I already contacted customer service, but it's been two days and when I follow up all I get back is that they will contact me when it's my turn basically. I pre-ordered the game and everything, I still have all that info, my purchase numbers, pre-order numbers, everything. However, after seeing their stand on staying sub only, I wanted to check it out again.
Here is the dilemma. I go to download the game again, and they say there is no email registered on their site that matches mine. I found my old username it is says that the account has been canceled. I still get updates to my email about the game and everything asking me to come back and all. So I'm confused about why my account was canceled and why it's taking so long to try and get it all fixed?
Anyone else have this problem? I'm trying to be patient, but two days have passed, this being the third day waiting for their response.
Thanks.
**SOLVED: UPDATE**
Today is day 6 of waiting. I had gotten an email late last night with a phone number to call. Today I called, waited on hold for close to 90mins. Talked to the Rep for about 5 minutes and everything is back up. They "resurected" the account after asking a few security things. Rep was very nice and apologetic with the inconvenience.
Downloading now, Thanks too all that offered advice.

don't know if you know the following info but it might help :
for account stuff : go to mogstation not finalfantasyXIV.com
https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/Login?cont=account&request=mogstation
Yes, but it won't even let me resubb without buying the game again. Basically, it tells me my old account has been cancelled and it's not letting me reactivate it without the help of customer support, But I have the option of buying it again.

Yes canceled my sub about two months after release. Never canceled my account though.

Yeah, it's saying the same thing that my account has been canceled.
Not sure why I'm not able to multi quote anything.

Do you have the game code that you can enter into the Mog station? I would try that if I had it. If you bought the game via SE you can go recover your game code still I believe. I would have to check on my end but I think you can.
If that is the case, I wonder if I could just register another account using my old game code?

Sure I will try that next.
Thanks for the help by the way everyone.

When you cancelled your sub, you probably hit the option to cancel your account instead.
I have no idea why they even offer that option. It just causes confusion and problems. They had the same stupid thing with ffxi, but with less clear wording, so it was more of an issue then, than it is now, lol.
Looks like you need to log into the Mogstation, there it will show you which games are registered to your account. If you own a copy, then all you need do is select the game and make/register a payment for it.
Yeah, I can't imagine that I would so something like that. I never cancel accounts. Besides, I knew at some point I would come back. But anything is possible. I very well might've hit "cancel account" not meaning to.

Ugh sounds like a pain. Sorry to hear that. I really dislike their account management interface... Or lack thereof I should say.
There web interfaces are crap, mainly due to the way they think vs how we are. I know its a pain. At least the game to me is worth it. If you end up re-rolling a new toon on Siren let me know. I am apart of a casual FC that works fairly well together. I got to help some new people the other night as well as I got helped from vets of the game since I came back to the game a few months ago. Its a good FC. Still new because we all dropped out of a large here you are just a number FC to build our own.

If/when i get back in, I definetly will. One thing I loved about this game was the community. I just didn't have the time and bought it for the future if you will.

Yea its a very good community in FFXIV. Now there are ass holes like in any game and mostly in the Duty Finder. However you can avoid them and get almost faster groups by using the party finder and they play on the same server as you so less BS. I already added friends from the Party finder to my friends list and keep in touch with them. If you get a real good group that is not rushing to do things people are willing to wait to do X instance and do it as a static group
Yeah, I'm waiting. I've lost accounts before, not in recent years. Wow up to 2 weeks? I hope not. I totally understand though about making sure it's me. This is the end of day 3, hopefully it will be tomorrow.

Hopefully you got that sorted out thereafter. Yeah, it's not a great system. Mogstation itself is pretty easy to understand, but most people just go straight to their website and don't know what a "Mogstation" is when they see the button.

This was at launch - so long time ago - I was completely new to Final Fantasy - was my first FF game - I had no clue wtf mogstation was at all - it wasn't mentioned or explained any where.
if it weren't for the community here I would have probably given up - but someone here made a detailed step by step account setup process that I followed.
Never before have I felt so damn inadequate at such a simple task - was very aggravating.
Another aggravating thing is the terms they use for the same thing are not consistent. On one door, they tell you to activate your account, but the actual words you have to look for are register serial number or some thing like that. The next thing you know, like the op, you think you are canceling your sub, but in fact you're deleting your account.
Then my credit cards would get rejected trying to renew my sub, so I had to buy crysta in the exact amount needed then use that to buy game time.
I called customer service about that and they insisted that it was a problem with my bank. And I was like really? Then why did I just this minute but crysta with the same exact card?
Seriously thought about quitting because of their shitty account management interface.
It was even worse in 1.0 if I remember correctly. I don't even remember a Mogstation existing at the start of A Realm Reborn, but then again I also went through most of that stuff when I was playing the Alpha version of the game. They definitely do need to make it more user friendly as a whole; upsetting people right out the gate with account creation isn't the best thing to do.
They even had some shady looking third party deals and didn't (probably still don't) accept paypal. I remember having to buy Crysta before using said Crysta to purchase game time. It was horrible back then.
Even their beginner's guide was hidden in places on their website that a lot of people wouldn't have gone to:
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/start_ffxiv/win/
There's an obscure link on the main page that takes you to another page, which has a small notice of a beginner's guide at the bottom. Even if you made it that far, I would naturally assume that just means getting start while already inside the game.
This and the start of the game shall always remain it's greatest weakness, in my opinion. Big fan of all their content updates, though.
--------------
Though to get back on point. I have heard of people canceling their accounts by accident. It's something they're aware of and know how to rectify it once they realize what happened. The account should be given back to you no problem. They even admitted that it was an error for them to place that button there in the past.
