It was a multiplayer ship demo, not a real dogfight because the Constellation is not yet available in Arena Commander. This will come in AC 2.0 later this year.
So he himself did not fight any Constellation or Idris.
P.S - Costs like that wont get many players in the game and it will fail before it even starts, thx but hmm i will stick with other games instead, that dont cost a grand to start out and probably 1k or more to play per year.
Sorry to disappoint you on the point of "wont get many players in the game", but at the moment the game gains approx. 2000 new players PER DAY ! Continously for the last year or so ....
And once again and slowly ... all you need to play this game including Alpha and Beta is a 45 $ pledge. It was even as low as 25 $ in special events a few months ago. Since yesterday you can try out ANYTHING available in the game for in game currency - or FREE as almost every week there is a "Test for free" event.
And even more slowly ... this is a CROWDFUNDING campaign. You CAN pay more than 45 $, but you DO NOT HAVE TO. This is a game intended to run for a decade at least. Any initial starting advantages from having some more gear at game launch are completely insignificant after a few weeks as you have plenty of time to get everything you ever wanted, BE anything you want ....
Have fun
All nice talk, but when is this "game" getting released, apparently they got their cashshop in place first before everything else....so when is this thing going Live? next month?
Or are you going to stay in paid alpha for 10 years?

Here is the current release schedule. Many new modules being added throughout 2015.
The project takes about 4-5 years. We are currently at the 2.5 year mark, so approx. at 50 %. Detailed progress reports are published on the CIG website.
"Next month" ... ***smile*** not quite. End of 2016, beginning of 2017 for the full game. People are used to see only the end of a 5 year development cycle. They hear about a game and expect it to launch a few months later. That is not the case here. HERE you are with the project from day 1 ... that means you see it evolve over 5 years.

Yea that's what I thought, speculation at it's best. Can't wait for 2.0, so we can finally put a end to all this p2w non-sense.

Chris clearly stated that constelation will defeat not one but 3 hornets, and was shown a video. Not sure where is the speculation on my side.
So a 5 manned connie can kill 3 hornet. That's not op, can a 5 manned constellation totally destroy 6 hornets? That would be p2w. Or can 1 player connie with npc manned turret kill 5 hornets ? Until we play the game we have no idea how balanced it will be.
Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people, typically via the internet.[1] One early-stage equity expert described it as “the practice of raising funds from two or more people over the internet towards a common Service, Project, Product, Investment, Cause, and Experience, or SPPICE.”[2]
The crowdfunding model is fueled by three types of actors: the project initiator who proposes the idea and/or project to be funded; individuals or groups who support the idea; and a moderating organization (the "platform") that brings the parties together to launch the idea.[3]
In 2013, the crowdfunding industry grew to be over $5.1 billion worldwide
Besides this thread is a typical example of baiting, this guy ALWAYS makes the exactly same threads. Really getting boring.

This is buying ships. We are discussing here the ship capabilities and price. Nothing wrong with buying ships in my opinion. Some ships worth the price, some dont. The value is in the eye of the buyer.

I just pointed out that a 250$ ship will kill a 110$ ship. And that's a fact confirmed and proved with video.

It's not that simple, can't that hornet just fly away ? Is the constellation faster ? Just because a constellation can kill a hornet doesn't mean it will always kill it if they meet in space.
A constellation is like a 5 man squad, so yes it should have superior shield and fire power than 1 hornet. But does it have advantage over another 5 man squad using hornets ? That is the question.
paying for a ship after you pay for game is just outrageous to me. who the hell do they think they are? CHARGING for assets in the game? imagine if every dev started doing this bs.. you gotta buy the game but cant actually play it until you buy a specific asset IE: your character model ,ETC.. this game is out of hand.

you don't have to do anything
I don't know what's so hard to grasp about the crowdfunding concept

Technically it's 250 in support of the game's development... it's one of their avenues of crowd funding. I guess that's less of a reason to throw around such insults though, might as well sensationalize.

Stop comming with ridicoulus arguments:
Rule is simple more expensive ship will defeat less expensive ship in the same class(aka fighters in this example).
There will be exceptions where one ship run, or manage to jump on back of other ship and the more expensive ship panics but on 1 vs 1, face 2 face , no ambushes the engagement of the outcome is clear.

Well yes, bigger ships will kill smaller ships, is there a game where this is not true ? There is a ship progression in game, it's only normal for the higher ship to be better. I am not sure what point you are trying to make ?

And this is the problem with Star Citizen fanboys.
People are actually visualizing scenarios and gameplay in their minds, without the actual product. Do people not see how ridiculous this is?
How do we know there will be balance? What about stability and performance? Lag? Guilds and "whales"? Combat?
All these factors need to be considered via actual interactions of the gameplay, on a massive scale (not a demo presentation).
Salesman says: I have this great new concept of a flying car. I need funding for the prototypes.
Investor says: Sure! Take my lifesavings!
Then the flying car turns out to be a total flop with bad engine design, not to mention all the other factors that plague it, such as the environment (wind, rain, etc.).
god i can't wait for this game to release and totally crash like hindenburg and titanic combined. the hate/rage/whine threads of the 'investors' (yes, they call themself investors...) will be aaaaawesome.

For what? You know what donations are for?
It´s 2015 and there are still people who don´t understand crowdfunding where the money comes from actual gamers instead of greedy investor suits.

Why would anyone donate to a for-profit company?
Buy from or even invest in. . .
. . .but donate?
just lol.
