Sony knew this and they did it. They are going to kill Everquest and everything that we loved. Every time we talk about how we loved the old games we talked about Everquest and our memories of that game. That will be all we will be left with when this is over.... memories.

Tbh I like those memories from EQ and EQ2 hundred times more than EQN which had nothing to do with EQ imo. They only used the name of Everquest to market that Disney adaption and hype it up.
I do not care about EQN. I am sorry about Everquest and Everquest 2. EQN I never liked it and was not going to play it. This is like when Kane got burst open . They are going to eat this company from inside out.
Sooo, with Smed having a new boss maybe we'll get that EQ "restart" server up to Kunark and preferably with the updated graphics included. Oh, and no damn mercenaries. This has to be old school!
Well, atleast until something better comes along, which should be around 2017 or so.

after the update on the OP, i feel the Everquests series are gonna just milked and their IP's used somewhere else and that EQN will be multi platform like Albion or dead.
This isn't bad news. These guys have been behind some of the major decisions to by-large ignore the European market by primarily outsourcing their games to suboptimal contractors and in general given the company a terrible reputations in Europe. It is exactly like what EnMasse is doing with Tera Online right now by having given the reigns to GameForge that has made some drastic and rather bad choices.
Looking at the failure of H1Z1 and the European test of EQN (Lol jk, there wasn't one we had to suffer through +300 ms on the US server) and how Dave Georgeson repeatedly pissed on European players I'm happy to see him let go. Maybe now Europeans won't be considered second grade customers anymore.
I love the PR spin. As someone that has survived layoffs in the past I can tell you this much. Large companies value their employees much less than they say. Odds are even more people will leave after they see others getting the boot.
If you paid for EQL/EQN alpha, I would be getting my money back at this point. With a new company swooping in and staff getting fired left and right, its a perfectly valid time to ask for your money back.
I really did not have to look it up, John Smedley is in charge of daybreak gaming company. That explains the Firings. This company will fail like SWG. Smeds will fire everyone multiple times. He will never get rid of the cancer because he wont fire himself. Seriously, how does that guy get an investment group together? with a gun? Extortion? This is a disaster in the initial stages of happening. Please keep us up to date, All of us old SWG players like to see a good train wreck, especially when Smed is driving the train.

pretty obvious this would happen, they wanted to buy the games/ip but not the highly paid useless staff that came with it
I bet smed has some clause so he cant be fired but he should be #1 to go he is just a failure in the world of mmo & gaming
