Why are you even here? Let me guess, you bought xbox one? and you're trying to make your purchase to mean something? I'm only assuming because I don't know anything about you, but I know for sure that you are against PS in general, and from your words of choice, it gives an impression that you are not happy about Sony winning at all.

Even if the guy left MS, it was still a statement and a challenge, he was still with MS when he said that, and if MS even have any honor or dignity, they should not abandoned what this guy who represent MS at the time said. A real man sticks to his words.

As long as we're on the topic of misinformation, it should be noted that the PLAYSTATION unit is profitable. In fact, they reported a quarterly profit of $40 million. See, sometimes in companies they have what they call "Business Units" which operate autonomously.

 

If you're having trouble with all the big words, "If Sony ONLY made Playstations and PS games, they would have made $40 million in profit this quarter."

The funny thing though, is that the XB1 is the less capable machine compared to the PS4 despite it initially costing quite a bit more, and even though they reduced the cost of the thing now, by ditching a significant piece of hardware, they are also making a loss on the things, even so, it is still a much less capable machine than the PS4, something that is hard to brush away no matter how much positive spin Microsoft try to put on it, i still wouldn't buy a PS4 though because i prefer the PC, if there is one thing that hasn't changed, is that the average PC is far more capable than any of the consoles, and is the primary reason i didn't buy into the 360 or the PS3 either

Less capable, as in inferior hardware spec's which is as it happens a well documented fact, something to do with the PS4 having a superior GPU and better RAM than the XB1 does (hint, more bandwidth is better than less!) its not even worth arguing about because you would have to be blinkered not to know this. But as for losses, both MS and Sony had been losing money hand over fist, the difference is, that Sony or at least the department that the PS4 is part of, were showing a profit, how much money either company had been losing is something that isn't that easy to quantify, MS especially because of how convoluted the companies finances are, and as i said, how much they are losing on the XB1 is something that is hotly contested, and without more data from MS about actual sales rather than units shipped to retail,  then guesstimates are all we have, maybe Superdata can give us some 'guesstimates' on that too

 

I'm not contesting what you ps4 boys have written down on your spreadsheet.  You said "much less capable" just because the specs are better doesn't mean much when they run the same game at the Same specs as Destiny will show and games going forward will show.  So my question now that the xb1 will be running at 1080 what exactly will the ps4 be more capable at?

I get that you really like the XB1, but, that doesnt change the fact that it is a less capable machine than the PS4 is, that you think that is somehow a lie can only mean you are either so far in denial that you can't see it, or you just don't understand what the differences in the hardware are in practical terms, personally i am really not that much of a fan of the PS4, both consoles have imo at least, chosen to use hardware that is 'questionable' their choice of processors is positively bizarre, i mean, 8 core, fine, but 1.6ghz processors.. how daft is that, but okay they can make up for it a bit by having a decent GPU as they are strictly games machines at the end of the day, the difference however there is that the GPU in the PS4 is a newer generation than the one in the XB1, which is further offset by the fact that the GPU in the XB1 does not have access to Gddr5 Ram, the bandwidth of which is the primary reason why the PS4 is able to run games natively in 1080, and without getting into the whole my ram is better than your ram argument, its worth pointing out that DDR3 is only used for system memory these days, that its being used, even if its in conjunction with a very small amount of Esram, is probably a decision that will haunt Microsoft for years, pretty sure they won't make that mistake again, hopefully when it comes to making an XB2 they will overcome this 'oversight' with the proper spec'd Ram, sure enough the XB1 could use some, if it had been fitted with better Ram then MS wouldn't have had to try and overclock the GPU in order to try and make up some of the difference - it didn't.

I only bought a PS4 for the games, Sony always gets some top notch and unique exclusives. Little Big Planet alone is worth the $400.

When Microsoft decided to release an "Entertainment" console rather than a "Gaming" console.  When Microsoft decided to never release an operating system for PCs optimized for gaming when a huge percentage of their non-business market is gamers.  When Microsoft released the XB1 with the Kinect as a requirement, forcing developers to consider the Kinect as always being there, and then later releasing a cheaper version of the XB1 without the Kinect.  Games For Windows Live.

Seriously though, this generation was the perfect time to switch between PS4 and XB1 since neither console had backwards compatibility. It would be a fresh start. However XB1 lied to us several times, first about always on DRM, then about having to be connected to the internet all the time even for non-online games, then about how the Kinnex was mandatory. You also have to pay for their online service and other game companies are joining the "fun" and putting up their own pay walls to get things that used to be free like demos.

It's enough to make one give up console gaming completely.

Lack of vision? What are you talking about? You are aware you can watch netflix amazon and hundreds of other apps through the xb for free right? How in the world can you come to the conclusion they are focusing on cable tv? Sure they have a great feature (IMO) that runs everything through your tv but by no means is that the main focus.  Go watch the last two expos it's all about games now.

If you look 5 years into the future its fairly easy to see that cable TV viewership will continue to fall while internet viewership will continue to increase. If that is the case why the fuck would you lead your reveal of your gaming console with TV features? what the actual hell???? who actually made that plan?

 

meanwhile, Valve gave away a million dollars and made its game the largest viewed gaming compeition ever.

I think your missing the point, what Sean has said is pretty relevant, Tv for better or worse is becoming less important as part of the modern 'entertainment' package, i wouldn't have thought it even a couple of years ago, but these days, its lucky if the Tv is even turned on before 7pm, and even then only for maybe an hour, and thats only because the wife absolutely has to watch Emmerdale! she even watches Jeremy Kyle on the internet already, and im seriously thinking of buying her some headphones for when she watches it on her laptop, if Microsoft could at least match Steam then they would have something, but GFWL was an epic fail, and what services they do offer (MS) they tend to want to charge for, its probably only because Sony don't require PS+ for things like Netflix etc, that MS has been forced to drop the gold requirement for. Steam needs more competition, if Sony can provide it, then we all benefit, MS seems to be looking in the wrong direction though, sooner they play catchup the better, because the internet is definitely replacing Tv, and not exactly in slow increments either.
