Even if the Live Events Team(LET) ends up having to take a walk on MxO the story goes on. The Wachowski brothers are still going to get final say in what happens as part of the story. Chadwick has already written the first year and I doubt that it will change much if SOE takes control.
The idea of a live team in the context of MXO is just a way of marketing a game that lacks the facility to convey content to players on it's own. How much does it really take to press hotkeys in order to deliver a scripted speach? That being said, the LET at monolith is hardly irreplaceable and who is the say that SOE can't do that same button pressing just as well or better. SOE has many years more experience at this point than WBIE/monolith, they'll just have to accept that not everyone can be a smash mmo success like Blizzard.
Anyone that violently objects to this move can find peace knowing that SOE will likely implement a way to cancel your account online instead of over the phone.
Glad I didnt get MxO, that's all I have to say to this news.
---------------------------------- MMOs Retired From: Earth and Beyond, Project Entropia, There, A Tale in the Desert, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Eve Online, City of Heroes/Villains.
None of this really matters as MxO wasn't going to last super long anyways. The only thing this may do is breath a little life into the game if SOE adds it to the station pass.
i was reading the MxO thread on there sight i really feel for them some understand the hell thats about to be put on them some dont. after all we are talking about the devs that for going on 3 months now cant figure out how to remove a tent from a bar.(sad) or ooo a power is messed up what we do um hey lets turn it off wooo or who can forget hotfix then hotfix to fix the hotfix. lol err jus had a shiver go down my spine lol
Looks like the"Grind-movie cash in-mmorpg" category is already too bloated.
MEO was very uninspiring. I doubt SOE will make the game worse but they won't make it better either. Finally it seems that mmorpg players are waking up and demanding more than the grind. DDO and LOTR be warned...
Originally posted by doobster The last thing SoE needs is a half-assed EQ clone, based off of a good movie franchise.
The game is based off the 3 movies by the Wychovski brothers. Who in turn STOLE the idea from a screenplay a woman wrote. (She later sued them blind).
The woman (along with the Wychovski brothers) took the idea from the 5 Matrix books written by a famous author. He wrote all 5 books as a work of non-fiction.
The links to the 5th Matrix book are at the top right side of the page. Because he says it is all real, he did not use his real name, and does not want any attention on him. So it makes it easier for others to make money off his books by making movies based on roughly 5% of his books.
The five Matrix books are in turn based on old, old, esoteric knowledge. In other words, the idea of the matrix, is thousands, to hundreds of thousands, to millions, to billions, of years old. (Upright, "modern" humans have been on this planet for millions to billions of years. But I would be taking this thread too off subject by listing all the proof. Google "Piri Reis Map" for starters.) One example is the fact that Douglas Adams in his book "Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" talks about the matrix. He wrote his book in the 1970's. The current movie about it is a NICE movie, but does not have enough time to touch on everything in the book. He presented his material as a comedy to divert attention from the possiblitly that it is real, might be real.
If SONY does get the MXO mmorpg, then forget it, MXO is - in the words of General Grevious from "Revenge of the Sith)..... - "....DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!!" SONY is already too bloated. But hey, if MxO fails, SONY has enough fat to asorb the loss. Simular to how MicroCrap.... errr... MicroSoft had enough fat to asorb the loss of 2 failed mmorpgs.

Originally posted by remyburke all 3 movies are awesome IMO. the first will always be the best because it's the classic "Average guy becomes superman". You can't recapture that in all 3 movies, they had a story to tell, and they told it well. If you watch all 3 together in order it flows with the best of them.
Everyone in the first movie, and last 2 movies were all "Superman". Neo was more like the "Beyonder". If you do not know who the Beyonder is, ask any Marvel Comic fan who read Marvel Comics in the 1980's.
No longer a rumor SOE has released their official statement about the "acquisition" of The Matrix Online and WBIE's in progress DC comics MMO. NPD has also reported that mxo only sold 43100 units that puts them in the range of a game like Second Life in terms of subscribers after attrition.

It still add to the value of their all access pass. They may start considering the ''partial access pass'' for a few $ less, you pick only a few games (like 3 games), or keep the all access pass for a few dollar more(1 or 2$ more)...it all come down to giving choices to the customers.
Marketing wise, it is prolly a good move. No idea on the tech side if they can afford to run 1 more game choice.
DC rights is worth MORE then MxO.

I didn't care for MxO but if i'm already paying for 6 games i dont play from SOE why not 1 more!
I wish someone would talk them into buying the rights to Earth and Beyond!
Make a difference!
it is a sad news if soe bought over mxo.
