its 2 bars of 5 skills + 2 ultimate = 10 skills and 2 ultimate. personally to me that is plenty enough to keep me having fun. you can easily reset your skills to one of the 6 weapons. I actually use all the skills frequently. in other mmos i barely use more than 3 kills.
ESO is stable. Period. Many problems are traced to people running mods, which can indeed wreak havoc; if you really want to have problems solved, as opposed to complaining on message boards, turn off all mods, see what persists, and then describe it so that it can be isolated.
Bugs never factored into my game experience at all. You can tell the difference between games where bugs are a majority concern and ones where they're primarily an issue with mods and some hardware configurations. And ESO is definitely in door#2.
One good way to think about this: if bugs really were impacting hundreds of thousands of people, there would be tens of thousands of *active* posts and threads. There aren't.
And why hasnt Zenimax provided a functional UI so people have to run addons to get some basic functionality?
DONT blame people for developers faults.

The UI is completely functional. In fact it's great. Sorry it's not your thing, but it's not broken.
it's called standard UI, to some people standard is not enough, reason why they have addons so that people can personalise in their own way.

The only problem with the UI is that they allow addons. The vanilla UI is a reflection of the immersive type of game they wanted to build. I think they just leave themselves open to attack (like the above) by certain types of mmo players by letting addons alter the UI.
Not to mention that since addons are allowed, you pretty much have to install them for competitive type play, which in itself feedsback into my above point, creating a vicious cycle of whinny mmo forum posts.

They allowed addons because they are aware they have crappy UI. If they were so certain that its THE UI, they could easily say NO to addons.
And ESOUI pretty much proves the point.
The only whines about UI happen in games that have crappy UI. And when developers want others to do their job.

Read the thread, they claim poor performace because of addons and you shouldnt use any and its all your fault.
Had a friend buy eso on steam downloaded it can't get launcher running, i am a computer tech with 25 years experience i have my own shop.
Looked at his system made sure no viruses, malware, rootkits. Checked to make sure all drivers are up to date and that hard drive and ram have no problems.
Uninstalled eso using revo uninstaller, removed every running process that does not need to run in msconfig and checked for unneeded programs using autoruns, re-installed eso STILL eso will not run.
Formatted system windows 8.1 latest drivers nothing else installed ,installed eso STILL launcher will not run checked forums over 50 people have exact same problem.
Looks like he will not be able to play eso do to bad coding on zenixmax part.

Addons arent affecting the games performance on my PC either. I remove them and still have the same bad performance (spoiler: i need to upgrade my pc), addons had nothing to do with it. I played Skyrim with 100+ mods and ran like a boss when it came out (spoiler: with the same hardware i currently have).
EDIT: not saying addons and mods dont affect performance, but in this particular cases they at least never affected mine.

Nah, just showing principle of "blame everything and anything but the game" defence.
But i think that blaming player for games flaws is the bottom. And its not just fellow players that are doing it, EA blamed players for SWTORs bad perfoemance.
And yah, any forums should not affect your experience, but people should learn once and for all: problems dont get solved by themselves and if novody points at the problem, it will continue to exist. of course, if someone has a problem with the core game, that wont change, but performace and better UI are quite in the realm of possible.

Oh come on. This is just absurd. You guys are seriously reaching.
I'm not a computer tech with 25 years experience, and even I know there's myriad things that can cause problems with a program - any program, MMO or otherwise. The list of possible reasons goes well beyond the things you tested, which are basically "do-it-yourself PC troubleshooting 101". You don't need 25 years of experience to know to try those things. Five minutes on Google would yield the same steps/procedures... and then some. There's a few others I can think of off the top if my head which you didn't list, but are also common issues with software not running correctly or at all.
The list of potential problems with the system go well beyond the things you allegedly tried. If you truly have 25 years of experience, then you should already know this. Someone with 25 years experience should know those are only a handful of possible things to look at. So how can it be that you don't?
The game starts up and plays for thousands and thousands of others, with all manner of hardware and software configurations. They've even gotten it working on Linux via WINE, for crying out loud. But none of that matters... that your friend's computer can't run it, even with your "25 years of expertise", clearly lies at the feet of Zenimax. Right.
lol
All the renewed attention to ESO must really be grating on some of you people, with how actively you're trying to slam it lately. Must really be grinding your gears to see a game you don't like doing well.
It's hilarious, and sad, to see how desperately some of you are trying to tear down a game simply because you don't like it.
I'd suggest finding a hobby, but I have the distinct feeling that what some of you are doing is your hobby.

