And your first MMO... wasn't a MMORPG. From the developer's own words, they called it a CORPG (Cooperative Online RPG).

Maybe MMORPGs just aren't your thing, and CORPGs are what you enjoy. Games like Dungeon and Dragons Online, or even Diablo III.

It was said in the first annoucment that GW2 would be a fully fledged MMORPG and would not be like GW1.

It was also said that GW2 would have everything we loved about GW1 in a fully persistent world. The entire manifesto was a lie lol, taught me not to ever trust a dev team and don't get too hyped for a game ever cuz it's usually bullshit.

Not a single part of the manifesto was a lie. What you made of it in your imagination doesn't mean it was a lie.

The biggest problems with today's MMOs compared to old times is that people have insane expectations and build games in their minds that were never ever promised by any developer... and then they blame the developer for not delivering them.

Dude what I said was an exact quote... "we've taken everything you loved about GW1 and put it into a fully persistent world" blah blah I had no more expectation than what should have been expected.

Honorable mention: "I swung a sword, HEY I swung a sword again!" what do you do in GW2? Press 1 repeatedly or just leave it on autoattack and ball up with the other players. It gets really intense when I swap to shortbow and stack might real quick before switching back and spamming 1 again. That's like, 3 entire actions.

I suggest you watch that propaganda bullshit again and rethink your statement

Another memorable quote was "We don't make grindy games" lmfao ya right

    1. you did that in GW1 too

    2. GW2 has no mandatory grinds. You CAN grind IF you want to.

What you imagined GW2 was to be obviously dont match what they said and what was reality. Imagination is a powerful tool.

    1) no

    2) I guess you're right if all you want to do is remain level 1 and run around in queensdale with no gear and never experience any content.

It's not mandatory that I eat food but I guess I have to if I want to remain living huh

Can you stop with the Guild Wars 2 thing.

haqving 1500 skills sounds awesome....on paper and "conceptual" level

If you are so sure that same people who made GW1 decided to axe it just on a whim, more power to you.

When it gets promoted to practical level its unworkable. Unless you make huge restrictions on skill usage, which also defeats having 1500 skills in the first place.

Just take MTG as an example. It has awesome number of cards, but formats restrict what cards you can use and some formats that include all/most of the cards are just retarded to play.

Guild Wars 2 is not even made by the same people or teams.

Do you even know when grundwork for GW2 was set. Please, inform yourself better next time.

Regardless, if there is enough people requesting for a true GW successor, a dream will eventually becomes a reality (Just like Camelot Unchained).

His something nice to give you hope in your own dream.

I thank you for your offer of hope image Unfortunately, that game has burnt it's chance more than once, intentionally or not.

If the team can step up the effort and pull everything together (and in a serious effort to do so), it may succeed to be the Real Deal. I do still reserve my doubts though after seeing the drama it goes through lol

The possibility of the universe collapsing into a singularity is higher than the birth of a perfect MMORPG.

Aaaaaaaa..... nothing like Guild Wars 1's Alliance Battles. To this day no pvp mod has matched its excitement and strategic mechanics while being epic and grand scale in its zones.Talk all  you want about your warhammer online pvps there is nothing as cool as Alliance Battles.

The Guild Wars 1's combat system is the best, though not action combat,it is smart and smooth.

    These threads are absolutely ridiculous.

You will never have what you want in a new mmo, from a previous mmo.

There will never be a spiritual successor to GW1.

Nothing against you personally, but, I've been there and done that.

After playing Shadowbane, there were certain things I longed for in MMO's.

After playing DAOC, I missed the RvR and I complained about WoW's attempt at pvp with Alterac Valley.

Every game is it's own thing. It's own recipe.

Your want, your desire to see another dev make a game with all these things you want is like expecting your local restaurants to suddenly make the kind of food you want.

It's just not going to happen.

Have you even played guild wars 1? In guild wars 2 skill 1 is auto attack, In guild wars 1 auto attack is not on your skill bar, you double click the enemy to start attacking them, Auto attack in gw1 didn't really do alot of damage most of your damage came from skills, What I would do is run in press 'C' (target nearest enemy) and 'spacebar' (starts auto attacking them) then go through various skills on skill bar then once I killed them press C again and continue, the combat was so smooth imo, it felt like you had 100% control of your actions, For me gw1 has the best combat of any mmo i've ever played, I think action combat in mmo's is over rated. The point magdaer was making I believe is that in guild wars 2 the content is so easy and dumbed down that you can basically go through the entire game using auto attack, if you ever played gw1 which i'm kind of doubting you have you would know that the content was much more difficult and tactical based you actually had to plan how you would go in and fight a boss or you would get destroyed again and again unlike gw2 where you can run in naked and spam 1 and still win, there was even a hard mode setting in gw1 than would make all these casual mmo players of today cry themselves to sleep at night.

Please never compare the difficulty of guild wars 1 vs guild wars 2 again it makes you sound like a retard. Also fyi guild wars 1 was not grindy you could get 1 to max level in like an hour or something (only vanity titles were grindy) Gw1 most people get to max lvl about 10% into the story and the game really begins at max lvl, gw2 is the opposite you grind to lvl 80 then there's nothing left to do.

Spiritual successor doesn't  need to be a 100% recreation of the original. For instance City Skylines looks and feels like Sim City, but it isn't Sim City.City Skylines is its own while making feel like you playing Sim City games.Guild Wars 1 like Sim City isnt hard to reproduce in feel and mechanics.

    1. yes

    2. no. You had to level in GW1 also. And all the mindnumbing skill collecting you were forced to do.... And in GW2, running around queensdale WILL level you lol, there was even this thing called "Queensdale champ train" that a lot of people used for leveling. So you are absolutely right about that part, you dont even have to leave Queensdale IF you dont want to.

Thats true also, but GW1 was much more constricted in what you can do. And it was grindy, its incomparable, really, to GW2.

Also you couldnt jump jump. And jumping puzzles are SO much fun.

I Don't Care If The Game Has No Jump Or WVW,This Not Point!

The Point Of This Is To Show That There Are People That Want To See One Made. Not If Guild Wars 1 Is Better Then Ever Other MMO!

Also your not going to play the game.Whats the big deal?

In short, Paragon needed a revamp badly(Shouts and anthems at least) and they used a cheap cop-out(tntf + sy). These changes wouldn't take more than two patches anyhow.

After each class is COMPLETELY playable, we can talk about GW 1 ++ imo.

What is wrong with you all?

    Guild Wars 1 spiritual successor

Not Guild Wars 1 is the Best mmo ever!

Firstly Its a SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR NOT Guild Wars 1 2.0.And Even If It Is Guild Wars 1 2.0.Your Not Going PLAY It  Anyway,Because Your Saying Its Not The MMO For You.Then Go Play The MMOS You like and Stop Doing This Pointless Thing.

GW1 already had at least 2 "spiritual successors" that I know of. The first was just a year after the GW1 release, DDO. And the second just a couple of years ago, Neverwinter. There may be more....
