My biggest beef with Wildstar

I think that for a game that is about to be released in 2 weeks it seems very unpolished..

    - With graphics at Ultra-High the textures still looked ugly as hell..

    - Lotsa little graphical bugs and typos on the English (totaly acceptable if the game was originaly korean and was being localized.. ffs it is not! Hire some people that KNOW English..)

    - What's up with the game font? It's raw, it's bare, it's too "normal", it's ugly for a game..

    - WTF do the NPC say one thing in the "audio" and have another thing writen in the quest dialog? This is why either what they say matches what is writen OR just make the NPC grunt, say hi or fart for all I care.. just dont make him say a LONG coerent phrase while I'm trying to read the quest dialog and since they are different it's brain fucked up..

In sum, not a game I would PAY to play at the momment..

the biggest beef should be "its basically the same as every other mmo out there".

It has a lot of generic content.

The housing and awesome dungeons aren't some of them.

Daoc and SWG had better housing in 2000 / 2003 and WoW had / has / can come up with better dungeons...

Theres nothing Wildstar, or any mmo out there atm that can come up with anything that has been done before.

Thats by beef with mmos these days... not just wildstar mind you.

I think that apart from the combat, Wildstar isn't really trying to be innovative.

It's trying to give it's best interpretation of different theme park features into one complete theme park mmo.

and it does a pretty good job with that.

I think Wildstar dungeons are at least on par with WoW dungeons... and the dev's certainly know what they're doing so it can only get better.

Maybe its just me, but as i read trough the first page of comments and reactions by the OP, then i get the feeling that some people just dont want to like MMO´s in general and Wildstar more specifically...

    just a feeling...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I just don't like the feeling of my pacing and method of leveling feeling overly managed and constrained.  A feeling I first noticed in SWTOR, then was dismayed to find myself noticing in TSW  and now in Wildstar.

Then again, as I also mentioned, my first MMO was one where taking a great deal of time to twink the hell out of a toon was well rewarded by snappy kill times, often on mobs of ridiculously higher level that yielded ridiculously high xp.  I miss that.  The feeling of outsmarting rather than plodding along at so many levels per hour solo vs so many levels per hour grouped.  And devs have gotten way too good at making sure specific classes aren't noticeably faster to solo with than others, too.

    This a thousand times over.

I'm staking my money that the game will drive all the instant gratification kiddies back to whatever crapfest they came from.

I'm so happy to finally see another game after so many years where you can't get to max level in a week.

If you enjoy a slower pace that's fine, no reason to be rude about it, though.  And some of us 'instant gratification kiddies' might just prefer a snappier pace because:

    1.  We've been playing MMOs longer than you've been alive and certain things just don't need to be dragged out.  Like your basic quest leveling.

    2.  Some of us are so old that we have fewer years left than we've lived and therefore time might just be a tad bit more precious than it is to you.

    3.  Get off my lawn!

I rofl'd at your 3 points; being a 40- year old man, I must agree.

    plus:

    Goddam punk kids!   =)

I know exactly what to do - group up with 2 or 3 more people - who would have thought one would be well off to group up for questing?

I don't expect many to pick up on this post, since its not the first I have posted that comes out and says it.

While leveling try not to dodge as much instead use your interrupt when the mob casts a telegraph. Pretty basic sentence, that pretty much explains it all. When you do the above you get a moment of opportunity and deal 50% more damage, when this happens use your best DMG skills, like your innate.

See the thing is, the mobs HP is based on the fact that you know this feature very well, yet they don't give a tutorial for it. It speeds up TTK dramatically.

    best of luck

The game doesn't even take long to level... I plan to rush 50 in 2-3 days lol based on my 1 day cbt experience, I even expect it to be faster than that for me if I ignore some things in the game alltogether until cap. If up to a month of leveling to a casual and inefficient player is too long then does that player expect to play the mmorpg only 1-2 months anyway? Sounds like a final fantasy game could give a longer game experience.

Oh thanks.  I missed that trick entirely.  I also was reading a thread on the main forum about some bizarre beastie that is a reflect engineer that sounds like more dps fun.

I'm not grouping with anyone named Crusades, that's for damn sure.  I'd likely end up in the middle of some desert fighting some people over some religion I don't even follow.

TBH a lot of people do, they write these full reviews talking about how the combat is bad and so on, and they never mention an interrupt. They go in into this game thinking oh, just like GW2, dodge the red and win, lol! They couldn't be more wrong.

Yup, GW2 must have been a bad influence on me.  And then I wondered why the dodge didn't seem to be available often enough to work right.  Thanks again, really do appreciate the tip!
