    $15 = $.50 a day

If you can't afford $.50 a day then you probably should be spending more time in school and less time playing games.  If you aren't in school and can't afford $.50 a day, then you should probably go back to school so you can get a real job.

I don't care if a game only costs $1/month. If the value isn't there, I'm not going to pay for it.
Having said that, for me WoW is worth the monthly fee. The game has kept me entertained since last October.

You need to tell me what game style you like before I can offer advice. ::::20::

I would say it's well worth it.  $15 a month for a nice after work diversion is a steal.  Can't think of many other vices where $15 will get you very far.

Well WoW does come with a free month of game play.  So if you decide its not the game for you, you are not forced to pay the 15 dollars.  And if you think about it, most new games cost about 50 bucks, PS2 and Xbox games which you play much less.

So if the game is peaking your interest and buy it you can easily make up your mind in a month if paying an extra 15 dollars a month is worth it.

But I sure miss the days where the monthly rate for MMORPGs were $9.95 image

yea its worth it. Unlike some other games this will keep you on for a good while, and if you want a game thats worth your time, you have to pay monthly for it :/, but yea, its worth it.

Sigh. I have played WOW since the beginning. I was level 60 in December not very many people were on my server. I completed every instance in the game at least 6 times and have been bored since January.

I still play it, but have been bored for 5+ months. The game lacks any real game content and is quite shallow. The developers believe PvP expansion is the way to go, those of us who are on non PvP servers "by choice" are not getting any development for our monthly fee's. If you crave PvP you may like it a lot if you crave a well thought out game with tons of high end content for both groups and solo play, this game lacks it totally.  I am debating trying guild wars not sure if it will be my cup of tea though or not.

I am paying for it on a month-by-month basis, and I ask myself at the end of every billing period if I am still having enough fun to cough up another $15 to keep going. I've been playing since December, and so far the answer has been yes. But I am playing through pretty slowly. YMMV. Anyway, taking it a month at a time is working for me.

It is definitely worth the $15 for the first couple of months, in any case, imo.

I would say if you have an intrest in making lots of diferent styles of characters, and have friends you know who are playing, then its well worth it, but if not then maybe not as much

First few months are definatly worth the $15.  After that, Its just a matter of how into the PvP system are you, since thats all your going to be doing.  Personally, I'd stick with paying one month at a time, since this game can go from amazing, to I'd rather watch a blank screen really fast after youve been 60 for a while.

It could be free and I would not play it.  WoW is just not for me, very easy, dumbed down for noobs of MMORPG and boring as sin.  However you might like it.

Well if your going to flame the game, why not back it up?

otherwise you might sound like a jackass....

Yes, worth it.  But my tastes might be different than yours.  If you have played MMORPGs in the past, then I think you'll be happy.  If you are not experienced in MMORPGs then you will be about 50/50 on it.

Oh yeah? I know this chick that hangs out on the corner near my favorite bar that you can get very far with for 15 bucks! ::B^>:: But then that diversion only lasts a few minutes so I guess I have to agree with you. WoW lasts all month for 15 bucks so it's hard to beat! ::::20::

    it depends on the person.

If you plan on playing WoW 3-4 hours a day, then I would say its worth $15/month.

On the other hand, if you'd rather not feel pressured to keep playing for your money's worth or if you're a busy person like I am, then get a game with no monthly fee.  A good example is Guild Wars, which is an awesome game and costs nothing to play besides buying it for $50 in the store.

Sad thing is.  Wow is an awesome game, but with crappy custermor and tech support the game is starting to go down hill.  Very bad planning on them to.  After release of the honor system without battlegrounds on pvp servers xp camp spots became farming honor points while people trying to lvl.  Before honor system I would only get ganked like 3 times in a 3 to 4 hour period.  Since release of it I had to leave the pvp server cause I would kill 3 mobs while dieing 6 times to pvp.  Spent like over a week to finish off 1 quest (should taken 2 hours max).  Then blizz says everything will change with battlegrounds.  Another hyped to much content.  Ruined by poor planning and lack of knowledgable people.  BG is fun as hell when you get in.  Since there is a que to form teams.  Average wait time on blackrock is 2 hours.  Sometimes shorter other times after 3.5 hours to get you. You give up.  I am going to take a break and take advantage of the free 14 days of CoH.  Out of all the mmpg I have played I never left cause of boredom but,  left cause they changed the game where its no fun for me any more.  Wow is starting to be no fun now.  Sad to say.

