Well you know, you kinda want to lvl up to 50? If not then ditch quests and do the rest; but don't hope do to PvP.
Well you know, there could be no levels at all, and the game would be 100 times more fun and "sandboxy"?
Yeah it could have been, and it would have been even more amazing. But we are not discussing "what if". The game has been like that from the start, no sudden changes or anything. The answers were on the internet for years.

What would crafters do with no item decay and no gear levels/power curve? The game isn't complex enough to work without levels, power progression is essential element to the game.

And it changes what exactly? Its not like I paid for beta or anything. Just stating the fact that this game feels like generic themepark crap.
Considering it takes ~4 days to get to 50 if you want to judge the game for the 1% of what it is about then go ahead. Don't expect anyone to take you seriously though.

Yes, you can either quest/grind mobs or just fairly pointlessly run around. Same like in any other themepark/linear MMO.
You played EVE so you know the difference when the game is designed horizontally. There is crap load of actual, meaningful content for you, regardless whether you are 1 hour into a game or 5 years.
That was my point, the game is not "do whatever you want" but usual "level up and do end game content".
So you are not liking Archeage and want to trhow around your tantrums as you coulnt see further then the questing and mob grinding ?
Exploring for gilda stars Exploring to steal whatever you can find
Doing tons and tons of pvp to gain honor Doing trade pack stealing cross continental
Gaining skills in one of the >24< proffesions
Playing the market to gain profits
Roaming the oceans for pvp
Or any of the many things this game has to offer but its just questing themepark crap right ?
K man LOL troll so more pubbie. Maybe you need to open your eyes instead of whining and crying with your false in your head themepark crap.

Yeah, joining world PVP at lvl 15.... and I am supposed to be a trolling...

Cant stop laughing at this and your gripe #1 , this is exactly how I felt in beta.
Makes me wonder why are these companies even trying? Whole decade of copy-pasting and failing, even FPS games are getting more innovative.
100% agree. Watching videos of this game and now finally getting to play it has been a whole different ballgame.
This game is one of those exceptions where it looks like it is fantastic in videos but when you actually play it's very generic and cheap feeling, very floaty and serious immersion breaking problems. Can't say i've ever experienced a game I thought looked so great but ended up playing the exact opposite of how I expected to this extent.
Definitely have a problem with this game at a core level and would be pissed if I had spent $150.

Because there is not only questing? Do you even read? Anyway goodbye, have fun in another game.
Originally posted by An4thor You should do some researches before buying games. Immagining things and get disappointed that you immagined wrong, why do it? Just google stuff..
Exactly. Guy buys a game based on what he thinks it should be, and complains loudly that it isn't what he wanted. It's crazy.
The questing is standard in AA, for sure, but it's a good way of introducing a new player to the systems and the world. it's justs training wheels really.
The combat is also standard, but it's a standard that I prefer so I'm fine with that.
Once you see beyond these two standards though the game is immense. I don't regret a penny I have spent on it.

I did have have fun from the moment I logged in. But then I knew the systems that were on offer and knew that they appealed to me. I Googled before spending money and knew it suited my taste as a game.
The answer is for you though is that you shouldn't punish yourself. You should, though, just play a game with systems that you enjoy, rather than complaining about ones that have systems that you don't.
AA obviously just isn't the flavour of ice cream that you prefer. There is no need to tell us about it really... Just go buy another flavour.
Quest? Grind mobs? Use your glider to find all the exploration points that award gilda stars which combined with the quest awarded Gilda stars lets you easily build your first cutter, which then enables you to explore the oceans both above and below the water.

