I imagine the rating is because of a lot of really ticked off players down voting the game after they got stuck in the queue and then threw it off their hdd in a fit of rage and frustration.

Mmorpg.com itself has very little to do with the rating.

Looks like the major points lost were in service and some other similar areas.

You do realize different people have different opinions right?  If you were hearing this from the same person then it might get old, but there are thousands of people all with different ideas. /shrug

The game itself is one of the best I have played in years... however trion dropped the ball with their launch and it hurt their ratings.

GW2 user rating is based in 1227 votes so that means something whatever we agree or not.

Imo is a good game, just fail to me as a mmorpg because is not what im looking for. But i admit is a very high quality produt imo.

Actually... many of those top games fluctuate a lot. Its pretty obvious the scores are being tampered with a lot. GW2 and TSW have been quite fishy with their scores. So yeah, I'd highly be skeptical of those games up top. Its odd when the score for a game that is been out a while suddenly rises up points each day as the other very slowly falls, before the game reaches top and the scores seem to become more steady. Its pretty obvious GW2 score is rather bogus in particular, though I'd easily believe all the games up top there have vote manipulation.

That said, lower scores... CAN be tampered with, but mostly its just high up scores that will recieve most of the fake votes, with a few negative ones to push others away from the top. Archage likely didn't get too much vote manipulation were its at.

I think you are looking at the user hype rating, mmorpg.com has yet to write one and give their score. That comes like a month or two after launch. But I could be wrong on the time line.

I understand the 6.6 rating...   (caveat -  all these rating are totally subjective...)

The quest system offers nothing new. I was also appalled like another person on these forums at the quest to go pick weeds...  come on - really guys....  go pick weeds............  makes me feel like the chosen one......  chosen for what exactly?

This game is supposed to be all about the crafting and sandbox characteristics... but crafting is severely hampered by the labor point system.   And just try to find a tree to harvest....   good luck with that...  you usually have to become a criminal to harvest a tree...  talk about eco-terrorism.....  cut a tree, go to jail.

The graphics are ok, but nothing exceptional about them.  And the music....   oh god - that music... ( I know this one is totally subjective).  I woke up this morning with that mall music in my head and immediately poured myself an "adult beverage" to...   make it go away...  PLEASE, make it go away....

I am a patron so I haven't had the queue issues.... if they are as stated I can understand the frustration but in fairness I can't speak to that issue...  and unless some things change, I expect I won't be a patron on this game much longer....

(the show stopper....  I'm just not having fun.....)

I'm really trying to like this game; on paper the specifications look great....  its got everything I want in a game.  But engineering specifications and the manufacturing delivery of the product are, in this case, two very different things.

Right now,  I understand exactly why this game got a 6.6 rating...

Ask Koreans and Russians they will tell you what a jewel it is.

I  think a score of 6 is too generous for this game.

The ones I tend to stick with are the ones that make me go "wow" in the first 30 minutes. The more "wow" moments I get the longer I'll probably play it. And when I say "wow!" I don't mean that pos from Blizzard, I'm talking those little things that make you think wow man that's cool.

I played a couple of the beta weekends for AA and I can't remember a single "wow", so my rating would be even lower than 6.6. The game just didn't grab me, it felt clunky, dated and generic. I'd give it a 5, it was so generic it just felt average so a 5 is all it deserves.

If you think it's a 9 more power to you. I hope you really enjoy playing it, but it's not going to be the same for everyone.

Well, that's one way of playing games. I tend to agree about this for my regular games but I know MMOs can be slow to pick up. I wonder how many wow moment people had when they played EQ. That game was boring as shit for a long time yet people are praising it as the best MMO ever.

But to be honest I did get a lot of wow moments in WoW :) WoW showed me that MMOs can be fun unlike that boring pos from Sony - EQ.

I loved UO but had too many technical issues at the time so I ultimately gave up on it.

I see where you're coming from there but bear with me. After playing UO, you have to admit that entering a fully 3d world with hundreds of other players can induce a wow moment or two. Something about EQ hooked me in. The same thing happened with DAoC.

When I got into the beta for EVE, the first time I undocked my ship was a huge WOW!. The game was just so gorgeous. The visuals, the sound effects, everything.

Every MMO I've played for more than a month has had these little things that just put a smile on your face, and they usually happen in the first 30 minutes of play for me. I'm not saying that I play for 30 minutes then pack it all in if I don't get those moments, but I can generally tell if the game's a keeper or not.

Most MMO's I've played have been sub games and you paid for the box so I always play my 30 days to see where it goes. But almost every one that I stuck with I knew in the first, I dunno, let's say first hour at most, that they were going to be worth it.

Sadly for me, AA just didn't deliver a wow moment or put a smile on my face.

GW2 scores here pretty much reflect all game review sites. I don't follow your logic at all. You are saying the moderators here are manipulating the scores?

Wait, Lineage 1, still wildly popular in S. Korea, bombed everywhere in the west though.  Probably the same can be said for Aion and L2 as well.

Games can be very popular in one region and not so much in others.

And that one region is US you think? Lineage was popular in Korea as you said and AA was a dud in Korea. So that should be reason enough to give red flags.

IE just because one game was super successful in Korea yet did bad in the US doesn't mean the vice-versa would be the case, I guess.

I can't think of many games that were loved in the US that were not loved in Asia.  If anything, US Gamers seem to have higher standards and/or less-open-minded-tastes (Asians like some wiiiiieeerd games that are actually kinda neat for what they are but would never fly in the US sometimes) in many cases from what I can tell, which is why games that do poorly in the US still do well in Asia but the vice-versa is so rare.

I'm part of a guild in a huge alliance so the game is fun since we can PVP in raids. I am not certain how fun the game would be as a solo or very small guild base.

Maybe but the guy i quoted was giving an example of MMO which was quite successful in Korea. When a game fails to impress its own home crowd.... it gotto be giving some red flags. Same happened in Russia. So lets see if we will get a third strike.

Its a gem alright, those founders spent a lot to queue up nicely for, hours, and hours, and hours and......................

Thatg is not fair, you do realize that ALL of the negativity towards Archeage has not been about the game but rather the handling of it's pay system and the Que's which are all Trion's doing.Trion did not make the game,XL games did and without me rating it overall,i can truly say it is every bit as good as any other Themepark type game.

Also would que's not represent the game is VERY popular,so much so that people are waiting in line to play it?

The way Trion handles AA has become an integral part of the game experience. In that respect 6.6 is a high score.

for a AA free to play game I think its good.

but still not interested in playing, mmos are boring to me these days lets see what EQN brings.

I just rated AA on this web site using their criteria, and i gave it a 7.7.

I like the game a lot... If I were to just pick a score I would have said solid 8, 8.5 if you're into pvp, which I'm not.

You know how you know this game is good. It has a low score from this sites user base. Look at the top ranked games and tell me these people know what their doing.
