At the end of the day, If the game is solid it will not hurt for a player base. Whether it is $15/Month or $25/Month, both are low amounts that most players will not have a problem paying. In reality, $25 is less than a meal out for 2 at Chilis.

I couldn't care less what people like to play, and I'm not suggesting its the ONLY way to make a game (like some of you), but when, it has to people like yourself imply that shallow design is somehow the better way be corrected.  Whether you like it or not, having to play multiple MMORPGs is evidence of a problem that, years ago, never needed to be said aloud.  Now you pass it off as gospel truth like we've evolved to some better place where casual games are somehow innately superior to virtual worlds that offered long term rewards and enjoyment.

The first highlighted part translates to:

"All modern games are shallow and I will valiantly fight against this by presenting my opinion as a proven fact."

    Second part...

I'm not the one saying the same things over and over like you do. I'm saying playing multiple games for different reasons is completely ok. My rl is not so empty that I need a virtual second life to make up for it.

Jeez now that I'm a cult member chanting about old mechanics and I have no life and need games to validate my existence, I really have no way to respond do I?

Now then, putting aside your feeble attempts to shame and manipulate myself and others, lets focus on the fact that I did say people can play games the way they want and that I was correcting the misconception that games must be shallow to be fun.  Preference is involved in playing a game, and I'm not trying to say you can't enjoy multiple games.  I do, however, contend that much of the reason people are playing multiple mmorpgs is because they are now about convenience over realism and immersion.  There is literally no reason to have persistent worlds in most modern MMOs, because they were created to offer short term fun.  Hence all the instancing, and cross server lobby game implementation.  That stands in stark contrast with what older MMORPGs had to offer, and is different than what many people want in an online RPG.

That is one of the bigger features we hope Pantheon will provide, and what makes it different than the alternatives.

NO, you are obviously are not a cult member. You are a Role Player, where as He is an Arcade Player.

You are two different market segments, trying to be heard. And while He has 5 games to choose from and isn't enthralled in any of them particularly, you are patient because you see the light at the end of the tunnel in Pantheon.

In the end, most here at MMORPG.com banging their head against the idea of Pantheon are the ones who will become most addicted to it. This thread is a wealth of information, I hope my efforts are not wasted.

No I am just sick of you guys praising this as the next coming with McQuaid as your savior.

If your motto is Watch & Learn why don't you just wait then - you know - 2 or 3 years until the game is actually released?

Try and read the thread. Don't be a noob.

I've already explained the demographics involved, your opinion doesn't hold weight until you read this thread. I know education is painful, but do eet.

You may be sick of the oldguard praising Brad's commitment to oldschool gaming, only because you do not understand it. Where do you fit in?

Every time you post you are helping customers and mmo gamers take a pass on Panth.  Your condescending "Watch and Learn" only cements that fate.  If you are a troll trying to make the "fans" of this mmo look toxic.  Well, you are doing a good job.  Any interest I might of had in this mmo is basically gone when I see you and the same 2 other people replying with the same PR nonsense over and over.  No matter how much logic and reason people give you to keep your expectations realistic.  You spew some delusional ideas of grandeur.  You are as bad as any religious leader out their preying on people's children with fairy tale stories.

I can't believe that people write this kind of posts. Not about the game but expanding on their hate of people because they like  the Pantheon concept.

It takes a seriously screwed up head to be like that.

As for Pantheon, I like the tenets and if this game releases there is a very high probability that I will be customer.

If you don't like the tenets and won't be customers then you are irrelevant.

Then the best is to shut up and go somewhere else to write about games you like.

You think that was about people liking the concepts of this game? Plenty of us like the written concepts of this game, yet we're not here doing what a few others are. There's no reason to be a condescending douche because people don't agree with your projected opinion about a games future success.

The game sold about 242k copies at launch.  In a few months it was down to 40k subs.  In 2009 it was basically a ghost town.  So, that isn't really that impressive.  All mmos get a large amount of copies sold at launch.  This is nothing new.  Especially in a time when you had maybe 1 mmo launch a year.

Hello there.  I realize this thread is a couple of months old, and I've also not been posting outside of our own site very much, but I did need to clarify something that warrants briefly abandoning my usual lurking:

The plan is for Pantheon to be completely free, no handicaps, until somewhere between levels 5-10.  Then it will use the tried and true subscription based model, which we feel fits our target audience perfectly, but it will be the traditional $15 a month.  We do NOT plan on asking for more.  I think the origin of the rumor was on our official boards, and the question came up: 'would you pay more than $15, and what would you expect for paying more?'  Unfortunately, this general discussion seems to have morphed and evolved a bit as it spread around the net and some people think we are actually going to charge more than what is traditional.  We aren't.

Anyway, great thread, even though it's a couple months old, and I appreciate both the support and the skepticism -- while we've made a lot of progress, we absolutely still have a ways to go.   I would only ask that those who support the game already be as kind to those who may have questions, or may be skeptical, or even those who aren't interested really at all.   Everyone deserves respect, regardless of their opinions.   All in all, though, great thread.  We are planning a significant PR campaign, more info about the game, and other plans I can't get into yet, but it will probably be a couple of months before this major update.  Thanks for your patience.

Even though i post on the official forums it's good that you come here to set the record straight. I think most here will gladly pay the sub if the game delivers.
