In comparison, the EQ2 I knew in early January was a tepid corpse.Any thoughts?

To be honest, yes I wasn't really impressed with EQ2 back when I played it in November and early December. On release the game was still very rocky and dull. The flying pirahna of Nektulos Forest, not to mention a few other things, were enough to get me to cancel my account and go play WoW. Also to be honest, I still plan to keep playing WoW because, to me anyway, it's a proven product, and there are still things there that I want to do and see later on.

My choice to start up EQ2 again is, for one, I see all the talk about all the new content and bug fixes that have been released, and I hear that all those who are currently playing it are happy with it and enjoying themselves. So I'll go out on a limb and try the EQ2 out again to see for myself.

They also recently added a new font to the UI. Now I know this isn't amazing news or anything, but in my opinion it does give the UI a much "cleaner" look, and things are easier to see. So even these small little "upgrades" help progress the game. And I think that old EQ2 banner said it best for me, "Why go back to a World Of Waiting?" ::::35::

Yeah, I love WoW but dang I get sick of sitting on birds for half hour only to get there and everyone says "lets do Sunken Temple instead!" So I get to hearth back to IronForge and get on another dang bird! Ugh I got saddle sores from those dang gryphons! I have the station access thinger and I'm glad cuz EQ2 is getting better every week, soon I will stop WoW altogether. I love it, but I'm almost finished with the content.

P.S. Is everyone on AB server? My main is on Butcherblock but I might start a scout on ABimage

Oh my god, didn't they have a movie called "The Pagemaster"? Maybe i'm just crazy, either that or I just played the game, and have mistaken it for a movie.

ahhhh look at that, fanboy gets all defensive when i slam the gfx, so he has to try to slam my system, sorry rathma running EQ2 on extreme doesnt make the colors more vivid, its still the same drab flat world with just more details in it

oh god I know because this art style is just so boring and unbarable to look at!

Oh no...I know there is colour somewhere in these screenshots....

FYI: Increasing the graphics won't change the colour, it's the gamma and brightness you have to change.

You guys are making me cry showing those screenshots!  image

Oh well.  Hopefully soon I'll be able to get my computer fixed, get EQII reinstalled, and I can start having fun again on it and maybe WoW again too.  Until then I have to suffer without a game to play.  And summer vacation started as well.  image

well im glad you like EQ2 gfx rathma, i still stand by my opinion that their world is dull and unimaginative and flat (my biggest pet peeve, there i absolutely no sense of altitude)

It's so good to excercise the right to have one's own opinion, isn't it?

I don't understand why most threads about EQ2 usually end up with a WoW vs EQ2 debate. Its odd.

Anyways. I just came back to EQ2 a little less than a week ago from mainly playing WoW. A tiny stint on GW, thats time I will never get back and I curse the day I bought the game. And to anyone who loves GW and wants to flame me...go ahead...I am glad you are happy I am gone, and I am glad to be gone from GW.

I played EQ2 for about a month since it released. Then went to WoW cause I had some issues with EQ2, the largest being very limited soloability. I know its a multiplayer game, and I enjoy a good group, but I play at a time when most people playing are asleep and even if I get a group it would fail for a lack of a healer. So I HAD to survive on my own.

I went to WoW and had an absolute BLAST. That was some friggin fun. I wasn't happy with the graphics at first, but I quickly got into the "mood" of it so to speak, and really got immersed. It was truly an enjoyable experience and I am glad I played. Then I hit 60. And ZZZzzzZZZzzZZZzzz....

I did the high level instances, I PvP'd till my fingers bleed (well hurt anyway). Nothing really worked. Oddly enough I turned 60 the day of the patch for the "Honor System", so my leveling experience may be different for the poor SoBs that gotta battle through that gankfest. In the end, I just found myself logging in to look for good deals on the auction hall, so I canceled. Don't get me wrong, WoW is a great game, and alot of fun. However, what Blizzard is evoloving WoW into is not a place I care to follow. I have a whole laundry list of issues, but I won't go into them.

I took some time off and played Jade Empire. Beat it in like 4 or 5 days. It was fun and a great story, recommend it for anyone who wants a break from MMORPGS.

Then I came back to EQ2. I had read alot about changes and so on and decided to give it another chance since I only played it for a month. And thats not really long enough to give any MMORPG a true shake. I have enjoyed my time back. Yes, I did notice that several changes mirrored some of WoWs features. But really, who gives a sh*t. I don't care what company takes what from whom or who thought up what first. Bleh...I just care if I like playing the game more or not. Those companies don't owe me a damn thing and I don't owe them my money...so they do what they want, and I do what I want. And so far, EQ2 seems to be moving into a direction I DO care to follow. I like the way their changes meld with what they already had.

And all games take and grow from others. Its an EVOLUTIONARY proccess. Ever since Ug turned to Thak back in the stone age and played a good game of who can pick the biggest booger.

In short, EQ2 is much better than when I last played. For me, its a better game to play than WoW. But that's just me and no one else. Both games are good games. EQ2, CURRENTLY, fits me better. And I am having a great time playing it again. If you played it before, and are looking for something to play, try giving it another shot. If you are tired of WoW and its direction, then give EQ2 another shot. Or don't...just have fun.

But please, stop the immature banter and useless trolling. Or don't, at least it gives me something to read at work.

Wow, i agree with 90 percent of this post.

WoW was a great game for about 3 months of my life.  I enjoyed almost every minute of it, but once i hit level 60 i got bored.  I played EQ2 on release, and to tell you the truth, i didnt like it as much as i did WoW.  Then i decided to give it another chance after i was done playing WoW, and i have never looked back.  They fixed alot of annoying bugs, added more than enough content to keep me busy for months to come, and some small but good improvements on the UI.

Ill give a thumbs up to both games,  play what makes you happy, just stop trolling.

You guys can argue all you want, but different games appeal to different people for different reasons. No game will ever appeal to all of the people.
I like/love every game I've played (and I've played a lot) for different reasons and when I leave I miss that game for those same reasons.
I LOVE WoW for the graphics and speed of gameplay. I LOVE eq2 for the gameplay and the community.
I LOVE AO for the pure complexity of it. I LOVE SWG for the housing, gameplay and environment.

My point is this...I dont have a point. I just love to play the games. I never criticize anyones reason for loving or hating a game.
