Interested to see what E3 will bring. I really hope that more weapon options are more viable. I felt stuck with small arms in F3 a lot of the time, since they were so abundant.
I don't know what it is about this one... but I was a blubbery, oozing mess over the game yesterday BEFORE I found out they're basing it in my home freaking city.
Now I can't even...

'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.
When your head is stuck in the sand, your ass becomes the only recognizable part of you.
No game is more fun than the one you can't play, and no game is more boring than one which you've become familiar.

I'm from Boston too, should be cool. Graphics didn't look awe inspiring, but yeah that's fine with me. As long as I can tell they have been hard at work with the writing and RPG gameplay I'll deal. I want multiple viable character builds, I want to replay this game at least twice and have nearly two completely different experiences.
Gotta remember Bethesda takes their damn time when making games. They probably started this a whole hell of a long time ago.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
Can there be more color after the apocalypse, please. And more color contrast. One of the reasons I didn't like FO3 was the everyplace looked the same to me.
Skyrim to some extent, due to so much snow and rock, had a lot of black, gray, and white areas, too. More color variation and differences in areas, Bethesda!
God i hope they didn't pour all the money and time on graphics. I really need a great RPG from them for a change. And i hope the PC version has its own UI. I want a great story and gameplay.
Seriously, wth with all the gripes about "the graphics suck"? Good graphics can only do so much for a game when it plays like crap, story is crap, ui is crap, and controls are crap. I had high expectations for Witcher 3, "OOOH GOOD GRAPHICS"....yeah too bad it blows chunks imo. Could barely stand how the controls work let alone the crapstatic jumping around fighting, and making huge U-turns just to loot a body.
Fallout has always stood the test of time in terms of replay and fun value and I'm betting Fallout 4 won't be any different. Well, unless Bethesda decided to sell its soul..
If Fallout 4 has survival elements in its gameplay like a need for water, food, rest, etc, I personally feel it would only add to the whole "apocalyptic" future bit. As it should of been this way from the start.
I disagree on the first two points vehemently. I don't want Fallout to be a survival game. I want to enjoy the landscape and the area at a certain leisure, with the exception of mobs. But scacety of ammo, stimpacks, heat and thirst NO THANKS.
Also, no vehicles pls. Any such things would make the world feel smaller, and is contrary to the exploration nature of a Fallout game. In Elder Scrolls games I never used mounts too, because that just beat the sense of the thorough exploration.
The personal story can also be a two-edged sword. One of the basic ideas of Fallout and Elder Scrolls always was, that the hero had NO real personality and backstory. He was a "stranger", a mere "wanderer" so in our imagination, he could be anyone. The more defined the backstory of the character is, the less "me" I can project into him, because suddenly he is no longer "me in Fallout", but some dude I follow.
My wishes would rather be:
- big world: Fallout needs to be vast, so I can put many months into exploring it all
- a better design, more akin to New Vegas than F3
- maybe some places or groups you belong to, like in Skyrim; in Fallout I never felt like I belong to a group, I was a bit too much disconnected and on my own; maybe built our own town over time?
I totally DON'T get why some people don't like the graphics. I thought they looked cool. *shrug* Besides, I do not want to buy a NASA computer to be able to run it.
Finally: I don't dig the Witcher 3 hype. I don't like the idea to play a so much defined character, like Geralt the Witcher. He just isn't me. I prefer RPGs where I am a random stranger, not replaying such a preset personality like Geralt. Just not my thing.

Surprised you didn't mention combat, because that is my biggest pet peeve with the series. (Eventough I completed everything in Fallout 3 even 100% map discovery)
Agree with most of the article except "Better Looking Characters" I am a bit tired of creating good looking toons. You want good looking? Play Tera or Angels or any other number of sexualized games. This is fallout, it's gritty it's desperation, I want toons with character, not necessarily good looks.
Upgraded graphics is a different story, would love to see that. Really hoping Bethesda hits a home run with this game.
Something to look forward to I guess but I didnt really care for the combat either on the series so far didnt play that much at any given time just took my time I enjoyed the fallout series in turn base I really did enjoy the old ones much better. Fallout Tactics still my favorite of the lot.
Keep doing anything and everything that pisses off the nomutantsallowed rejects and the rest of the "FO1 and 2 were the best cuz. duh!" crowd.
DO NOT ADD NO MUTHA FUCKIN' MULTI-PLAYER OF ANY DAMN KIND!!!!!!!!. PERIOD.
That's all I need to enjoy FO4. Everything else is pie.
I can not share this notion. Obsidian's New Vegas was much better than F3. I always thought they are mor capable than most other companies when it comes to RPGs.

