I'm not trying to make anything out of this. Wildstar is not my cup of tea but I have no particular hate for it or the people who like it.
I'm just sharing this screen cap because it's funny and so well formatted that it almost looks like an official ad... although it's almost certainly just one fan.

I doubt it's Carbine, but if it is, this is truly a new low for advertising everywhere lol.
Currently Playing: ESO and FFXIV
Have played: You name it
If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.
I don't think it's about desperation. You just want the most players you can get, right? I'm sure there are Wildstar people in WoW too. Could even be Carbine staffers. I'm actually quite positive that when Rift was coming out they had staffers (they just knew too much too early) who were on lots of WoW servers promoting. It's just good business.

Lol, is this an example of "ESO Hate" taken to the next level ?
Why stop at the forums when you can troll them in zone chat as well !
There Is Always Hope!
So-called viral marketing... no different than the shils we see in the forums for ESO.
Viral marketing is cheap; much cheaper than running national ads on TV or on all the gaming web sites. You are all talking about this particular in-game comment, right? Having posted a screen-grab, it's reaching a lot of other people... so, it works, right?
Be aware of what you're seeing. An informed consumer is a smart consumer. The marketing guys who come up with this sort of crap are not your friends.
Priceless yes Knotwood did start a whole thread saying ESO was going to get 10 million by end of this year. This guys at least said 18 months but both are
The guy is so nuts that we are now discussing Wildstar on the ESO forums. You can call him nuts for his statement, but I think the statement is doing exectly what he wants it to do. Having poeple talk about it.
I wish the Wildstar fans would segregate themselves from Wildstar vs EsO -
ESO has it's issues, but it has nothing to do with WS
WS - you don't need to be pissing ESO fans off anymore than they already are - put yourself in their shoes, now it doesn't feel real good does it?
I'm not saying you have to stop critiquing ESO, but just don't do it with reference to WS, critique it because you think something needs changed and your critique points toward that change.
For instance -
I think a sub fee and box price is uncalled for with reference to ESO, ESO is much better as an f2p title, let it go f2p and everyone can stop complaining because what do you expect for free? Right?
or
ESO - would have been better off without using the elder scrolls ip...
Linked to gold sellers maybe? Or a Wildstar forum - looking to generate hits for ad revenue?
Certainly won't be Carbine.
Remember when people said ESO would have 10 million subs? Or was that 20 million? DOUBLE LOL
Although I agree with that chat in the screen shot about him being a f**king idiot - who would pay to effectively beta test ESO on PC right now?
I'd wager closer to 80k subs in 10 months.
Wildstar is just to niche of a game with no known IP to back it up. I predict Rift like numbers for it.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
NCsoft has a vicious marketing department. Ask TSW.
"revolutionary!" lulz
If it is carbine their marketing department sucks. Advertising breaking 18 million subs in the first year only invites ridicule not interest. I'm guessing it's a troll, particularly with those TM marks trying to stir up the ESO fans, and by all appearances he was quite successful.
I think it will do better than Rift tbh. Rift was very generic and that alone brought the game down by quite a bit. At least Wildstar is trying to give itself its own "feeling" rather than some generic fantasy.
