a few trees. Horrible animations. No AntiAliasing or any advanced graphical effects (HDR, SSAO).

Lately, I've been looking forward to Black Desert more. Waited all those years for AA and it's finally here but if I wanted to play right now I had to pay. Bummer.
Took the plunge and wow am I glad I did! This game is so amazing and I'm still at a low level. There's just so much fluff. This was my main beef with TERA and other games.
So far I've ridden on someone else's mount (he told me to) and got kicked off (lol), planted seeds, climbed trees (one was from a planted seed too), raised my own mount, travelled on a cool-looking airship across seamless zones and making my own class.
So much in the world can be interacted with. I think explorers will really dig this one.
I don't know precisely what the heck I'm doing but so far I guess I'm a Vitalist with Defender and it seems I can choose one more at level 10?
The world actually feels like a world and the graphics... I'm playing at a smooth framerate using DX11.
Edit: so cool that I can dismount and have my mount follow me. I gave it a name and we can give it armour too...man. It has more mechanics (aggressive/defensive/etc.)

Hmm...I've found that I can't rely too much on streams or even YouTube sometimes.
The videos all degrade compared to the source material and never show a game's graphics like when you're playing it yourself.
There are some dodgy textures here and there but overall I'm pretty happy. I'll try and upload a video if I can.

I Paid the 150 and it made sense for something I want to play. Alpha might've been a draw but all that in game swag is just unbelieveable. I was going to drop this kind of cash on it already, so it would've been sill for me not to this this founder's package.