Okay, then.
No, zeroing out a HD and reinstalling everything from scratch doesn't guarantee anything. I know this from first-hand experience with low-level formats and clean reinstalls... on my own systems, and on computers at work. In every case, the issues persisted. In every case, the issue turned out to be problems with the computer... not the software. Once the actual problem was discovered and fixed... the problems mysteriously disappeared, and everything started working properly. Imagine that.
Of course, in every case, we didn't stop with "PC troubleshooting 101", and just decide "It's clearly the software's fault!".
Doing a fresh reinstall does not prove anything. Again, as a computer tech with supposedly 25 years experience, you should know this.

.
You should read the whole post already did full ram, hard drive and motherboard tests so hardware is ruled out loaded wow on machine plays flawlessly.
Weird.. runs fine for me.. I've been playing with computers for 30 years now. I also fix particle accelerators. I think I'm qualified enough to deduce that the issue could still be software/driver related.
You should read the whole post already did full ram, hard drive and motherboard tests so hardware is ruled out loaded wow on machine plays flawlessly.
I did read the whole post. By your own description, you did not troubleshoot the entire system.
I can think of a few off the top of my head (without even being a computer tech), which are common problem spots with software, and can cause the very issue you described. You mentioned none of them in your posts.
Again, it surprises me that you - a supposed 25 year computer-tech - didn't seem to think of these scenarios yourself.
The fact remains... you did not do a thorough troubleshooting job. You covered what anyone could find in 5 minutes on Google, stopped there, decided you'd done all you could and concluded, "nope! It's definitely the game!", leaving numerous other possible scenarios on the table, un-tested.
That's just lazy.
Meanwhile, thousands of other people, with thousands of other hardware/software configurations - old installs, new installs, Windows 8, 7, maybe even 10... even on Linux - are playing the game just fine.
But yeah, clearly it's the game, and not something up with your friend's system. Because you tested everything.
I also have years of programming experience C/C++, assembly, java,C# ran a debugger stepped through the code of the launcher found out that a change to patcher code prevented UserSettings.txt from being created, manually created the file and now it works.
Proof that Zenimax does not test code properly that hundreds of players are having the same issue, thing is on an update you would not experience this problem ,on a fresh install the launcher would fail to launch.
Zenimax needs to code a proper debug on userserttings failure to load that in show just how sloppy their code really is.

Years of programming experience? And you did that? Instead of just googling... dude that's a seriously common problem... on certain PC's...
Seriously... jesus there is a guide for simple fixes... from OVER a YEAR AGO.. no need to go debugging things... just google it FFS.
I trump your programming by using this ingenious thing called Google. It's like a fast lane.. you type in a couple of things it's doing.. add the name of the game.. and WHAMMY! there's you answers.
This is why most tech jobs are being outsourced to India ladies and gents.

Sure you did. What change prevented the text file from being created. I always love to hear it from the IT pros and people with multiple language experience to just debug things and then come up with a vague fault. It's always so easy to find fault in other peoples coding and design isn't it.
Go ahead and post the bug and fix here.
Change from previous version of patcher code, like said since that file already exists if your just updating your patcher no problems, but if it is a fresh install patcher will fail to run.

Right.

Change from previous version of patcher code, like said since that file already exists if your just updating your patcher no problems, but if it is a fresh install patcher will fail to run.
