You love to twist things around. What I said you said as fact was your rebuttal in subsequent posts.......The one where you said "FACT" and presented an observation. I'm talking about the one where you said "They aren't CIG" That's a factual statement. Man, you really do need to learn what Facts are.
>>>> Fact: I now checked twice in Jita today (last time= 2 min ago). No
spamming for Star Citizen in Jita local. Feel free to check yourself. >>>>
THIS is what I posted as "Fact". And THIS is something that was verifyable as a fact at the time of writing for anyone logging into EVE Online in the well known trade hub Jita.
"A fact is something that has really occurred or is actually the case. The usual test for a statement of fact is verifiability.."
Have fun
Your statement still isn't a fact since you have no proof (or haven't shown any proof) that you actually logged into the game and no one was actively posting a link to the star citizen website.
The definition you posted damns you since I doubt anyone here can verify you did what you said you did.
Anyone can create an account in EVE (takes about 5 min and is free for the first 30 days). Anyone can fly to Jita from a starter system ... Takes another 5 min. Its policed high security space, so - by EVE standards - comparatively safe. Anyone can listen in to Jita Local chat.
So .... Anyone was able to verify if (s)he cared enough to verify.

I'm well aware of how to log into EVE and what Jita is but you avoided what I said.
You said it was a fact that you logged in and saw no one posting and then posted a link to Wikipedia's definition of fact that says it needs to be verifiable.
I then said that there is no proof that you did what you said you did or that no one was spamming a link while you were there, therefore what you said isn't a fact.
I can say that I logged into EVE and flew to Jita and saw 2 people spamming star citizen links.
I can say that I logged into EVE and flew to Jita and saw 2 people spamming star citizen links.
And I can then log into EVE with one of my trade alts and verify if you speak the truth. That is called fact checking.
It IS possible that someone tries to do some SC recruiting in EVE. It would not surprise me.
However, on the two occasions i logged in and checked, no one was doing it. While i was posting on mmorpg.com I was still logged into EVE ....and at the time of writing no one was spamming for SC (and i invited people to check for themselves).

Which brings us back to the original point yet again that it isn't fact if it can't be verified.
You very well can log in and check with a trade alt if I happen to tell you exactly when I log in to check and if you stay logged in as long as I am logged in (or longer) but your original statement is not a fact at all.
This would have been over a few posts ago if you just admitted you were caught talking out of your ass but its business as usual I see.

@GeezerGamer had a point and i clarified my old post to more clearly mark it as my personal opinion, based on experience.
You - @Kefo - do not. What i posted as fact (using the word "Fact") in a post in this thread was not an opinion but a verifyable fact. I posted a time and invited everyone to check Jita local for any signs of Star Citizen recruitment SPAM. If you or someone else did not bother to verify it .... tough luck.
It IS possible that someone tries to do some SC recruiting in EVE, even in Jita local. But at the time I mentioned no one was doing it (as you would have seen if you had bothered to check).

Well then I logged in 2 minutes after you made your original post (since I can't boot up the game instantly) and someone was posting links. Guess your claim of fact was just debunked

Nope.
If you are not lying through your teeth - and lets assume you do not - i believe you when you say you saw someone spamming a recruitment ad for Star Citizen in Jita local sometime after i checked (and after i logged out).
Now ... let us also assume i was still logged in 30 min after i wrote my post and checked Jita local constantly at that time .......... let us assume then that I would now have a clear PERSONAL picture of your credibility.

Well now who's lying? The person who is always posting about the game in a good light or someone who is posting in a not so nice light?
Have any proof of you flying around Jita for the entire length of time you were online showing no sc links?
Theres a dude spamming in jita right now. Go do some fact checking.
Winning a discussion is not what it's about. If you could pass insight to someone or learn something from it in return - noone can really loose, can they?

