This mentally blows my mind. So I have to bore myself for X number of hours until I've earned the right to enjoy the game?

No, sorry. That idea may have been tolerated in the infancy of the genre, but it's completely and utterly unacceptable now.

LOL - if you can't experience the game 'The way it is supposed to be' at level 1, then the game is kind of doomed.  This is a sad statement when fan boi's say this utter tripe. If you can't get to 30, being bored to tears, why would one wait for level 30 unless you are a masochist.

I am happy you are enjoying the game. It is the most middle of the road tripe I have ever played.

Let's say it right, gives back what you pay in.

AA has NO elements I want is a game at all. NOTHING. I thought it would be a decent crafting game but with all the LP you need to gather and craft, I don't see that happening.

The argument about what's possible in a game is lost. It's a meaningless point. What will it matter to anyone who is uninitiated with AA, who is logging in for the 1st time, if they are unaware that they have such options available to them? They are unfamiliar with AA, they don't know the game, it's systems, it's crafting, it's mechanics or anyone else in the game. What do you think they will do? They will head straight for what they know. The 1st breadcrumb the game sets out before them.

Even if they do figure out something to do the labor points will kill it for them. I couldn't muster enough labor points to do anything. I would harvest a little, open a few of the lootbags, and unlock some quest gear and that pretty much depleted my LP pool. Maybe some people want to play management with an energy system, but I don't. I want to adventure, craft, and farm mobs/loot. Not the game for me at all. Somehow I doubt I'm in the minority this time, but you never know.

Its not a solo mans game if you want to craft hire people to gather and refine the materials you need , i heard mob loot wont cost lp to open anymore not sure if only rumor.

But if its not then you will gain the money and lp to continue crafting while adventuring/ farming mobs and looting them.

I'm going to butt in at this point..

As you can see from my sig I am a fan of the game overall but by no means a fanboi.

Right the level 1-30 deal..  The whole first 30 levels are a tutorial that introduce you to various parts of the game and its world.

    Things like:-

    1. Getting your 1st mount

    2. Getting your 1st glider

    3. Crafting your first set of gear using mats from zone mobs and some half decent weapons

    4. Getting your small farm, Donkey for trade runs, large farm

    5. Getting your first entry level house

    6. Getting your first seaworthy vessel (rowboat)

    7. Getting your 1st real ship (clipper) for 50 Gilda or-

    8. Getting a farmhouse, also 50 Gilda

Now there's a lot to get through in 1 to 8 and none of it is particularly quick.  There are 3 types of quests in AA and these are :-

    1. Normal zone quests - Extremely generic and boring but at least some should be done as they are a source of income for buying seeds, livestock and saplings for use in the more sandbox area's of the game

    2. Story mode quests - These are essential to do if interested in most of the thigns listed in my 8 points above as they reward you with Gilda stars which is the currency on Mirage Isle to buy house and ship designs etc

    3. Blue Salt quests - These are the quests for the different vocations such as logger, miner etc that intro you to the same..  Not a lot of point in doing these as the rewards for doing them will reward you with a set of clothing for the quests vocation.  The clothing however needs beefing up as they don't do much apart from boost proficiency by a couple of k which is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

The most famous of these quests are for the farms and donkey which are essential for anyone that wants to craft and trade and a good intro to how these work.

You can jump in game and not touch any of these quests but then you're likely to be one of the many people constantly in faction chat asking where they get a mount or glider, or one of my favourites, "where can I get water"?

People have said it before.  This game is a sandpark plain and simple..  Questing in this game sets you up for later in the game and kits you out with basic knowledge and equipment ready for your graduation (for want of a better word) around lvl 30.

Yes zone quests are piss boring and very generic so do a few for the coin and hop onto the next story quest which in general have a decent story to them and so worth listening to..  Gives a sense of your place in the world and the all important Gilda rewards.

I will say if you're a player who is only interested in PvP, and dislikes anything themepark and questing, then do yourselves a favour and look elsewhere for you're fix..  This is not going to be the game for you.

You absolutely have to sandpark in this game to do (not get to) pretty much anything...  Themepark+Sandbox = Sandpark = PvP, crafting, naval warfare, building houses, claiming land and building castles, siegeing blah blah blah blah

I've done 1-30 over 7 times on different characters learning the different skillsets and stuff and am still not bored of them to the point of quitting and getting no further like some...  You want to know why??

I know these quests are there to make my character better and to give me essential game knowledge for further along.

I understand what these quests and their rewards will enable me to do later down the line.  The quests are an investment who's main reward is not instant (which is obviously the issue for the insta-grat crowd).

Well anyway I think I've said enough....  I think most people who have an issue with questing 1 - 30 don't know what they are being setup to participate in later.

If you intend on being F2P in this game and not even get Patron with APEX from players selling, then stay away from this game.  The ride will be extremely rough and throttled back which evidentally, most people out there cannot handle.

Patron via APEX should be the absolute minimum for playing this game you should aim for...

Sub if you wish to play how the game is actually designed would be my best advice.

    Bye for now :)

Why is it that most defenses I see for AA uses sweeping generalizations?

"Every MMO has a leveling process"

Yeah well some are still better than others.

"Every MMO gives advantages for multiple accounts"

Yeah, well some MMOs give advantages that are much more advantageous than other MMOs

"Every MMO has some kind of RMT/P2W in it"

Not ever MMO has a large part of its development team focused on creating and maintaining items and services in the shop and thus not on actual game play and content. And that's just one issue, I'm not even going down this road any further.

    And the list would continue.......

Well, I'd say that anyone who calls their opinions facts, ARE fanbois.

The way you defend the shortcomings of this game, is very transparent. Thanks to you, it's clear that bothering with this game is likely to be a waste of time, so I'm just moving on, and I'll try to forget ever hearing about it.

    Thank you!
