I gave the game a run (free trial) the other day as it is always fun being around at the start of a game. While i just kept to myself and watched and excepted that i wasn't going to be owning a home or land anytime soon i enjoyed the experience to a degree. I did enjoy the main story line right up until it finished at lvl 27?.....seemed a bit short but there you go.
The trade routes were a good idea, running along a road and seeing people farm their land and load it up to take to the market (at the risk of getting ganked) was nice. Jury......i thought was a good idea, you can do the crime, but get caught and off to jail you go.
Standing on the docks at level 8 putting my row boat in the water and seeing a clan boat come around the corner full of reds, set me running like a noob. (The last i saw of them they were wiping out the docks) There did seem to be more going on than just the usual quest quest grind.
However, after the main story ended my interest did kinda dry up. I'd have to sub so i can do professions and its not likely ill be getting land to farm. I'm guessing i'd be left with becoming a pirate and ganking traders off to the market or griefing home owners by knocking their houses down.
But really for me it just came down to the fact i couldn't really make a class i wanted to play, Cloth armor and 1 hand + shield wins atm so no plate wearing mofo for me.
Caught trying to spin it again DMKano? Trion sold founders packs on the premise of exlcusivity. Not a damn person bout the founders pack for any other reason than getting in early enough to get land. Trion new ahead of time there wasnt enough to go around on the opening servers. They took advantage of people by leading to them to believe that buying the founders pack would get them land. You can literally go to their website and not one mention anywhere on the website is made of "limited land"
Im still waiting for that answer, are there more negative posts than positive posts about AA on this site?
First of all, founder packs are exclusive, that is what made them founder; it has it's power to make people purchase, but they definitely don't have to buy it if they find the exclusivity not worth it.
Secondly, no land promised list under founder packs. Only "headstart" which Trion delivered. If you actually played alpha, which $150 pack gives you, then you would imagine how hard the land would be getting in release. If you got the lower tier, a taste of beta, where counts like a small release, would make you think of that as well. I cannot see anywhere they took advantage of people... I mean, after I played the alpha, I actually see myself not owning a good big land in release; I've long past my hardcore days, and I am very happy with my 8x8.
Thirdly, the game itself is advertised as opened world housing. If you played any of alpha and beta, by the taste of it you'd understand the land is limited. Every experienced players know the lands is limited. For brand new players who didn't play any of alpha and beta, it's a learning time. Beside, as F2P, or late sub, they would have known first what sub entitle to, and they would researched, via guild, faction chat, or google, that land is limited and sub does entitle to own the land, the notion, but not to own the land, the virtual property.
Out of all honest, I really start to begin that it is a very harsh game on F2P players, as the required AFK time for LP is too much... But what you listed isn't fitting my arse-like opinions. It's all self-interpretation. If you really think Trion is a tricky company, then I suppose you can't survive in this F2P, P2W games filled market. Best of the luck.
You make some good points, the issue for me was, I didnt know just how little land there actually was. After several game crashes I was stuck in the queue for most of the head start day. I actually picked up the game at the behest of some old guildmates of mine, they explained about the land grab, but I didnt hvave a chance in hell after spending all day in the queue.
Point out to me where it says on the AA website that it says land is so limited that buying the founders pack means diddly squat as far as getting land. I certainly didnt read it anywhere, else Id have said no thanks.
P.S. my "head start" weekend consisted of 20+ hours of queue time.

Oh yeah you can download it for free and play it for free - what a rip off!!!
Also did Trion force anyone to pay $150 - .... I missed when they were going around cities with guns and robbing folks of their cash.