I loved Fallout Tactics. I played it hundred of times... There was always the feeling that this world was "over". I liked the travelling encounters, as well as the story missions. I dont remember so much of fallout 3, I played it only once.
Fallout 1 & 2 (was not my kind of games when I was that young)
In fact it is Fallout Tactics that got me to discover the fallout univers..
What I'd like to see on 4 is:
First of all:
-Please! Do NOT code this game for console, and then adapt it for PC gamers. Please!
Code it as PC Gamers and only then adapt it for console!
And then:
-The feeling that we are really about to game over this world
I've read above "even if you kill 90% of population ... ... "
In the case of a n apocalypse, if I killed only 90% of a population, I would estimate this as a MESS.
1% is acceptable...
-Survival aproach (have to feed, drink, and trade for food)
-No zombies, pleaaaaaase. Mutants, OK. but no Zombies!!
I would like to see a large world with multiple cities, that each of them have their local stories. But travelling from one to the other should take a lot of time, and has to be considered as an expedition.
So that we can stay and try to help localy the survivors for a while and not have to travel all around the cities to do missions like "someone from there has a bottle of whiskey, bring it to me"
But more like dynamic events, for example: some town has problem with some local bad guys who are attacking regularly. So if we stay a while in that town, we may assist to defend it.
Or robot attacks, or mutant attacks...
I think bringing survival mode in the game, would allow to also bring more dynamic events.
Create a main, or two main story lines, and let the rest to be created randomly with scripted events etc...
Finally most of all: REAL RPG character building.
In fallout tactics (same way as in fallout 1 and 2), 2 toons could be totally differents event if they was using the same weapon.
Sorry, my english is not good enough to explain exactly what I want to say.
Thank for asking us what we would love to see in fallout 4.
wow the pre-order is like £50 on steam.. what is it with AAA game companies this year trying to charge silly prices for games.. Looking forward to Fallout 4 but I will not be paying silly money for it..
It is pre-order, they dont demand it. You have the choice not to pay. Why whine about it.
Also, @HSparty. Spot on with "coding for console. Port for pc later". I hate when devs to this. But I think they would do the skyrim approach nonetheless.
On a more entertaining note , Fallout 4 is already among the best selling (atm, not over time ofc) games on Steam. Preorder mania. No preorder bonus known yet, no release date known yet, no gameplay seen yet, we barely know anything about it atm. LOL

$104AUD for a game that i don't even know if i will get before 2017..
Kinda hard to justify a pre-order personally.

Wasteland 2 was the best game I have played in many years, and it sold a lot of copies, showing a game in the style of fallout 2 can still work.
I read somewhere they might make it a bit more like fallout 1-2 where there is a "birdperspective" playmode instead of first and third person like fallout 3 and NV.
Originally posted by SalmonMan Not being restricted to only playing a dude like I've seen mentioned. Please no Bethesda - you are not Ubisoft.

I'm hoping they go with a more stylized graphical style. The trailer gives a little hint that they might be doing this, but I don't want to read too much into it. It certainly looks a LOT more colorful that FO3 or FO:NV though. That will certainly be something worth looking at. :-)

More fallout 2, less fallout 3.
Wasteland 2 was the best game I have played in many years, and it sold a lot of copies, showing a game in the style of fallout 2 can still work.
A more brutal, and character driven campaign for me. FO1 have this option, you can go through the campaign with speech only.
Also, no more half-assed crafting. Shish-kebab? Really?
I loved Fallout Tactics. I played it hundred of times... There was always the feeling that this world was "over". I liked the travelling encounters, as well as the story missions. I dont remember so much of fallout 3, I played it only once.
