Then you should answer his question then because no matter how intelligent a person is, they are not you, they have no idea what you think is a kids game.
I am sorry but your line of logic based on what I said doesnt make any sense.
Besides, tp be honest for those who dont know what I mean and what games I mean then I dont want to engage in a debate with anyway.
Fair enough then, if you don't want to engage in a debate about something, don't bring it up. If you do it's fair game.
no I am sorry it doesnt work that way.
I am expressing an opinion to everyone. Me not wanting to engage in trolling does mean I should express myself
It's not trolling, they are asking you a legit question about a comment you made about what constitutes to you as a kid mmorpg. You keep on dodging it.
If I said Eve online is an example of a kids game would I get banned for trolling or do you think people would believe me when I said it?
If it's an honest opinion why would it be trolling? People will probably won't take your word for it and disagree but doesn't mean it's trolling if you honestly feel that way.
one time I said 'isnt wildstar a kids game'
the mods gave me a warning.
If I said 'Eve is an example of a kids games' there is a good chance they would give me a warning for baiting.
of course Eve is not a kids game.
never the less, like I said, if you dont know what I mean just move the fuck on. I expressed an opinion and I do not want to engage in a debate on the subject that I know I will lose
Then stop responding to me then if you dont want to debate. And I'm pretty sure you got warned for more then just asking "Isnt Wildstar a kids game."
deal!
and no it was literally the ONLY thing I wrote in the entire thread. I swear to god.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
The real question here is not the playing 20 years. It is the difference of opinions of the generations. For instance a person from the Generation X (1965-1979) will have different views or ideas they prefer than say someone from Gen Y (1980-2000) and so on.
It doesn't mean one opinion is better than another. Each person has their own views about things and will agree and disagree. Just look at how many post start with "the new generation wants instant everything" It's an opinion. One I may agree with but it is just that an opinion. No ones opinion is any better than the one you make yourself.
Now if I start listing my credentials, having a degree in networking, having 15 years experience in the gaming field, programming experience, etc....does this make my opinion better, the answer is no. It is still just that my opinion. The best opinions are informed ones you make yourself.
Experience may count for some things but because you played UO, WOW, EQ, etc.... does not mean your opinion is better.

I think the problem however is that those specific differences are not explictly stated or quantified.

Listening to people with experience is not enough it is one of many factors taken in consideration. You get the most from listening to people with successful experiences. With MMO's I take advice from players or developers who are known to be successful and in alignment with my play style. Taking advice from someone who plays in groups with guild mates won't help someone who wants to mostly solo. Same for pvp or pve. Same for crafting vs non crafting game play.

When my grandfather tries to give me advice or explain something to me, I shake my fist & say "You shut your mouth, old man! Your age & experience mean dick in my world. Your ancient bylaws are empty oaths that no one cares about in the world I live in. That world being the future."
Stupid old man with his high-falutin wisdom. Pfft, I already know everything...
Please don't compare the wisdom that your grandfather gathered over the years with that of video games.

Video-games are entertainment, they're not life lessons. Your Grandfathers preference in music of his time, does not make that music any better than any other in a universal sense. It's simply what he knows and grew accustomed to. Same as any other generation, Video-games or more specifically MMO's, are no different in this regard.
