Open World PVP is ok as long as there are some controls to prevent serial ganking.

Haven't seen any publisher get it right yet tbh - worst offender EVER Age of Conan.

Please for the love of all things holy put in some kind of penalties for killing PC's that aren't within 5ish levels.

Mega guilds as someone said previously can also be very, very bad. Again whats the point of having a guild with 1000+ members destroying a 100 strong guild........ Needs to be handled with care.

    Love the "Unique" idea!

Class balance is probably the hardest thing to achieve in any game - would recommend ACTUALLY listening to your community. Yes there will be whining about this or that but as a whole the community are usually the first to spot major issues....

Crafted items is gr8! But please dont end up like WoW in that it takes 300 hours of gameplay to get things - im all for having epic crafted items but make them require Unique mats from quest rewards/chains and/or unique drops from mobs.

Plenty more to say, maybe ill chime in again.

And yes your video needs some updating pdq to start the Whisper Wide Web!

I have always thought npc/monster breeding to be a great way to explain "respawns" to populate the world. Giving time of course. Magical encouraged aging and hybriding it could be used to create player mounts, companions, and enemies.

If it had more of a Darkfall 1.0 combat system, Rather then that i don't even know what that was combat system, Id play for sure with that feature list and Full Loot PvP.

I was excited until I heard open world pvp.  Too bad.  Good luck with the small niche community.

Look at Eve Online one of the most succesfull sandbox mmo's ever created.

    Its still going strong today.

I hope one day we get to play an mmo with such depth in a fantasy setting like Eve Online.

Everything destructible, world pvp, zone domination,  building castles and towns, defending sov, attacking or raiding neighbours, become a real pirate or outlaw, after seeing how Archeage did everything wrong what could go wrong i realy lost hope something like Eve Online in a fantasy setting will not be created in my lifetime :(

We are looking at EVE for a lot of our inspiration.

Our actual combat system is still early in development. I am not familiar with Darkfall 1.0.  Care to elaborate?

Yes and not hardcore pve as in 40 person raids. Hardcore pve as in open world mobs that when you see them, you have to consider going around them. As in extreme weather that can kill you. As in slipping and falling to your death off snowy peaks or, quicksand traps, poisonous plants in a thick jungle, man eating fish in the water.

A dangerous world outside where the journey is half the battle.

They, um, might want to change the name. Might be an interesting game if they do it right, and manage to stand out in the crowd of Unity builder MMOs.

    yup

    pointless game for most then

aiming for niche isn't necessarily a bad thing though

even if it was not PVP focused, being guild focused certainly means that i personally will not need to follow this game

I don't mind PvP. In fact I enjoy it, but only when it's policed well (EVE Online has a great setup, for example).  The players, as a whole, cannot be trusted to use full open PvP in a responsible, immersive way. It's just a kill or be killed environment.

first person combat for magic and archery and third person melee. Made for a very fun fighting style with both pvp and pve. Good control is key. Avoid any feeling of ice skating at all costs. The new iteration, Darkfall Unholy Wars feels terrible in comparison.

About the PVP/PVE thing, I hope the modeling after EVE Online is coming from an empire/null sec stand point. Just make sure pve'rs have plenty of space and things to do and you will never need a separate pve/pvp server.

I think the people worried about are pvp system should wait I will try to find a time gap for the writers to explain are system next week. For the most part its a non grief system that I think will calm some of your worriers.

Just don't put it on early access while using stock assets. It leaves a bad impression and makes me and others think you're just trying to earn a quick buck.

This is great news.  Finally indie developers have a tool that fits and allows the creation of MMO's.  Hopefully we see a surge in new indie MMO's over the next 5 years and we are not stuck with these AAA titles that only focus on making money.  I would love to see a game like Archeage without the terrible cash shop and overly-restrictive labor point system.

Utherous is being made by a really talented team and they have a great feel for what made some of the more classic MMOs great. Expect awesome stuff

Too many "open world" PvP games coming down the pike now.

Devlopers are all stuck in a loop, seems like they all get on a track and its a race to see which one can release XXX MMO first. Open world PvP, and zombie survival are the big ones now, and the obligatory 'sandbox' game. Those have replaced the list of 'dynamic' and story driven MMOs of the past 6-7 years.

Nothing wrong with open PvP (uninstanced)  but it has to be on a amp by map basis and not all over the game world. It should also be voluntary with as many safeguards and restrictions as possible. Because if anything has shown us PvP brings out the worst in everyone, whether they like PvP or not.

There has yet to be a PvP (focused) game, especially one that can be described as 'open world',  that has been even remotely successful so I just cant understand why people keep trying to make one when so many have failed.

If you want to have these unique dynamic events and random encounters then keep the world PvE. Putting them in PvP ALWAYS sounds fun in theory but when have they ever been fun in reality? Except for the people who ganked and screwed everyone trying to overcome their bullied complex.

Even these 'hardcore' PvE encounters might not work because if you want them to be epic theyre going to require layers so you have to either make them scaleable or insure youre game is fun enough to keep a healthy population that can actually defeat these awesome encounters.

I'm sorry..I just read "the game also has a stress mechanic, where your character acquires stress while out and about and can only be recovered by spending time at a tavern or the like."

This smells like ArcheAge's labor system and a big reason why I quit AA because of it.

    I'll pass on this game.

Original SWG had "battle fatigue" and it worked fine, then, you just had to go listen to a player entertainer a while and you were fine. Plus (unlike AA) battle fatigue didn't stop you from doing anything, it just laid some penalties on you, when you had a lot.

Open world PvP is not necessarily bad, just means you can PvP any where.

Always active PvP (as opposed to PvP flagged) and lootable player corpses is something else entirely.

Well I'm sorry but I just have to say it. Why would anyone call their game anything that remotly ressembles a part of the female genitalia? That's like putting out a game out there called "Vaginus". I'm not trolling, I'm dead serious. I hope they'll switch the name eventually....

Anything in particular in Age of Wulin? I don't have any experience with it but would love to know what you found intriguing about it.

We are hoping to have the majority of stock assets out by steam early access.  Unfortunately our art team can only work so fast!  I do put art updates up on the site as new art is finished.

Rhime would you mind going into more detail about what you dislike about the stress system?  Is it the 'forced'  break in game play? or something else?
