That is plenty enough to pay for all operating cost of 260 employees in 4 studios worldwide (Rule of thumb from internet: overall cost 100 k$ per employee per month in a small game company).
Have fun
Maybe I read that wrong but 100k per employee per month? That would put it at 26 million per month which doesn't make sense. Did you mean 10k?

Sorry .. my mistake. Of course that should mean per year. Post will be corrected.

Thanks for the correction now I'm not wondering if I have gone crazier then normal.
However I will need to pick on the math a little (not yours but the internets lol)
100,000 a year per employee is the extreme low end if guesses on average salaries are right or not. 70,000 per year per employee as an average with around 44% labour works out to a little over 100,000 per year. However, it's generally agreed upon that 50-150% is normal.
Since we averaged the wages it's only fair to average the labour burden to 100%. This would put it at 140,000 per employee per year which works out to a little over 3 million a month for all 260 employees.
Thats not not half bad considering what they typically take in a month in pledges but that's only paying their wages. How much is CIG paying per month for all its studios in overhead costs? That would include rent, legal fees, electricity, Internet, etc. Add on top of that the contractors they have working for them.
If we knew overhead costs and contractor fees we would have a much clearer picture of what they are actually spending per month. Not that it's clear right now since we are guessing on wages but it's a start
They had one great month thanks to ship sales and their big presentation but the four months before that averaged $1.5M per month, september was around $1.5M. Last week was around $450k, for the current week the daily spending has dropped from $40k to $30k, with a very obvious trend line showing a drop. That's a strong indication that spending is slowing down after the presentation.
To get the average of $2.5M per month they will continue to rely on new ships being sold to the whales.
See post above:
>>>For those interested in more detailed data, I recommend "SC Pledgewatch"
A VERY in depth analysis of the SC crowdfunding campaign.>>>
The 3 year average is 2,6 M$.
Maybe there is a correlation as CIG currently has 260 employees. As a rule of thumb you often hear a cost of 100 k$ per (average) employee per year for a small gaming company.
November and December are coming, which traditionally are good months for this crowdfunding campaign.
Have fun
The document is a summary of events and not an analysis of the data. June, july and september were poor months of funding, august was good because of gamescom. October was excellent because of citizencon.
June. $1.06M July. $0.92M August. $2.78M ($1.5M for the week at gamescom) September. $1.39M October. $4.25M ($3M for the 10 days of citizencon) 10.5M out of which 4.5M is due to events.
If we take an average and exclude numbers for gamescom and citizencon you get the following numbers. June: $35k per day July: $30k per day August (excluded gamescom week): $53k September: $45k October (excluded citizen con 10 days): $62k Last 10 days average: $35k
This means that for the last 5 months almost half their sales coincided with showing their game at big events.
After going through the data for november and december 2014 I noticed the following:
At pax australia there was an fps reveal that coincided with a sale, $2M in 10 days
Anniversary sale, $4M in 10 days
Arena commander release, $1.5M in a week
It will be interesting to see if the whales will be doing as much spending for this years anniversary sale.
Iselin: And the next person who says "but it's a business, they need to make money" can just go fuck yourself.
Just reading about this guy who spent around $30000.00 on SC. He worked side jobs to pay for what he bought, so it's not even like he was a millionaire and that was just pocket change for him. Life is indeed interesting.

Star Citizen Backers have passed the 95 million dollar mark (95,025,551 $)
Number of "Star Citizens" is currently at 1,047,017
(up from 1,037,320 ....+ 9,697 since the 94 million mark)
Number of "UEE Fleet" : 795,182
(up from 781,842 ....+ 13,340 since the 94 million mark)
Noteworthy is the introduction of the Alpha 2.0 mini-PU build (Crusader Map), the Crucible repair ship, the repair mechanistics and a lot of news on Mark Hamill.
It is also interesting to see that non-paying "Citizens" seem to convert into paying "backers" to a larger degree than in previous months.

795.182 sold Ships - The UEE Fleet number is a sold ship counter not "Accounts that have pledged" - Disco Lando confirmed this on Citizencon. (he said that they sold about 780.000 Ships) there are 1.037.320 Forum Accounts and about 430.000 Accounts that have pledged.
When you have cake, it is not the cake that creates the most magnificent of experiences, but it is the emotions attached to it. The cake is a lie.

The number of 430.000 was a personal communication to you by Disco Lando during CitizenCon ? Or is there a source for that number ? If the later, please link.
I only weigh in the money versus what they have to show us and at least from where i sit, they don't match.
I have seen 1/2/3 man teams on this very site advertising their product/game with VERY little money and have more to show than this game does and at least to me,there is something definitely wrong with that.
Then of course there is the argument that games like to keep trade secrets or whatever, but you know what those low budget games i just mentioned are willing to show more and they are not even crowd funded yet. This game is using gamer's money,so you should have nothing to hide,i truly believe as many do that they simply do not have much to show, mismanagement comes to mind.
Then due to recent management changes and restructuring,i would say Mismanagement is 100% an accurate statement. Is it on the right track now,i really don't know, again they are not showing us much to think otherwise.I just watched a 3 hour video and all they showed us was about the equivalent of a 3 man team's 1-2 months work.I assume they wasted a LOT of time and money on that video/movie shoot that will amount to very little game play.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Things can definitely be done on the cheap. Actually it's easier than ever to do things cheaply and easily. I was able to have an MMO where I was running around a procedurally-generated environment killing the same 2 monsters indefinitely, within a day. That's just me and my son (but he's about as helpful as a fart in a wind storm at this point).
All of that, world server, game world, assets, spawn manager, world generator, etc. cost me a whopping $70!!! So if you're willing to make concessions, it can be done. However, any time you start actually creating your own art it can go from cheap to costly quickly. As the Yogcast people. A single character model, done from the ground-up, in high detail could cost you as much as $30k in labour to do. PER CHARACTER!!! Like eff me!

Quoting the $30k guy: People think that this is a scam, all those haters. There’s that—I’m not
even going to mention his name—the one guy, I know you know who it is,
who keeps ragging on it.
Sounds like the person he is referring to is now as terrifying as Lord Voldemort to some gamers.
Star Citizen Backers have passed the 99 million dollar mark (99,010,914 $)
[...]
The 2nd time, after the counter bugged 2 days ago (and showed a million dollar extra). Strange bug, strange strange ... now all the guys who bought ships to be the 100mil dollar Ticket have to buy more ships.
