I’m surprised I was able to load that page without bumping into CR’s ego although the room did smelly terribly of bullshit
All the letter makes me do is wonder where 200 million dollars disappeared too.
If what they have produced so far is what 200 million gets you then this project will cost 500 million to get to the "dream".
Well we have no idea how much has been spent - not all of it for sure. Wages alone for 3-500 people though is going to burn through $30-$50M a year. And as the game has been in development for - 15 years is it now? - thats over $500M right there!
So clearly the money has been spent on developing a time machine enabling them to fund the project from the future. Way to go!

Still heavily in development, which means this tech demo does not respect my time. From one momemt to the next you can lose most or all of your alpha credits because trading and so many other things still don't work properly. I certainly will take a step back again from SC once the EXPO is over.
This is either shaping up to be the greatest game of all time, or the greatest gaming disaster of all time....
No really. Being great game is unlikely because greatness can't really be made with just money, but also being a great disaster is unlikely because once you got enough money you can make something passable simply by throwing more money at the problem.
At this point a mediocre game is most likely result.

Throwing more money at a problem doesn’t mean it will get fixed. Kinda like how 9 women can’t make a baby in a month

Star Citizen already has a game engine that works somewhat. At this point they can't fail to expand it as long as they keep throwing more money and development time into it.
It may turn out to be a good game, or it may turn out to be a bad game, but at some point throwing money and time is a sure-fire solution for building more stuff.

Sure if they want to take all the time in the world and have people keep throwing money at them then yeah they can probably rebuild the engine to be what it needs to be, hire talent that they need, fix all the broken shit, catch up on the technical debt they’ve built up, etc.
Problem is they are either going to run out of money because people will get tired of waiting or they will run out of time because someone will come along and do it better then them and SC will be the second rate game that never fully released
