So yeah I come here to get the latest news on MMO's which I think I am burnt out from playing. I come here to get hyped up for new MMO releases. I bought into the ESO hype, played it for 2 weeks and now I am back here looking for the next big MMO. Iv'e played WildStar beta and Im not really getting into it but will try it again this weekend.  I was sooo hyped for SWTOR and actually played it for like 6 months. It was ok but got boring.

The next big one is ArcheAge but Asian style graphics are turning me off, plus only 4 races to choose from. I like a game where there are plenty of races and classes to choose from. I dont see any big MMO on the horizon, so this has me waiting for WoD.

If by WoD you mean World of Darkness then you'll be waiting a long time seeing as it's no longer being made.
  • suckm3suckm3 Member UncommonPosts: 187

All new MMO's are piece of shit just a quick sourdough for profit and nothing else. You should try EvE or Ultima Online or just wait like on EverQuest Next (looks promising, hope it will be not another shit as usually) and meanwhile play singleplayer games ;)

Yeah I read about that. I mean Warlords of Draenor. After all these years of playing WoW (with long breaks in btween of course)

WoW is really the only MMO that does it for me.

Well that's one reason why one would want to visit this site more often, info regarding closed games...

Almost sounds like MMOs aren't really doing it for you anymore.  It's really hard for a new game to trump the feeling you had for the first one you played.  Every game after that just kind of fills a void till something new and shiny comes along, but for the most part they don't seem to have any longevity to them.
  • docminus2docminus2 Member UncommonPosts: 184

You are most likely still visiting MMORPG due to masochism - a typical place (though common for most gaming forums (fora?)) where trolls and haters get the limelight :(

I am glad I have EVE - otherwise I wouldn't have any MMO at the moment either. But heck, there is so much more out there to play, the gaming world is changing, even if slowly. GTA V, Dark Souls 2 and soon some other upcoming interesting single player games (some with online functionality and no subscription).

Why can't WoW be his favourite game?

    well said.

problem with many MMOs is, that they count on longevity, but since there is such a huge market nowadays also on the non-MMO side.... and they (the MMOs) often don't do a good job regarding longevity... I still play Skyrim and in hours I think I played it more than many other MMOs together... So much for MMOs long term incentives...

I was once like you but now I'm playing Archeage, you will enjoy it and it will feel fresh to you not because of any single features but in the amount of many new and old MMOs single features combine into one.

I've been playing games since Zelda on NES.  I played a lot of Madden Football, Sim City, all kinds. Fantasy games are my favorite.  I don't really have a favorite game but I enjoyed WoW the most out of all the types/genres.

In my opinion where the most companies has lost me is in the pricing department. January 11th, 2011 was the last time I've spent $ on a new MMO. There was just now some Guild Wars 2 promo 50% off, but I won't buy it. I know for fact if Guild Wars 2 launched with $25-30 price tag it would took my $ but now it end up taking $0.00 and that's just one example.

World of Warcraft will probably never see me coming back again since this is not the first time I see them leave its community with 1 straight year without new dungeon/content update. It goes by...fool me once shame on you fool me twice you know how it goes. No way I'm paying another $40 expansion fee EVER. Mist of Pandaria released Sept 25, 2012 and it's last raid content was delivered Sept 10th 2013. Next expansion scheduled fall 2014.

ArcheAge, Everquest 3 are what I'm closely and patiently following (mainly because they have more realistic, F2P pricing model). Star Citizen will most likely be the only MMORPG that I know right now I would consider shelling monthly sub on. Wildstar should've went B2P with DLC's. RIFT, SWTOR all MMORPG's that choose to go B2P+P2P I completely skipped. I am simply not interested in them.

Any themepark (dungeon/raiding progression) MMORPG that heavily depends on content updates has a very big chance to drop quick as its community gets very frustrated and loses patience/interest as they wait for an update and eventually go play something else.

DCUO did better job than any of these themepark MMORPG's in my opinion. Their content was coming faster and their DLC's )(new alerts/dungeons/raids) were $10-15 every 3-4 months. But that thing is out of the water (for me) because every DLC seems a must to buy to have an even advantage with everyone both in PvP and PvE. And I've missed quite some DLC's. I might actually consdier buying the package if the promo is still around. The IP and its combat is truly something fresh and awesome.

    Dude, I'm telling you...

I've played every major MMO out there. I'm so sick of it all. SWTOR, IMO, was the biggest upset in MMO history. However, ArcheAge is a breath of fresh air, e.g., gigantic world, world housing, world pvp, exploration, etc.

Other than Character Creation (which is being westernized), the game itself does not feel Asian. It feels like a cross between SWG and EQ2. It's fun! The graphics are stunning and the performance is even better.

Here is an example of something I did earlier today in AA:

I was exploring the mountains - trying to find a location for a house. A member of the opposing faction must have sailed across the ocean onto my continent, as he became aggressive towards me. The world is big that I was shocked to see an enemy where I was at. He was much high level, so I had to use my head. I retreated to the cliff side. He followed me... swinging his monster sword. I ran around him and punted him off the side of the cliff.

I had to use the environment to improvise. This randomness was so exciting. It something that can't be felt in battlegrounds or dedicated pvp areas. ArcheAge feels like a real virtual MMO.

Everyone here has been conned into accepting these single-player co'op RPGs as MMOs. ArcheAge brings back the "old".

The problem with mmo's today is zero longevity and thats what a good mmo has. MMO's pre wow were really the best ever made to this day. Now its about cash grab shops and generic gameplay and still getting a sub.for it. Oh and now its people willing to pay to play alpha's. I don't just blame it on the devs,i blame this generation of players for bad games being made. The genre is pretty stale now. Nothing coming out is going to be that much different.  When wow went mainstream and started making all that money, the genre was pretty much finish with creativity. I believe the next really great mmo will come from a small indie company.

This is the problem. Please tell me how this is bringing back the old? You just sound like another person here pushing an open world pvp game. Everything you wrote has been done to death in other games too. You just out smarted the other player and won. You could do this in any game with pvp.

I think the next game to wait for will be Elite: Dangerous - it might not be fantasy, but it will have the same beautiful shrug of self-acceptance, freedom, and liberty that the original WoW felt like.

ArchAge does have a lot of interesting features. Just wish it was more of a western fantasy game.

My god, how is EVE is actually tolerable to play, the ui and control is awful. I tried to play it again and again, I just can't find it interesting, and like I said about the ui and control, just makes me want to cry.

The sense of freedom in AA, and the classlessness or simply you can create your own class, doesn't that reminds you of the classic Ultima online? Or you just never played the game? and pretend that you know "The old"? It's not just about the pvp, never is, however it is a part of the essential to have that 'freedom', and to top it off, you have the justice system that made me very much interested in the game, plus you get to plan an escape from the jail, how is that not appealing to you?

I keep telling myself to stop coming here because all of the fanaticism and animosity in the forums is kind of a downer (not to mention misinformation) but then I get bored at work and... well... here I am. There seems to be a few people here that still have their heads on straight but there are also a lot of very angry, nasty people that seem to hop from game to game. A few names come to mind that I'm sure some of you know off the top of your head but I won't name names as it would get me yet another ban.

    Oh well.
