They kind of made sure that will not happen with Serenity...
And look at it from the bright side. with only one season it never had time to go stale or get crappy. =P

This is from the Firefly Online Facebook page:
Players take on the role of a ship captain as they hire a crew and lead missions, while trading with and competing against millions of other players like themselves. Much like the crew of Serenity, the Firefly-class transport ship featured in the original show, players must do whatever it takes to survive in the Verse: find a crew, find a job and keep flying.
Firefly Online is currently in development by Quantum Mechanix Inc. (QMx) and Spark Plug Games, an independent video game studio. The game is expected to be released during the Spring of 2015 on Windows and Mac OS desktop via Steam, as well as iOS and Android OS mobile devices.
Firefly Online players will play a captain in the Verse that’s struggling to get by, just like Capt. Mal Reynolds from the show, and dive in the following features:
• Create a crew, customize a shiny ship and explore the Verse.
• Aim to misbehave in space and planet-side adventures.
• Pick-up and play anywhere with cross-platform, cross-device game play support.
• Engage with unique social features connecting Firefly fans.

Hey its Castle ... whats he doing in this game

So it's more like Wing Commander: Privateer set in the Firefly universe. Know what? That's good enough for me.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

Someone mentions Firefly and people get excited. Time to come down to earth, it is a browser based game and not even close to a MMO game.
While they claim it will be multiplayer, I expect that will never fly. If fact I really doubt the game will ever make it to release. The staff is very inexperienced and they don't have much funding because of that.
Maybe we will see a Firefly game someday, but this is not it.
Browser based?
Looks it to me. I sure as hell hope not.
If so it will be as popular as BSG and Game of Thrones online.
"I understand that if I hear any more words come pouring out of your **** mouth, Ill have to eat every fucking chicken in this room."
This right here says it all for me as well.
And every single character played by Alan Tudyk will a) be bad, or b) die.
Or, c) both.
Unity is a very power engine for browser games.

You might not like the art-style or the direction they take it. This however can not be blamed to the limitiation of a browser based game.
In fact looking at this movie
It clearly show that whatever engine they use. It can create good looking graphics.
About the only thing the Unity engine is used for is kids in school fooling around with games. Beyond that it is a huge POS.
No decent developer would ever attempt to use it due to it's many limitations. The art style is highly limited by the Unity engine, it has nothing to do with it's being in a browser which itself is limiting.