Thank you.
I am at work right now but will check once i am back at home.
Did you remember the name of the pilot ? And did he use his own SC referral code in his ad spam ? With the name I can put him on my watch list and see when he comes online again.
Sorry sitting in the station then. Still avoiding the points that matter though
I'm sitting back watching this thread now.
For him to make the statement "They aren't CIG" and then come back afterwards and try to say he didn't state it as a fact when the above quote is by definition a factual statement. As a fact it may or may not be accurate, but the statement is factual. He didn't say....."I don't think they are CIG" or "They are probably players trying to make a few bucks" There is a difference.
Anyway.......This whole proving who is spamming is supposed to accomplish what exactly? If anything, this "After the fact" scrambling to prove something" only shows more evidence that his earlier facts weren't really facts.....at least at the time he spoke them. That is...unless, he had another source...But we won't go there.
But really, he 1st verifies it's happening......thus the "They aren't CIG" statement. Then he comes back later and tries to present a "Fact" that it wasn't happening at all.
WTF???????
This shit is ALL over the place. He can't even stay on a single point.
BUT.......... to his credit, he did admit to having misspoke.......so I am not sure why this continues.
I actually find it somewhat amusing that after all the Escapist hubbub of weeks past that we're now telling SC fans that they require verifiable proof or something didn't happen. I actually lol'd a little inside.
what was the point of arguing whether someone was spamming Jita and how does it relate to the subject of the thread? Wouldn't a screenshot pretty much settle the discussion?
I'd say it is a pretty safe bet that someone, in a space game, might be interested in another space game. Add to that the potential for being rewarded for doing some marketing and sure, almost guaranteed that, at various times throughout the day, someone in Jita is saying something about SC. More importantly, has anyone spammed Barren's chat about SC yet?

I'm keeping it going because I like seeing what he comes up with as he tries to dig himself out of a hole or how to try and weasel away from answering the actual question.
We've done this song and dance in the past and I know it makes me laugh some of the things he comes up with.

Here's the other side of his coin I was waiting to bring up. He's implying they are EVE players. And I believe they are. .I do really. But he went on to indicate their motivation. That's where I question him. He's indicating they are selling to make a few extra bucks on the SC ship after-market. But I'll throw it out there, asking what makes you so sure they aren't EVE players trying to bail out of what might become a bad investment while they still can?

Hey if @GeezerGamer is happy with your clarification then that's fine with me.
Im personally calling you out that what you said isn't a fact based on the definition you posted. Like I said earlier if you just admitted you had no way to prove it I would have moved on but now it's just funny watching you trying to deflect away from answering.

I imagine if it did happen in barrens chat it would involve something about your mother and/or how you should die horribly noob. But I haven't played wow in years so maybe the average barrens chatter no longer swears and acts like a moron? Lol

Alas, given the rapid fire amount of trade SPAM in Jita a screenshot would mean nothing if you want to show that you did NOT see someone spamming an ad. You would need hundreds of screenshots with overlapping timestamps or a video capture - the later being brain numbing boring. A screenshot would be helpful if you want to show that someone DID spam a Star Citizen ad into Jita local.
The crazy thing is - NONE of the posters here denies that there could be SC ads at some point in EVE Online (in Jita local chat, the location of the trade hub). Especially not me. I DID check at two different times and did not see any SC ads during the time i was online in EVE. During other times it may well be that someone is spamming ads .... knowing my fellow EVE players, especially those that do metagaming across several games, this would be pretty typical behaviour.
From my experience EVE players talk about WoW in EVE local chat (and get flamed for it ;-) ... very rarely do they talk about SC in local.

It's not that I'm happy with it....I just know it's a waste of time trying continue.
You ask about point "A". Next thing you know, you are arguing with him over whether or not Point "D" is a fact and Point "C" isn't verifiable. Skipping completely over point "B".
"But, what about point "A"?"
"I already proved point "D"! What are you talking about?"

When last I played, it was also required that a chuck norris reference of some sort be included.
Joking aside, I was just curious why so much was being invested in this tangent and I believe you answered in other responses.
From my view, this seems like nitpicking on unimportant semantics and a screenshot would pretty much demonstrate that; yes, someone in Jita said 'x'. This would help us bystanders assign the relevant points to the proper team. Then we can move on to debating trivial semantics and, hopefully, arrive at consequential semantics sometime before release (trying to give a reasonably large window here).

Oh I fully admit to nitpicking and like @GeezerGamer above said it ends up you arguing about something that has nothing to do with your original point. At this point I know I will never get a straight up answer so I just keep it going for my humour factor. It's a slow morning so sue me lol.
To be honest your best bet is to not bother keeping score and just sitting back and laughing at all of us as this all unfolds
