They could always just release the keys all at once instead of faking a high and ongoing demand for them by releasing only ridiculously low numbers each time and stretching the hype with several announcements and article about an unneccessary number of "batches" for the little number of keys released.
Multiple small batches makes it in fact easier for the bots to get keys. You can only fake so much different IPs and prepare multiple accounts at once without high risk of getting caught. Which of course attracts even more fake demand creating such a huge mess.
You think only mmorpg.com is getting the keys? you wouldn't be talking nonsense if you were in open beta right now and stuck in queues.
I know you despise WOW and this frenzy over beta keys must be like rubbing salt in your wounds. I am sorry that Aion your favorite MMO failed in west but for how many years you gonna take it out on WOW? not healthy really.

It's very likely more than half of those entries are bots
One of the bots has used the Tor Network to obtain a different IP address per entry. Not hard at all for MMORPG to just remove entires made via the Tor Network! (Tor Exit Node IP List https://check.torproject.org/exit-addresses )
Of course its always possible that a botter may have a large amount of proxy's as well, but at least banning the freebie proxys would stop a couple of the botters.
Also Captcha Sniper has absolutely no issues decoding MMORPG's capatchas!

Actually that isn't that bad and in fact some really good odds. 13k for 1k keys is 1/13 and we're sitting at 3 tickets I believe which means a 3/13 chance or a 23% chance. Unless the entries are independent for the tickets. Which a 8% chance isn't all that bad either. This is just the first round after all.
Hopefully the last few days doesn't see a skyrocket in enteries and don't see a 50k numbers of entries at the end.

Ohhh yes... because opening the flood gates with a large single batch of keys soooooo much works better than a staggered amount to help alliviate sever demands and allow for a smoother beta performances.

Creeping up to 20K entries now... and counting, this is a couple people with bot like networks for obtaining keys to sell, they do this for a living.

Sadly mmorpg will not disqualify all the accounts that are more then likely bots um say ones that have no post or just one post. and of course the time that account was made. I mean if I can figure it out, then I am sure that the web master for this site can also figure it out.
Think how many WoWheads there are. I can imagine that this website's sweepstake has gathered quite the attention from true WoW fans who haven't been able to get an invitation to the beta. That's what I'm hoping for, at least. I wish they had instated extra restrictions like other users have already mentioned.
Originally posted by bawk I'm surprised there are so many entries but, I feel like most of them are not legitimate.
I for one expected a lot more. I fully expect like 50k or so.
My only beef major beef with these beta giveaways is that those who actually preorded, and even more so for those that bought the collector's edition like myself, are left SOL while complete strangers or bots as some claim here are getting keys while the loyal fans are getting the shitty end of the stick. Bliz should have given the early betas to those who are still playing WoW or have preordered with additional keys to give out to friends and family.

Wondering how many of those are faked.

I guess maybe a hundred?
Is there no way to filter out the cheaters / bots? 1 million to 1 shot for me to get a key at this point. lol
