Whats missing? obviously much more skills. I cant stand games with such a fasting-type variety of skills like ESO and even WS. WS is beyond ESO in so many things, except it's restrictive nature in how many skills you are allowed to use.

This is horrible to me playing MMOs since 2001... I want variety and not being forced to deaden my mind with so few skills. No thank you.

Would have been a wonderful game with double the amount of skills to use, at least. But not this way.

I can fully agree. Same situation here.

WildStar is a great game except this one important thing: The amount of skills you are able to use. And this will turn down so many players like it has already done in ESO. Thankfully because then this trend will not continue.

It is great to bring up such ideas but we have to agree that the majority of gamers are the ones who steer the ship where it needs to go. And how it currently looks like, less skills is not the way MMO gaming in the future goes.

    Thinking outside the box.

The game is made by ex-wow devs and other than graphics, the gameplay is basically vanilla wow (yes the best iteration of wow, but still its the same old game).

Making a game based on 10 year old template - not exactly very exciting, and their delivery is average at best, its not even as good as Vanilla WoW, so they didn't even hit their baseline IMO.

At least they didn't spend 200mil so maybe they'll make some money even wwithWS being so mediocre.

    Seriously?

You must have played a COMPLETLY different game than I have been.  Wildstar is to WoW, as Apples are to Steak.  It's just ridiculous to even think that anybody could even conjur the thought of them being THAT similar.  The similarities end at the art style and the fact that they are both MMORPGs.

Unless you got through the opening cutscene and stopped there, I guess.

He's right.  The game actually reminds me a LOT of Allods, not WoW.  I'm not sure that's much better but there it is...

I could have sworn when Allods was coming out... before the stupid cash shop fiasco... it was being called F2P WoW.

Sooooo, if Wildstar is like Allods, and Allods is like WoW, then Wildstar is like WoW also... Right ?

I guess you could think of it that way, but for different reasons.  The reason Wildstar reminds me of Allods and not WoW is because of the sci-fi theme, the ships, skills, et al.  If you're talking about most of the FEATURES that WS has, then yes, the questing and usually-skipped dialog screens are more WoW's doing.

I saw the chuas in WS and thought - "hey those remind me a bit of those furry things from Allods, except there aren't three of them - something that actually was more creative and made years ago."

+1 That´s it for me too.

Ya its not for everyone but I will say this. Its not like GW2 where its just get out of the red. Wildstar at higher levels makes this system more and more complex, to the point its far from easy mode. Its just part of the game design and they really put it to work!!! You really have to get to level 20 and do your first dungeon boss to get what I am saying and thats just a small tip of whats to come.

How is Wildstar not a "get out of the red" game ??? it is just as telegraphed as GW2.

    What is missing ???

I can sum it all up in 1 word... Innovation. Everything in WS is done... done and done and done, none of it is a new idea, they may have ginned up some aspects of things but it is all same ole same ole.

Wildstar will be my first new MMO i do not pre-order, and might be my first i do not buy at all.

No matter how you twist it, it has all been done before, and most of it has been done before in WoW, as so many have said, if i want WoW i will play WoW. If i want WoW with a different look i will take a hammer and hit my screen once and then i can look at the new graphics.

Oh, umm 40 MAN RAIDS, nuff said.

Why is because just because you see a red circle does not always mean dodge. They make you think. Click HERE and you start to get the idea. The telegraph system is a tool used by the devs to make the game harder not for a lazy player. They also layer telegraphs with other systems so you now have more layers to watch for.

EDIT: Also with their dynamic landscape and how raids will not be the same because the landscape will change this makes it so you will need to think of new ways to deal with telegraphs

The good players are changing their Limited Action Set for almost every pull.  And almost all the skill have a situational uses.  Your list of skills greatly depends upon the role you are trying to achieve.

In the end, from my experience with games that do not have a limited action set, you only typically use 8-10 abilities anyway.  This method forces you to choose your role and how you will interact with your group before pulling.

Besides, if you believe this game is going to be easy because it has telegraphs, you obviously haven't gone into the dungeons.  Even if you know what's coming, they are intense and fast paced.

A lot of videos only LOOK like it's just a dodge telegraph game.  Probably because they are not making their interrupts and dispels obvious.

It's obviously just my opinion, and maybe if I give it more time I will find my reason to keep logging on and give it the time an MMO needs in order to really sink it's teeth into you.  I'm just curious for those who really like Wildstar what is driving them to keep playing?  Or is my lack of initial interest has been a common theme?

There's a lot of things to keep me playing this game. The question, the instances, the crafting (arguably one of its most innovative features), and the housing. I love the whole datachron thing - finding tidbits of lore. The fact that I can revisit that in the Galactic Archives is an added bonus. I'm also happy the game has a tremendous amount of polish and the features that are almost universally demanded. i'm looking forward to exploring the game, engaging in the group content, and seeing what the game has to offer.

Everyone is a bit jaded and bitter these days, but maybe its just something unique to you, like you aren't a true sci-fi fantasy fan. I never can get into Rift, although I keep trying to play it because it is Free to Play. There's no real reason why I can't get into it, other than it just isn't original vanilla Everquest 1.

Classic Everquest 1 had more challenge, and that's really the thing that makes all of these games so boring nowadays. I can't get into playing these mmos that are just so solocentric and easy.

An RPG is and RPG is an RPG, whether that be a MMORPG or a Single Player RPG. So most RPG's are going to be pretty similar, and once you've played the genre long enough, you need more than some cool features to suck you in. I've learned that the over-arching story and setting is what pulls a player in. Now not all stories and settings appeal to every person, just as not every fantasy lover will like all fantasy novels ever written.

If you're not being sucked into the game, the setting and/or story probably isn't your taste.