Nowhere did Trion say - buy a pack and your land is 100% guaranteed
People that fail to do research on a product - it's their own damn fault
Well I bought this RV and sales guys said it had cruise control - salesman never told me it couldn't drive itself !
They took advantage of me!

stop apologizing and answer my question. Are there more negative posts than positive posts on this site concerning AA?
there are more negative posts... but you should know dissatisfied people are one only ones that write reviews. all the people that love archeage are happily playing it while people who hate it are here whining.
if you dont like the game cool.. go play something you like... or you could just be miserable and keep focusing on something you dont like. whatever floats your boat.
A debate requires rebuttal, you have decided to circumvent the hundreds of players who have said exactly what the OP has said by calling out calendar math? Thats not a rebuttal thats a cop out.
100s of players are an extreme minority.
No game appeals to all - I am sure there are 1000s of players who hate ArcheAge, just as there are 1000s of players who hate ANY game.
That's why there are many games to pick from - find the one that you like, don't play the ones you don't - simple
The real test will be how people vote with their $$. In a month of two the overwhelming majority will decide the fate of this game. If it is good as is then we will still have packed servers or maybe even more. If they address some of the issues people are talking about perhaps the same.
If nothing changes and there is an overwhelming majority of unhappy customer well then it will be easy to predict what will happen. Dead servers and failed game....
All too often a game is made or broken in the first month based on initial performance. Looking at things like meta critic doesn't paint a very encouraging picture. Personally I have a couple close friends that normally play together. Unfortunately both of them have quit. Comments: quests are boring and plain, no land to be had, running trades are dull. They never even got to the pvp part of the game....

"People that love [MMO HERE] are happily playing it while people who hate it are here whining."
Every game on this site has this particular comment buried somewhere in its threads. Even the games that were closed down. It's a canned answer to reply to people who are making legitimate complaints. Why do I say "legitimate"? Becasue if the complaint was illegitimate, the appropriate response would be to answer the actual complaint with real information.
As it is, I have never seen this theory proven out. It's an assumption that white knighters came up with but I don't think it's true at all, since most of us have been posting on these boards long before ArcheAge was released, and will probably be here posting long after it's slid into some forgotten corner of this site as another niche PVP game.
I cancelled my sub already but I just wanted to share my first week with this game.
My sub expires 10/28
below I will jot down some of the most grevious occurences going on in the game right now.
Hackers are transporting tradepacks from port to port and even bringing the gold trader to there spot effectively
breaking the economy and market.
Patron, archeum, and even founders are still without any land and are up in arms over in the forums...the date to jot down on the calendar is OCT 10-12 which is resub day and its not looking goood.
Users that purchased patron status withthe 10% off the marketplace got jacked as Trion removed it.
Goldseller spam was dealt with for a day but they are back with a vengeance.
One of the most horrible game breaking hacks is when a player SNIPES a demolished home while 50 plus onlookers all try to get the plot...literally you have 50-100 people trying to get the same plot of land that is how bad it is.
3 days ago a HACKER unleasshed 50 level 50 RED NPCs on major cities wiping out players.....check out youtube.
Bots running rampant constantly mining ore and farming lowbie areas day and night.
Certain AH items are being marked up by high yielding hackers with lots of gold...essentially breaking the economy
and the the market.
In the forums many are trying to unload their plots of land by selliing them at more than 300g .....
Auroria will be released in a couple of weeks and everyones bracing for the carnage of the promised land will be relased,
biggest worry is the hackers and their script programs who will take all the land???? take a guess...
I had 5000 labor points used em all up in 2 days and rigth now im out of labor points....if I had 5000 labor points as a patron what chance do F2P players have chance? labor points are used for EVERYTHING even opening up a sack with loot ......but dont worry there are some market items for CREDIT that you can purchase to get some more.
The way I see this game going XL and TRION are trying to squeeze everything out of the community that is playng.....by speaking with some of the beta folks nothing was fixed during beta and most of the hacks that were around then are still around now....this leads me to believe that TRION is going to let the game run as is....in hopes that it generates money....
once the threshold of cost vs. investment vs. earnings go reverse.....the serves will get merged and the inevitable will happen...
I am not trying troll or give the game a bad name....it is what it is...this game should have not been launched in NA/EU but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ talks....and well you know the rest.
my advice......stay away from this game
I'm a F2P player and I have opened over 2000 coin purses... yeps even those that require 5 LP a pop. Trust me, LP is not an issue unless you don't manage it. Even as a F2P player, you can run around with plenty of LP and never even need to buy an LP pot... hell I'm proof of that alone. All this doom and gloom is just fodder. In less than 2 months everyone will be playing WoD, the big rush or thrill of this game is dying down now. People are moving on, just like they do with every other new game once they've reached level cap. The preponderance of the player base isn't concerned about maxing every profession or acquiring BiS gear. They hit level, play a little longer, then move on to the next shiny.
In regards to forum activity vs in-game lovin', the most successful (in terms of subscribers, at least) MMO out there right now is almost never talked about here at all (WoW). I think thus it's more accurate to say "If someone isn't posting at all, they're probably out enjoying their game" rather than "Someone is posting complaints while others are out enjoying their game")
It still beats the next phase, though, I suppose ("Practically no one is posting about the game because no one cares anymore". This seems to be Wildstar's case nowadays...)
Anyways, a lot of Archeage's biggest problems don't actually come to light until the game's older. The growing power difference as more resourceful/efficient/rich/whatever players grow in strength and the increased labor point costs of high end gear don't manifest themselves until the game world ages a bit, for obvious reasons. Lots of people say they enjoy it today just by accepting that they can't compete with cashers, and lots of people say they enjoy it and aren't held back by the labor point system, but how long will that last? How long will it be before the casher's advantage of better gear from increased labor points combined with open world pvp makes them start destroying you? How long will it be before labor points actually DO become an issue because upper end crafting costs so much of it?
What's really disturbing is that as I say this, I feel like I'm typing the typical life cycle of a facebook browser game. They have their own labor point system of sorts in those games and are highly competititve at the upper end too. These games are quite devious in that the early game showers you with junk and their version of "Labor points" but by the end game you're waiting 3 days in between each upgrade and never have enough energy points to do jack squat except maybe play 30 minutes a day with it.
In Archeage's case, you don't have to look at facebook games to see the future, though. The future is right there in other versions of Archeage.

