Shouldn't be long - really wish they would just go ahead and make the announcement, either buy to play for conoles, which would be wonderful, or just announce that it's going free to play soon already.
Personally - buy to play on consoles would do wonders for this game, but their greed I'm sure will get in the way.

This could end up being very interesting.
Im not gonna say whether they plan to go free or not. Personally I wouldnt mind it either way, but I think if they are going free it will still be many months, most likely over a year. They definitely wont be doing it for the console launch, or anytime soon after. They are going to wait to get as much out of that release as they can, before even considering Free to Play.
And if I were even going to speculate about it, I wouldnt trust a source called "KDrama". I mean seriously, who would want to be connected to "drama" as a reputable media outlet. Just not gonna happen.

Really wish you would just buy the subscription and be done with it. If you cant pay for subs, they are other F2P games to play.
I love how the OP got "shouldn't be long" out of some random ass website posting "there's this rumor going around that it may go FTP, I'm not going to post any real sources though because more than likely I'm making shit up."
No love for ESO here, but even less love for the FTP crowd, mostly because of bush league crap like this.
It aint going free to play. If you followed zenimax you would know that going free to play is the last thing they want to do.
Sorry OP or any other FTP extremist. Games are better when they are paid for.
This is a statement I can get behind.
This could end up being very interesting.
there is many inaccuracies in vcpost article like CHS will open for vr14 no.. its from vr1 etc.. so i think vcpost isnt credible source for this type of informations...
World of Darkness was cancelled a while ago now and it never had any hype. Also 770k active subs? Yeah right.
Since World of Darkness is cancelled WoD stands for WoW: Warlords of Draenor.
I heard they made back their investment with box sales alone, which means the sub count to stay profitable isn't a very tall order, something around 500k or more.
And last count I heard they had well over 1 million subs right now, which means they're doing just fine.
If they can continue to grow the game and expand it into something great, there's no reason this game won't continue to do very well on a subscription model.
WildStar on the other hand.. they've got their work cut out for them.
You think WoW started out with 10 million players? The first 2 years of that game were terrible. A bad leveling experience, broken content, a lack of content, bugs galore, class specs which were completely unplayavble (survival hunter, anyone?) and more. Blizzard evolved it, expanded the service offering to other countries and got some very good expansions out - hence where it is today.
People seem to think if your MMO doesn't rocket to millions of players around the globe in the first 6 months, it's done for. MMO evolution and business growth simply does not happen like this.
From my perspective they have a very good foundation and potential to grow and that's what they have had planned from the beginning. (That much is becoming clear now from the way they're solidly working and patching)
no its not renamed its totaly differend system..
Research is a great thing, stops people looking like fools.
"In other "The Elder Scrolls Online" news, KDrama Stars reports that the game may be going free-to-play, much to the chagrin of "Elder Scrolls" fans (typically, free-to-play is seen as heralding a drop in quality and in increase in in-game purchases). However, this is just a rumor- the game's F2P status has not been officially confirmed by either Bethesda or Zenimax.
KDrama Stars cites the inclusion of a new loyalty program into the game (designed to reward those who have been paying customers for several months) as a potential first step towards free-to-play status."
That site prints some garbage and lies - they've already said a FF7 remake was announced...lies http://www.kdramastars.com/articles/36991/20140913/final-fantasy-vii-remake.htm and also that Persona 5 launch date is march 2015.... also lies to get more site hits. And now another site is quoting them.
yeah it's really sad what people do to get few clicks..

I hope Bethesda sue them for this one!
Think about it, nobody wants to die, there's rules to this game son, I'm justified.
It's really important to read an article before creating a misleading thread to further your own agenda.

I thought I'd highlight that part to help you out.
Ah yes, this old chestnut.
The fact is ANY sub-based MMO released nowadays, especially one with such a big budget, has a Free-2-Play plan, but that doesn't mean it will ever be put to use. It's a contingency, and would have been included in their business plan as such when they presented to investors. I guarantee ZOS knows exactly how they would go F2P and what it would entail, they just won't until the subscription system becomes unreliable for staying in the black.
Well I heard the game would have 20M subs by Christmas so why would it go f2p?
All the (source) article picked up on was the introduction of a loyalty scheme and wondered whether that was a precursor to the game going f2p (I would prefer the term "non-subscription").
We don't know what sub retention has been like - except on Steam which seems to be testing 10% of the (absolutely abysmal) "high".
We don't know how many copies the game sold outside of Steam. There is the odd guesstimate floating around from e.g. vgchartz which I believe was the source of the 770k but Zenimax has said nothing.
And to reiterate the publisher probably gets maybe 70% of the online cost and maybe 30% of the retail box price. After taxes, transaction charges (e.g. visa), download etc. costs for online and - may come as a shock to some - sellers like Amazon keep some of the purchase price.
If sales have been poor then Zenimax will be rethinking there strategy. TESO was - clearly - not a cheap game to produce.
Skyrim sold a lot of copies on consoles. That will be the focus. With the bugs fixed and an "expansion" thrown in - Dark brotherhood say - then a re-launch should be possible. (Without an expansion columnists wouldn't really have anything new to write about).
The console decision (assuming it happens) will be the key. Now how mmorpg will justify the value score they gave the game if it keeps the box price, has a sub, has a console sub and charges for expansions as well .....
