if anything the changes (as they are now) are going to make the PvP less likely. No one is gong to do cross sea trades witht he rewards they give now. if it werent for people needing to do those runs to craft I would say there wouldnt be any cross sea runs. So no this isnt a PvP game nor is it a PvP saving patch.
I think the patch was purposefully doen the way it was to slow (stop) everyone from advancing. Everyone had advanced too far anyway. But since it is alpha and supposedly a 'test' phase I can see why they let everyone get everything so easy. Now they ave all but stopped progression and are now seeing how class changes have effected the game.
Still up in the air on who calls what shots and who makes the final decisions and that is really the biggest negative this game has because it has a built in excuse for failure because when it fails (and it probably will) Trion and XL can point fingers at each other.
My friend tried it and after a couple of days of PvE all you see is higher level characters camping low level characters and that is player versus player. My friend likes pvp I don't but even him won't play it.
This kind of behavior happens in EACH and EVERY MMO that has PvP elements. Play World of Warcraft on a PvP server and be sure to be ganked the moment you step into contested teritories, EVE online is even worse the moment you leave 0.6 space for lower security, Lineage II has the same story with a full open world PvP system and lots of ganking.
Looks like your friend doesn't like PvP and is nothing more than a carebear who should stick to the fixed faction PvP MMOs...
On the internet when someone decides to annoy some underprepared individual, we tend to call that trolling. It's kind of unfortunate that the same behavior happens in open PvP games and instead we got people calling the guys getting trolled care bears simply because they choose to complain about being a victim.

I just find the game old, ugly, boring, and tedious.
Much better games out there that don't cost me $150.
Honestly Trion realized last year when they first got their hands on the game it was a piece of over-hyped crap.
They spent over a year on this before they ever took it to Alpha pay to test.
They knew the game had zero shelf life once people actually got to play it so the only way to get any money off the game was to get it BEFORE the players could see what they were paying for.

Irony at its finest.

No fear, Orgone.
We will get more than enough victims on the servers, because this game is advertised as "harmless". Gank, Griefplay, Scamming, everything´s allowed

The act was mildly amusing at first but now is just old.