i feel your pain and agree on some of your points, i had to leave my pvp server for the same reason and when BG came out on the pve server i was on, there was 2-3 hour wait. so i went back to my old pvp server and most i wait is like 20 mins but usually its instant. as far as tech support i have never had any problems with it... i mean ya it sometimes takes a day or two but you gatta realize how many people play this game, they cant awnser everyone right away. so go to a pvp server if you want to do alot of BG it worked for me =]

As an experienced MMO player, I found that WoW got stale pretty fast.  I will admit though, I enjoyed the game quite a bit for the free month.  I never payed the $15 a month for it.  This was my intention from the beginning though because I dont wanna spend the time, but I wanted to see how good or bad WoW was.

My suggestion to less experienced MMO players is to not OVERPLAY the game.  Take your time, go slow, be casual, and smell the roses along the way.  The low end PvE content is the best Ive ever seen in an MMO.  If you spend hours and hours every day playing, you will blow through it too fast.

As a veteran DAOC player, I found the PvP in WoW to be severly noobish, and lacking of any real purpose.  Definetely disappointing from a company as experienced as Blizzard.  Some of you may argue that eventually they will get it right.  Realistically, they already had a few years of design and dev to get it right.  Not to mention, excellent PvP models to start with from games like Shadowbane and DAOC.

As far as high level PvE or high end content, I cant comment cause my interest has always been in the PvP and I never played EQ.

For someone who enjoys WoW, $15 a month is clearly giving enormous value, considering how much time you can spend playing it.  You can spend $15 pretty fast IRL.

A better question is:  Is WoW worth the time required to play it?

For me personally, the answer is a resounding NO.  Even if WoW had no monthly fee, I still wouldnt play it.

BTW, I quit DAOC for good just before TOA came out ( 1.5 yrs ago ) so dont know much bout the DAOC PvP after that.  I currently dont play any MMOs because none interest me and they take too much of my time.

the game seem to be giving out a lot of free updates so far (I mean, didn't have to pay another 30 for an update like what most mmo is doing).  Thus, I think it is wroth the 15 a month so far.

Sad thing is that waiting time is on blackrock my first choice of servers. I went back to it when bg was released. The waiting time was longer on my pve server then pvp. The issue I found is that blizz states its that there is not enough on the other side to start an instance. I did who warsong and there was never more then 30 in warsong. That tells me that there is only 3 instances open. With blackrock being a heavy population with 2 to 1 popluation advantage to the allience. I wonder how long they are waiting. 3 instances is not no way enough. In beta for bg there was a 5 min waiting time for horde and 2 hours for allience (due to the popluation imbalance). They already know how many people are playing at any given time. I am hoping they open up more instances in time. Thanks for in insight ::::40::.

A lot depends on what your playstyle is.

    a) If you are not planning on getting in a guild, you will end up looking for groups a lot of the time in the very laggy cities or areas, instas are a very large part of the game. Of course, there are these meeting stones, you say, but nobody uses them and they are quite frankly very bugged. Groups outside of a good guild are often based on luck, a lot of times there are people who take the very rare items you need and they only want to sell right in front of your nose when it was agreed that need comes first. Or there are the ones who play their class poorly(aka n00bs :)) I'm playing a hunter and they are very unwanted because they are very skill dependant and a lot of very unskilled people play them which makes a lot of people have very bad experiences with them.

    b) What class will you chose as a main? This one has to be thought out, if you are competitive or have a lack of endurance, by any means, do not go for the hunter. It's an unfinished class, subpar compared to other classes. Although they've had some love, warlocks are very bugged aswell still.

PvE wise, this game is pretty nice, high end instas and the collection of better equipment are pretty nice at high end and even better before.

PvP wise, WoW is lacking, it's pretty unbalanced and the new Battlegrounds are even worse when you play capture the flag or something.

Go play this if you're largely PvE, guild oriented. If not, you might and will have second thoughts and will get frustrated.
