I was just really hoping it was a typo!

I didn't buy.  Waiting for the mega Imperial sale that will come along eventually.  After playing beta for a few weekends, then reading reviews and player comments here, I figure the game is good for me for maybe a month of much play, followed by a month of here and there play.  I calculate the value to be around $40+15.  So might be a long wait.

Cancelled and I suspect it will be my last subscription based game .There is too much out there that does similar with an optional subscription system or a one off payment with DLCs . And of course there are single player games on sale on steam with loads of gameplay for less than 15 dollars . Its not a bad game but I don't have time to play everything and for me to play a subscription based game a long time it would have to have sandbox features and world pvp ( not pvp confined to one area ) anything less I get bored with after a couple of months .

    Cancelled.

I have greatly enjoyed the game so far but I will admit I have been soloing the entire time I have played. I asked myself should I continue to pay to play what is essentially for me a single player game. Now let me make it clear that I know I can group, that the options are there but I am just not likely to use them. I am interested in the PVP also but see no reason to engage in it until I would reach VR10 so that also made me question renewing my sub. In the end I decided to cancel my sub before it I was charged. I may return when and if the console version launches for PS4.

I cancelled my plans to work on the house today, and had some gelato instead.

Cancelled pretty soon after I started.  I need something with less hand holding and more danger to pull me in.  I started playing an early EQ 1 emulator and resubbed to Eve, now I am happy.  Have fun those who are enjoying ESO!

I went into this thinking, "This is an epic franchise".  How can I go wrong investing in it?  I even upgraded to the Imperial Edition to score the mount.  ESO was going to be my long term MMO.  I was in an excellent guild with some serious PvP.   But it was in the PvE I had the issues and isn't that where we all grew our E.S. legs?   The PvE had broken quest lines, broken grouping, insipid zones, repeating dungeon layouts, and quests that were a revolving door which made them bland and boring?

Three weeks and a few days later I was mixed on my opinion of the game.  Until I came upon a review from another source that touched some nerves, but made me take a quick look at my account status.  I had 1 day before my first $14.99 charge.

I canceled.  I wasn't thrilled about it.  But ESO was to me an Elder Scroll series with more than one person.   But outside of the PvP it proved to be more a let down that an innovation.

    ArcheAge maybe?  Dunno.

I have no idea how oldschool mmoers could find any fun in this game (or any recent linear quest hub grinder). I thought mmos were about big dangerous virtual worlds...not hand holding boredom.

    Hand holding boredom.  Funny!

They still have not made announcements about the number of sales they made and how many have subbed. I suppose being a private company we cannot get anything from them unless it is bragging about 5 million beta accounts.

Why do you need it?  If it's a high number you guys will claim it's a lie or some other crap.  If it's low you'll all act like you predicted it 5 years ago.

I didn't re-sub, but plan to in a couple of months. Too busy playing ArcheAge right now. I only sub to two MMOs at a time. I can tell that AA will be my primary sub (if Trion does go through and offer that option) and I will swap back and forth between WS and ESO for the 2nd.

  • reeereeereeereee Member UncommonPosts: 1,636

I'm giving it another month, not thrilled, but not quite ready to give up either.

Also helps that there is very little competition right now: WoW is in a 12 month hiatus from adding content, WS isn't out yet, and $15 for a month of ESO is still a better deal than $150 for a month of AA alpha.

If you are wearing your own shit, smeared on in letters forming the word "Idiot",  then you have other serious issues. You made a good decision cancelling the game to focus on those more pressing problems.  ; ]

I myself am still subbed and playing off and on. Started a new job with different hours so I can't play as often as I'd like.

The game did start to get a little tiring though as I felt like I was doing the same things over and over again with a slight difference in story. The deciding factor was actually (people might hate me for this) Archeage. I told myself I wouldn't buy into as I was disappointed they had decided to the F2P route, but I though about it some more and really I didn't care too much.

Bought the archeum package, joined a guild and I am having some of the best fun I've ever had in an MMO. Told myself I should keep playing ESO but I just didn't have the will or desire to after playing Archeage. Anyway, that wasn't the point in this post, not trying to give mad props to Archeage. But yeah my subscription hasn't continued, my time in ESO lasted less than I though it would I will admit.

I'll make it the point of mine since I had the exact same experience.  ArcheAge isn't the best game but it is different from what we have been given here state side and it's refreshing.

So it's basically just a matter of timing for my ESO sub, although I do have a complaint - I am currently a Level 43 Sorcerer and cannot finish my Level 40 story quest without dying multiple times. I am at the point where I need to "kill Mannimarco," but those adds he spawns and that big AOE he launches kick my butt. I got him down to about 20% health once or twice, but after about 15 deaths I gave up. The problem is I have done all the level-appropriate quests and I can't get to the next zone until I finish my story quest. So I'm basically stuck grinding (which sucks and gives little XP), which has really bummed me out and makes me like the game less. I guess I could always start playing an alt until May 31st...

Well we know they sold 350k hard copies by looking at this here, and if digital game sales are anything like digital music sales vs hard copy (4-1) ESO has sold 1.5-2 million.

Very unscientific, but probably in the ball park.
