AA is not the game for me I do not play it, hated the beta and uninstalled.
But this explains something to me. Someone will say how they like or love Trove and there is always a reply, "That's a damn TRION game! I do not care how good or bad it is. I will never touch a TRION game after this! AA launch was horrible."
Starting to worry about gamers intelligence in the PC community. The complainers are starting to sound like CoD X-box players. You do know the different between a publisher and a developer right complainers? Certainly Trion is at fault for publishing the game, especially one by XL. Which should have honestly been a Perfect World game.
But who knows what XL told them? Trion made a bad choice in a business partner but did not make the game.
Lets say you buy a brand new TV from the store. The TV has issues. The TV was made by a different company. Sure the store sells the TVs. But the company who made the TV, produced the TV with the problems. So your issue needs to be with the TV maker. You shouldn't get mad at the store itself. Sure the store offered it, but nobody made you pick that TV out from all the other options that were better.
So Trion did not make the game! As in they did not develop the game! I don't play any other Trion games except Trove, but you can clearly tell the games they developed from AA which they published.
XL games are one of the worst gaming developers there is, right up there with Perfect World. Why are gamers surprised AA sucks and or has it problems? Why are people so shocked a game built from the ground up for a Asian market online ecosystem, is a cash grab?
Reminds me of my friend who plays Neverwinter and complains about the cash shop constantly. How is she surprised? It is Perfect World Entertainment!
Never heard the term "sleep with dogs you get fleas" huh?
If Trion were so damn good they would not have taken on projects as publishers that killed their reputations. But then again the only reputation they had was from Rfit and even that was mixed. But they had Defiance (publisher) utter failure despite the concept. AA well that one is obvious. I think people also forgot about End of Nations. Trion was developing and publishing that one. Basically cancelled it and replaced it with Trove, and no offense to you a fan but seriously? Its like we time travelled back to 1981 and guys made Cubeworld/Minecraft hybrid.
But I dont know if its all Trions fault. But they didn bring Hartsman back who was fully against F2P and very vocal about it. So maybe he is purposely ruining every game Trion has control over and makes to sour people on the free to lay model. Best explanation I can come up with for why their games are so horribly mismanaged.
Honestly, something like this is good to be sold. Personally, I wouldn't buy it, but as said before, others would. Its the responsibility of the consumer to know what they are investing before investing. If people feel cheated, that's their own fault, not Trion's. Its like saying its the fast food company's fault for making people obese when in actuality its the people since they are the ones producing the money and buying the quantities they want.
Five bucks for a skin that isnt permanent. Meaning you can apply it and you can take it off but if you take it off it disappears.
And there are actually people defending this on the official forums.
trion sure has alot of suckers on the line thats for sure.
But anyone with a brain knew they were cash grabbing but this one really takes the cake.
Beauty is they offer two, which means most people are going to want to check them both out. So theyre going to lose one or the other depending on the order they apply them in.
Pretty sure I have seen limited time skins in other ftp games as well.
yeah maybe complete garbage ones that use that shit as their only source of income.
Aion uses limited time skins though you can take it off within the set time period.
My issue is not with the limited skins but, if what you say is true, having it vanish if you want to change it.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

horrible analogy.
a FIVE DOLLAR skin shouldnt be temporary, end of story. I didnt spend real cash on it obviously I used credits from APEX but its the principle. It cost someone somewhere 5 bucks for me to buy that skin. But its like everything else in the cash shop horribly over priced for what you get. 5 bucks is a lot for any skin but one that disappears if you remove it is ridiculous. Not too hard to have the items simply separate when you revert it back.
Like I said if I had known it was temporary I never ever would have bought it. Which is also the point because no where in the game or the official patch notes does it mention it is temporary. it does, in some random article mention it as an aside. So just more pl;ausile deniability and sneaky tactics by Trion to make it seem like they do something when they really dont.
The relationship between Trion and XL is similar to a car dealership. The manufacturer made the car, but the buyer has to deal with the dealership. If the dealership is really good, with excellent service, timely maintenance, etc, then it can make up for a car that came from the factory with problems.
But if the dealership doesn't provide good service, and seems to want only to nickel-and-dime the customers, then both the manufacturer and the dealership will get a black eye.

Never said Trion was, "So good". In my opinion only Trove is, and they have a fair cash shop to boot.
The whole point of my post is there is a big difference between publishing and developing.
Why would I get offended by your opinion of Trove? You could say Trove is so bad that it is like being violated by a bunch of drunk and hyper silverback gorillas and I could care less. I like the game, could care less.
Don't read so much into free to play, they did it as a business decision to make money.
Also, again. As you said, "Don't know if it's all Trion's fault?" that goes back to the publisher and developer difference.
If two different companies are involved, it can't be, "All Trion's fault".
I also said I play no other Trion games, other than Trove.
I mean, I wouldn't buy it. I think it's an awful deal and not the best direction for a cash shop. But I would prefer they sell things like this as opposed something that affects game play.
I don't know man. To me, it just looks like you're seeking arguments and internet battle. We all already know the direction this game's monetization model. Raging all over the internet and calling everyone who disagrees or simply does not care a White Knight is kind of silly.
People get way too invested in expressing the extent of their outrage.

