I can only offer a conservative guestimate ... 211 million divided by (guessed) 800.000 paying backers would be around 264 $ on average.
So i would venture a guess that YES, the average is over 100 $.
Have fun
LMAO not surprised you dont know how math works. Or at least how its spun.
If a million people donates money to something and 999,999 of them donate a dollar and one guys donates 100 million they raised 100,999,999 for a million people. THAT is an 'over 100' average too....
My mathematical education stopped at integro-differential equations, Bessel functions and Hilbert spaces. I can always learn more, so please be my teacher.

I think Erillion is actually good at spinning math to suit his own purposes. Also there's nothing wrong with his calculation.
But BeansnBread likely meant the average over all registered accounts on Star Citizen website, not just the paying ones. That average isn't quite $100 yet.

It would not make sense to make an average over all registered accounts on the Star Citizen website (aka "Star Citizens") as we know that not all of them are paying backers.
2199397 Star Citizens , 211.173.316 $ --> in theory that would be 96 $
To name one of the reasons ... many fans of the original Wing Commander games are now in their forties, have decent salaries, can afford participation in crowdfunding projects, want to see a game in the tradition of their old favorites.
There have been quite a few fantasy MMORPGs in the last decades, but not many space related ones.