OP, llama llama red pajama save your drama for your mama!
You played the game for a week and you are a savant on the state of the game? I have been playing since pre-launch and haven't had any issues with most of what you are claiming is "destroying" the game.
They have done away with most of the gold spammers, sure there is still some, you know what I do when I see gold spam? I don't read it, problem solved!
Yes there will be a land grab when the new continent releases, which will do 2 things free up space on the old continent and give people a chance to own land that didn't get any on release. This is not a game where everyone is entitled to everything, there is work involved, deal with it.
It costs labor to farm and craft, you have just as much available to you as every other paying member so not sure what the issue is here?
Lastly, resub is not up to 11/16, they extended it a month for the release issues they had. If you were actually playing the game you would know this, but I digress.
Exactly correct. There are tons of people playing the game who have no idea how the BiS gear actually works and are going to be in for a very rude awakening once Dark Runners start popping out of stealth and 1 shot them over and over.
You know, I recall being on these very forums when 1.0 hit Korea and announced for Japan.
Those of us that tried to voice our concerns and issues with the patch, and bring to light what players were experiencing and I, and a few others had posts deleted, received warnings and bans for being overly negative...for pointing out the truth.
Some of you, bitching in this very thread about AA were the ones that shot us down and no doubt reported us.
So, eat it. We are not the ones destroying the community and games, you are.
Enjoy the AA you helped to make sure stayed this way instead of actually listening and helping by having a mostly UNIFIED community so the developers would listen. XL THEMSELVES stated that while there were those in the community worried about the changes they were doing they also heard that many were welcoming the changes and so were keeping them even though it was coming from people that never played the game and understood what the EFF they were saying...
Congrats guys, the very people that made you aware of how great AA was for such a long time and made sure it stayed on everyone's minds to try to get it ported, were turned on and betrayed when they needed you. Well, you got what you asked for, a F2P AA with broken systems that don't work and all the bugs and hacks as well.

As someone who is not really into PVP except for fighting off pirates on the seas, I wonder if I am playing the same game as you guys.

Just to start off I do not agree with DMKano that this game is good or it's business practice acceptable. That being said....trying to get people to admit there are more negative posts then positive makes you look stupid. That's an incredibly childish and pointless argument to make. I would say in my expierence ANY forum for ANY game has more negative posts then positive. That's all I got, that arugment made me want to quit the human race.
I have to agree with you on this one. The negative post argument is not a very strong one. People in general are quick to complain about something and not very quick to complement something. I know I very rarely post positive post for games. All and all it always best to form your own opinion then replying on forum posts to do it for you. Give the game a try it is free to play so no big loss if you don't like it.