Seriously? You're gonna take your tutorial obtained frigate to engage in meaningful PvP in nul space?
If I didn't want to craft in EvE, what else is there? Grind missions for ISK, PvP, or explore? Sounds like pretty much the same to other games, right?
While I have my own personal gripes about the game all of yours seemed pretty null and inaccurate. I won't argue that the game went downhill after the 1.2 patch but I personally think the crafting is well done, and resources being rare to gather is a good thing. And your complaint about things taking time to grow? Are you kidding? Of course it takes time to grow dude, if not the market would be insanely flooded with EVERYTHING.
idk, I don't really enjoy AA anymore but a large majority or your points are just childish.
So, for some reason I can't begin to explain, I read your entire post. It can really be summed up with the following:
"This game makes me so mad because I can't do everything I want without spending time doing it."
This^
It is a mmorpg even if there is more pvp in this one, it still is a mmorpg. You have to do some quest. At least tehy give quest to level up faster, no need to do them all just do the one that offer the items you want.
eg: boat, mount, farm, etc.
And skip the rest of them if not giving anything of value. As everyone says, there is no need to do them all. Even if you see them none is expecting you to do them all not even the devs.
I just can't figure out where the mob loot went. It's like they forgot to have mobs drop loot. Maybe I didn't get far enough to see the mob loot. Also labor points to open loot and look at equipment is really really stupid.
I intend to play at release, I'm just concerned about a few of the systems they have in place.
Originally posted by whisperwynd If I didn't want to craft in EvE, what else is there? Grind missions for ISK, PvP, or explore? Sounds like pretty much the same to other games, right?
Theres one difference:
- if you want to pvp in EVE, you train for pvp and do pvp. Craft? you train crafting and learn excel. Same goes for pve combat, mining, exploration and basically everything else.
In other hand:
- if you want to play pvp in ArcheAge, you will get punished with 50 levels of most generic mmo quests
- if you want to do endgame craft in ArcheAge, you do quests first
- if you want to do endgame farming in Archeage, you do quests
- if you want to do trade routes, you do quests
- if you want to be pirate, you do fucking quests
Every single, semi interesting feature this game had to offer has been killed by questing.
Exact same feeling when playing the game Got a Beta Invite game feels boring as hell, add Memory Leaks, and Crashes likely due to AMD Drivers and meh there has to be a better game out there.
Like now I have to look forward to Black Desert and see if it feels the exact same way.
Like one of the common problems with this game is it doesn't show quests on the map unlike WOW where any non complete quests would show up or for example trade routes or being a pirate quests should say Go here to accept and do this quest or players are made unaware of such content.

I've played EvE, I know what it offers and the time is takes to become effective in anything. Inactive time that, yes, allows you to do other things like mine, run missions, etc.
Some love to mine to pass the time, but others find it akin to your definition of quests. The only real difference is your subjective view of questing and how you feel AA is forcing you to do them. Just like the tutorial in EvE, they are meant to reveal what is possible to do later, but also for those that don't mind questing.
The fact you feel they are necessary is just like those in EvE that feel they MUST mine to pass the time or kill rats til then. I don't see ppl saying EvE is generic because of that.
I'm not comparing the two games but AA certainly offers more long-term than a 'generic mmo'. I've seen that in many vids and one day of play.
The irony of this thread is not just people crying about doing quest, its that once you tell them they can avoid quest because its a sandbox, they cry about not knowing what to do in the sandbox. When you point out those things they can do in the sandbox, they don't want to do any of those things.
In essence, what it really boils down to is they were expecting to be able to log in and do end game PvP. After learning they would not be able to do that immediately, or at least with minimal effort, they then take to forums and complain about the game ad nauseam. They haven't a clue of the meaning of an MMORPG.
It's more than obvious that the OP want a completely different game from what AA intend to be. In short, he wants a ultra-mega-casual experience where he can jump and get everything in a short time. No mmo has this, even the ultra-casual themeparks like GW2 and WoW.
I dislike certain kind of games, like multiplayer FPS. However i never went to a Counter-Strike or CoD forum complain that they dont have storyline, complexity, economy and so on. Because this, i wonder why the heck a person that obviously likes a completely different kind of game comes to this forum do threads like this.
Bad news for most of you then, I'm not leaving (see my first post). I'm going to stick around, craft the most miserable, tedious, lucrative cap I now know people will NEED, sell it for huge profit and make people realize how pathetic this game is compared to what it could and should have been. Basically, it's going to be people like me that will stick around and make this game suck really hard for anyone that comes along afterwards - 4 day head-start + patron status = pain for anyone starting later.
Every game has handled crating better than this one... and I do mean EVERY game. As I said in #3; it's complicated for the sake of being complicated. Most recipes have no rhyme or reason and many rely on random drops from loot bags or crop harvests. It's nothing simple like Chop tree -> Make log -> Carve stick -> create fishing pole.
Here's how the recipe really looks: Bamboo stick (carpentry) -> Fishing hook (Handicraft) -> Fishing line (Weaving loom) -> Wooden reel (Carpentry). Oh right... bamboo pole requires Bamboo (carpentry) 2 fabrics (Tailoring 5,000 skill). Fabric requires 100 cotton... found by growing or gathering on farms.
How is this some kind of revolutionary system?! Almost any game lets you craft something that should be a simple beginner tool from basic supplies. Not AA! The game's intent is to make you grind for the sake of making you grind doing the most meaningless tasks in the game. Gring levels like AC had me do? No problem. Grind crafting like UO had me do? Still no issue. Grind a useless skill to advance another useless skill to grind the one I want. Hell no! The rewards DO NOT outweigh the costs in this game.
What kind of withcraft have this game to make even people that say to dislike it wanting to play it anyway?
