In my opinion, the game is a lot more smooth than it was in May. A lot.
It is getting better with every (monthly) update. With the Imperial city, justice system, spell crafting, and champion system on there way into the game, PVE and PVP users alike should find some joy.
I guess what im getting at is that zenimax deserves a 2nd shot. Launch was horrid, but they managed to turn the game around (mostly, so far) and make it awesome.
If you quit ESO early on, i recommend you look into giving it another try. Its only been 6 months, im excited to see the progress of the game in a year from now.
Care to agree or maybe disagree?
I'm going to give it a second try when they revamp the way VR ranks work. Not much point in returning to the same VR grind I despised in the first place. I will admit if they can deliver on what they are promising the game looks like it could be worth a second try. However so far most of these things are just talk. I am waiting for patch notes with them implemented before I go back.
So from what the original poster said its the same game i left except for some added armor colors. Every thing that was identified as up coming has been up coming for months. Maybe in a year it will be good to look at it again. But if the new camelot comes out first i might never see it.
It still hasn't solved it's biggest problem, and the reason that I and many others quit and want nothing to do with it.
It's still a single player game with lousy group incentives, and no community.
I am sorry but you are wrong. Many people do not quit MMOS because it lacks 'more' group content. Look at the popularity of WOW, GW2 and SWTOR.
Not that these MMOS don't have group content but where it belongs. In end game just like ESO.
Wow. Your are so wrong in every way imaginable with that statement. Please don't ever share your way of thinking with any developers so that the genre as a whole can move forward, instead of into a pit where you seem to want it to go.
I strongly considered play ESO a week ago, especially when I found out I could play it for a month for only $12. But then I found out I'd have to drop no less than another $20 just to play as both my favorite race and the best race in the game for playing a tank type class. (Imperial.)
At that point I decided not to play it, at least not till it's free to play, or until they get rid of the paywall for the good race. No real loss either way, other better games I can play no doubt while I wait.
To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.

Nice overreaction there.
Considering the popularity of MMOS i gave as an example i am sorry but you are wrong and in minority. So take your own advice and please stop sharing your way of thinking with game devs. They are doing just fine.
I would like to add another example FFXIV. Doing great and has a single player leveling curve with plenty of grouping at end game content. So that i 5 examples i gave..and you gave what? nada.
I only made it to level 11 before the endless NPC chore running got to me. I'm guessing that the game is still heavily quest based with no viable alternatives for progression? I'll come back with a big overhaul of the game making it more of a risk vs reward open world with consequenses for your actions. Something more than just no risk quest after quest after quest.
Are all open dungeons still based on ~10 templates?
Do people still make arrangements for emperor status?
Is first-person mode still an afterthought?
Is the running animation as if you have a carrot stuck up your butt?
Does the armor still looks painted on?
Can you play with your low/high level friends and still feel like progressing?
Is the game launcher still a buggy mess that sometimes doesn't even download the game/update properly>
Is the customer support taking 12+ hours to respond?
How about chat bubbles?
and with all this problems ...
Does it still have a subscription on top of subpar MMO experience?
Then no, no second chances. They've learned nothing. A second chance is given to a person who "gets it". As for the systems the OP listed, yeah ... maybe you will get one of them until next christmas. That's about the time you and the rest of subscribers weight 180$ less
There is nothing I can think of that they could do that would bring me back.
I dislike the combat - Huge issue
I dislike the inventory - another Huge issue
I dislike the phasing - you get it
I dislike the quests - some of them were interesting, most are forgettable filler with forgettable NPCs. The story just did not draw me in at all.
The PVP was fun, until the combat got in the way. Not being able to consistently switch weapons while fighting was a deal breaker.
I really wish they would have just made an awesome coop game. Maybe since they abandoned the open-world sandbox genre, someone will fulfill my wish and make a sci-fi Skyrim to fill the void created when they decided to go theme park mmo with the elder scrolls franchise.
I agree, if the devs can fight to avoid the blizzard effect (generalise to attempt to appeal to every man and his dog). Then this game is going to be around for the next decade IMO.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
The game rocks and the major reason so many people quit was the bots and cheating. Those are gone and the game rocks now. No matter what area I go to there are people all over the place. To those that think this game will go F2P, keep on waiting it isn't going to happen.
Best Graphics, Best Combat, Best World, Best Character Customization, Best NPC Voice's, Best Dungeons and Best Questing
Entirely subjective. IMO Darkfall has easily the best world and combat.
A fail mmo like Darkfall? The world is generic just like the combat. Darkfalls combat looks just like somebody blind folded trying to hit a pinata. Bought the game when it had the 2 month promotion awhile back and I think I only lasted about an 1 hour before I uninstalled.
To those who say forced grouping would be better. A lot of people don't like forced anything. They like options. Solo when you want, group when you want, pvp when you want. Those are the most successful models out there now. Forcing players to play only one way, has been tried in the past and is still around but not as the most generally popular MMO's.
The best answer to forced grouping (without actually forcing players to group) I can think of is simply joining an active guild. They always organize groups for special or regular quest content, days in advance at times. And if you need a group for something guilds I've been in will always have helpful mates who will take the time to help you out.
But if you're talking about ESO as long as they have phasing issues forced grouping would simply cause more problems as everyone has to be at the exact same point in the quest.

When there are free browser games that have better gameplay than a purchase + subscription game, there is a problem.
I'm not giving these ***holes another dime, that's for sure.
For me ESO is one of the 3 best themeparks in the market right now. Anyways, I really want to hear about those amazing free browser games. Thanks.
I never said they were amazing; I said they were better.
As for best themepark, ESO may very well be 3rd, but DDO and TSW are so much better that I refuse to put them on the same list with this pile of garbage.

Big open seamless. You must have been playing a different game bud. You actually have to aim in Darkfall, unlike this fireball's curving around corners crap in ESO. You clearly need your hand held a bit more than what DF would ever do. What are you doing on these forums? I'm sure there is an NPC in ESO that has some chores for you to do.

I left because of the bugs that were slowly being addressed and not wanting to redo content because I reached V1. I still see forum posts about the bugs and new people who can't even log into the game because of launcher errors.
I also remember SWTOR players saying the same thing about F2P.
So unless you're a major CEO in Zeni or clairvoyant you just can't know for sure.

Big open seamless world thats ugly, dead and generic like I said. Aiming is good if the combat is good to support it which is not the case in Darkfall. Darkfall for the 2nd time is a game that nobody plays and most mmo players have not even heard of. Not gonna even talk about the game anymore because its not even in the same class as a game like ESO so why should I. We need real mmos.
Watching the bitter crowd vent here is, well, sort of amusing. A lot of people really wanted this game to fail. They talked it down among themselves, convinced each other that it was doomed...
And it's still here, still doing fine, and doing all of this even though they trash-talked it to kingdom come. And it sticks in their craw.

Why the hell are you even comparing Darkfall with ESO? games like Darkfall are low quality budget MMOS made to appease a tiny minority. Moreover it is a sandbox game.

Good.
Well, I think for most of those folks they believe that it did fail, (by whatever criteria they are using to measure success) so they aren't really unhappy, they are gloating.

OP
I left a month ago .I had played in beta and up until a month ago.
I got tired of waiting(and paying) for the game to significantly improve
AvA was STILL unstable when I left.
The VR grind......still there.

When they remove VR entirely, I will come back and give it a try again.
Oh, and maybe they could try adding an exit survey to the game as that may help them with sub retention. Novel idea I know.
