Hello there. I have just seen this chart  goig viral on internet and im quite surprised.

I did not tried the game in beta so i cant make an opinion by myself and i need your help.

I love very difficult games and raiding (used to raid in wow wotlk and love it). I also like big pvp battles (2v2 3v3 5v5 is not my thing. I prefer Gw2 Wvw).

Do you guy think the game is for me ? Shoud i preorder? The fuck i dont know what to do since i cant try anymore :/

Do you guys know if there is a free trial like in World of Warcraft ? or some recruit a friend stuff?

Thanks for your input. I am checking all the devspeak right now and i have seen the "raids" one. How is it possible i missed this?

Is there something i have to watch for PVP? except world pvp and battlegrounds? (Edit = Just seen warplots looks fun for my linking)

What about a way to test the game before release? Your link is so tempting...

@silverreign I really dunno how i missed this. Thanks for your advices going to check !! Some raids were hard in Wotlk (i remember ulduar being serious shiiiit ^^ ) But if wildstar is even more hard it's even better !!!

Meh, I just don't like cartoons and cartoony treadmills that have been done to death.

And I don't call themeparks hardcore, I get that in games like EvE or Darkfall,..

Mind you I can go play Hello Kitty Online, play it for 24/7 and say I'm a hardcore player, so much about the word hardcore.

Just like every other MMO of this sort the difficulty mostly comes in other people not standing in stuff. DPS meters are already in the game so the main source of difficulty is people watching/caring about those. If you can tell the colors red from green you're pretty set otherwise. I've yet to see encounters (online or personally) that are more difficult than Heroic SoO raids in WoW.

How could you not like cartoons?

    Here comes the hardcore hate!!!!!!

    Just scroll past.

I signed up for the newsletter and they sent me one after a couple of days. Might try to google it, but  they have a code release weekly just keep an eye out.

PvP was just as fun or at least the level 14-15 battleground was.

Yeah your right wow was harder. not!

Yes you missed something, school is letting out and all the kids need something to occupy their time with.....The game was so-so during the Beta I played, not my style of game..Too cartoony and I rate it a 5-10 which means under 5 years old wouldn't understand it and over 10 years old wouldn't find it worth playing  [mod edit]

Why so serious?  Do you even have fun being a gamer? Games make me happy!!!

As far as cartoon graphics.  I think cartoon like graphics age well( look at wow), compose to games like Aion/Tera and etc... look aged over time. Yeah they looked good when they came out but now they look dated.

WoW ok looks like art is something some are not linking. But tbh it's not the art i like but the humor, i dunno first time i really smile at jokes in a MMO (at least in their dev speaks).

Allright going for a mentality check i guess. (IP lawyer in Paris btw xD)

I am still looking a way to test  the game before release.

I have fun playing hardcore games, I just explained that this kind of cartoony fun in WS is neither fun nor hardcore for me.

The overdone cartoon environment kills the fun in questing, the treadmill  kills the raiding part (lets be serious only hard thing about raiding is waiting for people to learn a scripted encounter and to grind through previous content to achieve the required gear score); while instanced PvP in WS is probably the biggest let down for me. There is way too much visual clutter for the fast paced combat and with all the wide AoE abilities it's hard to call it aim to shoot..

There is not much to say about Wildstar, combat in PVE pretty fun and refreshing. Combat in pvp spamfest no fun at all (nothing to do with tactical pvp gameplays).

Artstyle is cartoony, BUT it is very well made, the areas and designs are very well made, nice too look at while leveling. Maybe the good design of that artstyle makes the performance going lower, I don't know it's a job of developers to figure that out.

All in one PVE lovers will kind of love it.

I'm all for Wildstar and can't wait for release in a few weeks.  I've already preordered and have taken a week off work to have fun with the game.  However, try changing "The Elder Scrolls Online" search term to ESO and change the time period to the past 90 days on that graph for a accurate picture.  I don't particularly like ESO and I didn't purchase it, but there's no reason to try and spin misinformation through a carefully manipulated graph.

    • Was not interested in the GDC introduction of it.
    • Became interested through amazing trailers they released that were full of humor and gameplay.
    • Played it and found it to be a fair game with few things truly wrong with it in general.

Though all in all I found it to be a tittle that is a little too immersion breaking.  When I start seeing things pop up on screen showing "DOUBLE KILL"  and  "TRIPLE KILL" with the announcer yelling it at me... In addition to things such as "OH S**T... You just leveled up!  Good job, cupcake!" when you level (not to mention obnoxious level up animations)... Well, I knew the game wasn't for me.

I traditionally LOVE cartoon games and comedy.  Also sci-fi with a touch of fantasy.  In addition to amazing housing.  Thought this was a match made in heaven, but overall I found it overbearing... and felt like it just didn't take itself seriously over time.

    1. I couldn't feel immersed when I desperately wanted to be.
    2. I wanted to learn more of the world at first, but then just wanted to hack and slash as immersion was repeatedly broken the fourth wall breached.
    3. The dungeons were fun at first, though they get repetitive over all as most dungeons do.
    4. I'm not a hardcore raider, and therefore the endgame doesn't truly seem to be geared for me by the way people have been talking around here.
    5. I couldn't get a feel for any of the races for some reason; didn't like the way any of them looked, save for one.

Though there are a lot of reasons to be excited for this game if immersion isn't your cup of tea.  Worth a try during the beta, to be sure.  Hopefully they'll give free trials eventually.
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

Gabe has just laid the kiss of death upon WS.

It's almost a guarantee that if Gabe expresses interest in an mmo it's doomed to fail (cough-Tera-cough). The man may be able to draw/write, but his taste in games is somewhat dubious and tends to be governed by artistic styles instead of actual gameplay. I still haven't forgiven him for my Tera and Transformers purchase. As quickly as he picks up an mmo it'll be gathering dust in a week tops.

  • MothanosMothanos Member UncommonPosts: 1,910

I love hardcore games but Wildstar should have made it a little less cartoonish.
I respect their decisions and wish them a big succes tough.

You gotte have big balls to say in the open that this mmo is for the hardcore raiders or gtfo :)
I realy dig that style of honesty !!!

Bravo to the devs and their playerbase :)

If it had a more reallistic engine / graphics i would have been all over it :)
But !!! archeage looks like a perfect home for me ! only a few months waiting !

But man i miss those 40man wipe nights on teamspeak :(
    Nothing compares these days....nothing.

As someone who has to pay attention to those trends, I can say that this sort of curve up to launch is pretty normal, especially with an open beta.  But good on WS!  Because it should translate well to sales.

Thanks for your help. Im getting close to preorder.

I looked at UI. Looks like there is ton of addons already avaible? Do we know the policy about this ?

I really like customizing things, art, minimaps etc...

  • sgelsgel Member EpicPosts: 2,197

There really are hundreds of  add-ons already.

Lots of awesome ones (personally I run 12 of them).

Ok thats nice. I dunno how it's possible but that's nice to know ^^

Now im trying to find if they said that some players can still play beta or something before release. I cant find an anwser for this :/ Anyone know ? It's weird because im reading that they are gonna make a big patch before release, but who is gonna test it then?

I can also assume there will be a free trial test or it's a bit too early maybe?

edit ; thanks for your kind help anyway. Improving my shitty monday lol

Sadly, I think you JUST missed the open beta.  It ended last night.  That said, you can pre-order, try the game for a few days thanks to the headstart program, and then decide whether to keep the pre-order before launch.
