I guess as a PC only player we'll have the advantage of being forced into waiting to see if it lives up to the hype.

You can watch the game, but it's not as epic as playing it, so far it's absolutely incredible. Love love love the pvp too, I'm sure pve is going to get more challenging than it it right now too. First impression though, I can't wait to get home from work tomorrow and I am not even done playing yet tonight.

I know i will enjoy this game when i get it, but i certainly hope this is not the evolution of the FPS genre.

Why? because i do not want the future of gaming to be online only. Do not try to evolve other genres into an online only thing. Mmorpgs, arena based mmofps, and a few other sub genres are already there to please online-only fans.

Online-only brings more limitations than freedom, at the cost of even higher amounts of money. That future isnt worth it.

Planetside 2 is over a year old and it outdoes Destiny in almost every aspect.

    Please explain.

I am guessing you have been playing Destiny on console too? can you break down these aspects for us?

So what is it about this game that is "OMG So awesome!" ? I see people and marketing hyping the shit out of it. Is it just because it's Bunjie and they made Halo which was a big hit series?

Maybe it's because I've already spent so much time in games like Planetside 1/2, Defiance, Borderlands 1/2 co-op, etc. and this doesn't seem all that new to me.

They are different types of FPS though

Planetside 2 is a sandbox PvP game

Destiny is a PvE loot based game with dungeons and raids much like Diablo style with arena PvP on the side

They attract different gamers.  If Destiny was trying to be a sandbox pure PvP game than it would be logical to compare.

    Basically apples and oranges

Massive battles involving 1000s of players - including land/air vehicles -

    Destiny's scope - 6 players.

    PS2 - huge world maps

Destiny - small single playable map per world.

The scope of PS2 - massive

The scope of Destiny - small

    PS2 - free to play

    Destiny - $60

Yes PS2 is a PvP only game - but it blows Destiny out of the water in terms of longevity and replay.

According to you. The things you listed aren't things that everyone might like. So if those things don't interest them, just how exactly does PS2 blow Destiny out of the water? At the end of the day none of the things you listed matter one bit. If you were a "gamer" the only thing that would really matter is, "is it fun?" Also how exactly are you judging the longevity of a game that isn't even out yet? What is your conclusion based around? That PS2 is a pvp game? That it has been out longer?

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

This game is going to be as huge as that one game that came out recently, oh what is it's name?  The one they were hyping so bad?  Big mech robots, "genre changing features"...Er...oh yea, Titanfall!

/onto the next flavor of the month(s) please.

I don't understand why you would cut off a huge section of your potential playerbase by not having it launch on PC as well.  That's just a bad business model.  Every gamer knows that PC is the best platform.  My PC has more flops than the PS4 and XBox combined...

MMO players play on PC.  Let's make an MMO that won't launch on PC...seems legit lol.

While I'm a bit mad as to why they made 2 iterations for Xbox and PS4. I can understand why Bungie decided not to launch with a PC version. It's just not their comfort zone as they've been a Console focused company for years. They might just be holding off on it so that they can properly port it to PC.

So Bungie isn't the ones who made the pc versions for Halo, Halo 2 etc? I would have to agree with you if this is so but if they are the ones who did the pc Halo versions well then their comfort zones should have expanded by now with some experience with pc porting already under their belt.

Anyhow on topic I just broke down and pre-ordered the glacier white ps4 destiny bundle as it has become available on Amazon again but I think I did so more for the white ps4 than Destiny as I wasn't all too impressed in the beta.

People who try to compare destiny to Planetside 2 really show that they have no clue whatsoever what Destiny is about. They are simply completely different games, comparing them is like comparing League of Legends to Everquest 2. Yes both titles have PvP but that's where the similarities end.

If you're looking for a sandbox mass PvP game then yes, Planetside 2 is your game. Destiny's strenght is in it's PVE (of which there is none in PS2), in that it really shines brightly. While it does have a very solid PvP game, these are more small scale battlegrounds as opposed to the mass battles in PS2.

Although I do like PvP, I could never "get into" PS2 for some reason, which is strange because i do love me some world vs world in guild wars, and I do love shooters. I really love Destiny though, this game is golden.

I'll wait for the PC version. For some reason, I can't play shooters with a controller.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

Same here. After years of being able to use all my arm and hand muscles to control my crosshair by a moving a mouse, I am not able to use just my thumb to control a crosshair. It doesn't feel right in the slightest.

Also, 30FPS is a joke in 2014. Especially when it comes to shooters.