Really .....and here I thought folks were happy with playing 5 months in alpha beta ...4 days head start ...4 months of game time ....17500 credits ......and the starter packs
oops I forgot .....being able to buy apex for in game gold means they virtually gave you a life time membership
Il tell you a secret.... people come to mmorpg to complain about games.. rarely you will find someone giving a good rivew because he is busy playing the game.
And simple math... how many are online now playing archeage? more then all of the hate posts together....
Righhtttt let me know what happens a month from now....
If you havent taken a gander over at the official forums you will see that almost all if not more than 70% of the posts
are quit threads or griping threads about the problems..the only people that will be playing the game in 3 months will
be the landbarons and white knights of the game which wont be enough to sustain the SUB money.
Truth is More MMO companies are unleashing these starter packs for more than 100 dollars or more to GUARANTEE them
some sub money for atleast 10 months why do they do it....its like a beta to them like a beta is to us....or a safety net for them
if the game fails they just abandon it fire people and shut more servers but they still have that nest egg from the Starter packs they sold and its becoming more prevelant .....want some more proof that people are leaving the game....
MOST plots that are about to expire are set to expire on Oct 10, 2014 two weeks after the game launched..why??? because those players do not want to continue playing..another indicator that this game is failing....again this game does have some great gameplay but it hampered by the things I mentioned.....and sadly
every day new hacks are being introduced....Ill tell you where these hackers learned thes hacks for archeage...from playing
Crysis on the cryengine if you look back at the failure of Crysis to contain hackers its happening here on Archeage and surprise surprise.....the hacks resemble eacher other a lot....

I'm having a hard time finding anything valid with your arguments when the only fact you use is wrong.... not sure how OCT10,2014 is two weeks after the game launched unless perhaps you weren't playing AA ? In that case my mistake
"yup I am now one of those unhappy clients.. and no e-mail to tell me why? I caught a glimpse of san error message as I was being kicked by a Game Master (gamemaster My arse) of an error # 2003... I've still as yet to receive a n e-mail to my account of why... and I am an archeum patron and no I haven't bought any gold from any peeps just credits from Glyph up to $500 worth since start. (so, I've been had by the game company? great) I am so angry really."
Dont care mutch that he is banned for nothing after paying Trion 150$ for a founderspack.
The fact that he spend 500$ on in game credits.
And then peeps say F2P is bad. rotfl they gotta be roling in money at trion, hell thats why everything goes F2P.
I bet that guy bought the 600$ virtual space ship from the "guy" who made privateer to.
Ah and the state of the game is as it was in Alpha, unfinished, bugged, full of hacks and exploits.
The only thing Trion actualy did was change the droprate of stuff u need to an absolute minimum :P
And ban/ignore/alienate/confuse/harras/rippoff peeps that did notthing and where actualy playing the game.
And there is nothing not even XLgames can do about it. since the game engine that they used is bad.

No, it's not BS. When I log in it says my patron status runs out on 10/27.
However, unlike gw1228, I'll be continuing my sub after 10/27.

@TiamatRoar
"People who tell you youre awesome are useless. No, dangerous.
They are worse than useless because you want to believe them. They will defend you against critiques that are valid. They will seduce you into believing you are done learning, or into thinking that your work is better than it actually is." ~Raph Koster

What spin? No one was forced to pay $150.[mod edit]
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
Three words rarely said together any more.
This cycle happens with every game at launch. Without fail.
He is the only one who says that.
I always assume the folks I block out in general chat in a game are the same folks I block out on the forums
Really .....and here I thought folks were happy with playing 5 months in alpha beta ...4 days head start ...4 months of game time ....17500 credits ......and the starter packs
oops I forgot .....being able to buy apex for in game gold means they virtually gave you a life time membership
Archage.....Hack, Spam, P2WIN
First game I ever played that this happened in was DAOC ....back then though they made you buy two accounts to be competitive
I'm having a hard time finding anything valid with your arguments when the only fact you use is wrong.... not sure how OCT10,2014 is two weeks after the game launched unless perhaps you weren't playing AA ? In that case my mistake
My god i just read this on the official forums.