While I would never pay for a limited time skin, I have no problem with those who do or the company that sells them. If someone finds value in it and they buy it, more power to them they are helping the game stay in business.
People will complain about everything and anything and try to get people to back them up, then saying F this I am going back to my next gated game complain there for few months then move on. Is not only Ftp people complain on, there was tons raging over Eso and wildstar about many things.
Thinking coming here saying tons of things about trion/xlgame thinking people not touch the game, EA one the company we didn't learn from how much stuff they put down are throat and still making big buck off of people.
I see no problem with this at all - anyone who is willing to give money to Trion deserves what they get... the last money this company will ever see from me was about 1.5 years ago when Rift went F2P. It took all of maybe 60 days for the game and company to start circling the drain.
those people actually like to be payed for their work too (and yes, even publishers do like to be payed).
so, here is the hint for any of you having probs with paying:
play games where you don't need to pay. or don't buy stuff.
seriously, this "omg, they want money" trend is getting out of hand, you guys need to get back to reality.
There are games with business models where the devs are encouraged to make as good a game as possible to get more customers to get more profits.
And then there are games with business models where the devs are encouraged to find ways to get the customers to spend as much as possible, regardless of whether or not it's good for the game (and yes, what's good for profits and what's good for the game need not be the same thing). Archeage, with its model ticking off most of the points in R2Games' presentation about such games with such models, is one of them (for the most part).
If whales would stop supporting the latter, then maybe we wouldn't have to deal with the latter. However, no matter how many non-whales vote with their wallets, it only takes a few whales to support the latter (and more importantly, make it more profitable than alternative business models) and keep it going. So there's nothing you can do to buck that business trend (besides somehow convince the whales to stop, which probably isn't going to happen). The most you can do is either suck it up or just not play those games in the first place. I suggest the latter.
There are games with business models where the devs are encouraged to make as good a game as possible to get more customers to get more profits.
Examples?
Because I would say that "most" games that have been made with sub model were "those types of games".
Game devs didn't make a good game then they lose subs.
So what happened? F2P.
It's either that the developers just "sat on their laurels" and came out with new content when it was finished (yet could have come out sooner) or it really is difficult to come out with new content, test it, etc on a rigorous schedule and just wasn't possible.
And since these games cost a LOT of money to make and to maintain, develop, etc, these companies tend to lay people off and let a smaller group do the work of many. Turbine seems to be one of these.
I'm all for sub only games. But development costs more, developers are making do with less and companies and investors want their money.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

Originally posted by Zarf42 Really not surprising. As people love to tell us, 80% of the money taken in is from whales. So $5 to some guy willing to spend thousands on a game is nothing, and Trion knows people are going to waste money, so why not keep gouging them?
Who coded the skin into the game? XL
Who came up with temp skin concept in ArcheAge? XL
Which ArcheAge locale had temp skins first? Korea
Who put temp skins on the cash shop first? XL did in Korea
Who gets the blame for temp skins in ArcheAge? Trion
Blame Trion for every feature in ArcheAge that they had nothing to do with in the first place - working as intended
The day when folks understand the difference between a publisher and developer - never gonna happen
Just the fact that I HAVE to understand this difference, in the 1st place, before even playing a game, is in itself, a HUGE red flag.
Your statement would be meaningless if:
1. The relationship between XL and Trion were seamless
2. There weren't major issues that needed to be identified as a coding issue or a business model issue.
If the game is done right, there'd never be a need to distinguish between the 2
but trion failed miserable to provide decent servers and support , and manage to ban bots/exploiters all this stuffs make game broken specify in economy , maybe guys dont know but economy its pillar in sandbox game
but awalys archeage never is sandbox max hybrid with 80% themepark and 20% sandbox like most game in market

What he is saying is that it doesn't matter who coded the game, Trion is the company to offer it to Western Customers who have no connection or recourse to XL-Games. Any and all communication is with Trion. How Trion handles things with XLGames behind the scene, is 100% Trion's responsibility and should NEVER impact Trion's customers. The fact that it does just shows that Trion was not up to the task and/or should have recognized a bad arrangement before committing to provide something they were not able to provide regardless of the reasons why.
I don't have any problem with temporary skins. I wouldn't buy one, but other might want one. Some people get bored by having the same look all the time anyways, so the skin being temporary is no problem anyways.
As long as they do not have both a overall time limit and vanish the moment you take it off, no matter how much time is left, i'm fine with both, too. Having a timer allows me to change it in between, having it until you take it off means i can keep it more or less permanent - until i decide i want another one.
Having both or even more restrictions placed on it would be stupid too. And of course the price has to be okay. But the item itself, even when it's only temporary, is one of the best options for a cash shop.
And there is not even a need to reduce the available free skins. Vindictus has more different armor skins across all levels than most games. And yet they produce more and more armor skins (and underwear, which you can hide completely with a dozen pure gold armors).
I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore
Bottom line is, Trion signed a contract, and should have done a little research, before taking on this mess. They didn t , and if they did they re research team sucks. They deserve everything they get from this. I actually never thought I would uninstall Rift from my HD, well now I have. It felt good actually. The game everyone used to jump all over, SWTOR, is back on my HD and deserves to be.

Is true that 100% Trion's responsility for the western custormes, but if we keep blaming just trion only, then XLgame will just use other company to take there blame for many there bad problem with the game, is like gpotato with allods, people blame gpotato when allods was doing most the stuff in the back end, letting gpotato get all there blame with problem with there game, not saying gpotato was good company was pretty bad now webzen owns it, but now that mail.ru/my.com took over as it been getting worst and worst, they even scared put allods part there mmo next to skyforge on there site.
And I don't think people should take off the heat off of trion, or xlgame should be in the mix with them not only trion only.

They coded the game. The code is terrible and full of holes which make it easy to hack. If you don't get that, you should read a bit more.
I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high
And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll
Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde
And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore
