Details of the next expansion were leaked a couple of weeks ago.. the source was the same guy who leaked the details of WoD like 2 months before it was announced.
Zul and Azshara are the main villains.
After the last defeat Zul has asked Rastakhan for more support, but Rastakhan has lost the confidence in Zul and refuses support. In a big coup, Zul has Rastakhan assassinated and assumes control of the Zandalari.
The Zandalari trolls ally with the naga, whose goal it is to flood the continents and raise the ocean level.
The big focus of the expansion will be on night elves and trolls, with Malfurion and Vol'jin being the main heroes.
This is Vo'jin's big opportunity to prove himself as the warchief of the Horde.
A big emphasis will be on Vol'jin's loyalty to the Horde, despite the opportunity to be part of a newly risen troll empire. His story will be about resisting the temptation to join the Zandalari and stay with his family.
This is the South Seas expansion that so many players want.
New class will be Shadowstalker.
Trolls, Blood Elves, Orcs, Goblins, Forsaken, Humans, Dwarves, Worgen, Night Elves and Gnomes will be able to be this class.
The class will be a ranged class that uses bows, crossbows and guns, and it will have a heavier focus on magic attacks.
Specs are Dark Ranger, Spirit Mending and Shadow Hunter. Dark Ranger and Shadow Hunter are dps specs and Spirit Mending is a healing spec.
New Shadowstalkers will start at level 1, but players who buy The Dark Prophet will be able to create 1 Shadowstalker character at level 100.
New levelcap will be 110.
The expansion will have 8 zones.
The Valarian Depths, Zandalar, Kul Tiras, Kezan, Tel'Abim, Plunder Isle, The Rift and Broken Isles.
The two starting zones will be The Valarian Depths and Zandalar.
The Valarian Depths are an underwater zone with naga, similar to Vashj'ir, but smaller. It serves as the intro to the storyline revolving around the naga. The story in this zone deals with Ozumat and the kidnapped Neptulon.
Zandalar used to be the capital of the Zandalari, before it was destroyed in the Cataclysm. This zone is completely ruined. Players will get here and figure out what happened to the trolls, and what they are up to.
After the starting zone players in each zone will board a ship that will lead them to either Kul Tiras for the Alliance or Kezan for the Horde. These zones will serve as the capitals for the factions, Players will get their own ship here, which they will use to travel around the islands. Around the capitals there will also be some questing.
Tel'Abim is a tropical paradise. A group of peaceful trolls, the Sunspear tribe, live here. The zone is mostly light-hearted. Players have to help the Sunspear tribe against a new pygmy-like race that is giving them trouble.
Plunder Isle is a pirate island. Here people can recruit pirates for their crew.
The Rift will be the first of two endgame zones. Here lies the naga city of Nazjatar.
The Broken Isles are a group of islands, and it is the second endgame zone, that is overrun by a mix of troll and naga forces. Here the naga and trolls are going through the ruins of the Tomb of Sargeras in search for powerful artifacts. The Tomb of Sargeras will be a dungeon.
Players will not only be able to travel with their ship from island to island, but also be able to explore the open seas and hidden islands. They will be able to recruit a crew of pirates. Depending on what pirates you pick, they will contribute in different ways to your ship. For example you can get a cook for your ship, which will unlock exclusive cooking recipes and who will be able to cook for you. Other pirates might contribute with different abilities, like professions or as a barber on your ship, or by offering rare quests.
Blizzard returns to creating multiple dungeons per zone. Expect about 2-3 dungeons in most zones.
Also, they said in a dev interview a couple of months back that they are moving away from bigger more content filled expansion packs instead aiming towards more frequent (yearly) expansion packs with only 1 major content patch in them.
That coupled with the fact that they're basing the expansion around the zandalari which basically lets them reuse old assets from "rise of the zandalari" leads me to believe the next expansion pack should be cheap and nasty and underwhelming to say that least....
If this is where their development is headed and they still want to charge full price for expansion packs... i'll be saying good bye for good.
The only thing that interests me is this time walking to old dungeons. If they made scaling applicable to all expacs and dungeons that would be awesome.
If they made a version of arena and BGs that were gear leveled across all players I would be tempted.
Originally posted by NightHaveN What I would like to see.. Another failed expansion and the game burried for good... That will bring 2 things: * The push to start something new. * Those players will either exit the MMO market or move somewhere else.
keep hoping that WoW dies like the typical hater. Blizzard would have to release WoW 2 in order to kill WOW thats the only way it will happen.
and heres the kicker ... WoW 2 will STILL not have open PVP except on specific servers, player looting, completely player driven economy and other sandbox elements. because the reality is open PVP full loot sandbox games don't sell.
They need the old talent system in place with hundred(s) of points to spend in 3 specialization specific trees + a general class tree.Overhaul the secondary stats (again) to create more opportunity for diversification.Bring back reforging and lots of gemming.Bring back more enchantment slots.Bring back raid attunements.Give us class specific quest lines.Definitely remove garrisons/shipyards and overhaul crafting (again) to to build customized gear, focusing on open world collection and exploration not raid-locked materials.Give us a single quest arc (story) per zone, no new zones, update entirety of Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdoms to reflect post Cata/MoP/WoD world.Public events.Lower quest XP and rewards.Improved vendor bought items & crafted gear.Increase kill XP dramatically.Open world "dungeons" with solo/group areas.New 1-100 zone/quest progression through remade Azeroth. No level cap increase.New AA system for max level characters, including ability morphing. Expect more epicness - oversized shoulderpads with giant active volcanoes on each so you don't ever get cold, but don't mind the fact that they make your character feel like they have glaucoma.
I would love to see giant active volcano shoulderpads with a 40 man raid in them!
Agree with many above ... and remove that disgusting abomination of "new models", I'm still playing with old. We all wanted more detailed models, not completely different faces.

You've thought this out quite well, however toss in updated graphic engine and it is probably easier to create a whole new game, rather than roll back on the old one.
Well basically yes.
WoW needs to die, and by die I mean go F2P with limited support/new content to pave the way for WoW 2.
And to whomever said I want WoWESO - ESO has some good ideas and systems in the game, for sure!

What I really want is GUILDWOWESOWARHAMMER2.
Nopers!!! I really don't think it's that easy. If WoW ever went F2P, WoW 2 would suffer a horrible, horrible death. WoW is probably the best performing 10 year-old engine out there
I do agree they need to do something, but I'm not convinced that a WoW 2 solves anything, either.
A wow 2(and let's say you can carry over your achievment records) would provide a blank canvas to design out the crap for e.g a proper seperation of pvp and pve skills and gear to allow a lot of variation in builds,, housing like wildstar, dyes, much more advanced gear combinations and styling.
There is no limit to what could be done with no baggage and a billion + revenue base.
To say nothing could be created with this kind of money indicates no imagination, greed or alternative motives - fear of loss of perceived status etc.
The simple truth is however greed, blizz can make more profit doing nothing
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
I would personally like to see Blizzard figure a way to balance questing so the zones actually last you from say 90-92 instead of you being halfway through the zone and level 93. I'd like to see dungeons unlocked by quest progression instead of being available straight away when you reach the level requirement. I think to do the dungeon, you should be required to complete the storyline leading up to the content within. I'd like to see raid attunement come back. I'd like to see more zones like timeless isle. Tanaan is a feeble comparison. I'd like to see stories that make sense and don't raise questions about why thigs are happening (time-travel really Blizz?). I'd like to also see story content that is WoW lore material. I'd like to see epic villains like the ich King and that make apperances throughout the expnasion in meaningful ways, either through zone phasing or confrontations. I'd like to see dynamic events, a new class and race, more challenging content in leveling. I'd like to see bigger patches that have multiple 5 man dungeons next to raiding, PVP, and other PVE content. I'd like to see more thoughtful and detailed zones that aren't completely overrun with mobs that have ridiculously high spawn rates and mob numbers. NO GARRISONS EVER AGAIN. I'd like to see a new capital city for this expansion, no flying in this expansion. I'd like to see raid finder nixed completely in my opinion but that will never happen. I'd like to see timewalking for all previously released content with scaled difficulty to level (one plus of time-travel i guess). The other stuff like upated graphics and combat should be saved for a WoW 2 if that ever happens. I'm happy with all of that currently.
I get tired of grinding new factions for once let factions continue. The game was awesome up wotlk but after that it went down hill. I really enjoyed playing my rogue back then, all these changes I just didnt like The old system was way better All these last expansion were an extremely time sinker I agree with Badspock .
I quit WoW before WoD because the garrison concept seamed like a bad idea and it was the main focus of the exp.
But one of the "leaks" I saw recently said they were going to use the garrison tech to create customizible ships that you could sail around the South Seas. That's a concept I could get behind.
They need the old talent system in place with hundred(s) of points to spend in 3 specialization specific trees + a general class tree.
Overhaul the secondary stats (again) to create more opportunity for diversification.
Bring back reforging and lots of gemming.
Bring back more enchantment slots.
Bring back raid attunements.
Give us class specific quest lines.
Definitely remove garrisons/shipyards and overhaul crafting (again) to to build customized gear, focusing on open world collection and exploration not raid-locked materials.
Give us a single quest arc (story) per zone, no new zones, update entirety of Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdoms to reflect post Cata/MoP/WoD world.
Public events.
Lower quest XP and rewards.
Improved vendor bought items & crafted gear.
Increase kill XP dramatically.
Open world "dungeons" with solo/group areas.
New 1-100 zone/quest progression through remade Azeroth.
No level cap increase.
New AA system for max level characters, including ability morphing.
Level 100 upscaled versions of current Azeroth zones, filled with public events, a single, well told quest chain.
More new & remade dungeons.
Apprenticing system.
Old Northrend, Azeroth, Pandaria, Outland, Draenor accessible via Caverns of Time.
New class & new races.
Lower end gems, enchantments seeded on AH to fight inflation.
NO FLYING.
Diversify abilities, core class skills vs. specialization skills & racial skills.
Much fewer total skill count, yet far more diverse per class/specialization, with previously mentioned skill morph system tied into max level AA progression.
New combat system - more active/reactive, less in combat healing, more active dodging/interrupting required, new defensive skills and counter system for all classes, greatly reduced player & NPC/mob health pools, increased damage (less hit-trading, more avoid/counter or get wrecked.)
I could go on and on...
So basically, you want WoWESO....
Why do people look at features and immediately have the urge to plug in other games. People don't seem to understand that its the implementation of features that define the game not the features themselves. Stop generalizing and learn to specialize, you will see the world in a whole new light.
The WoW -factor has died a little more with every expansion. A few weeks ago I went back after being gone a few months to find that every last alliance raid guild has left kil'jaedan or died. What was once a thriving day one launch PVP server is now a horde server with 200 active horde guilds and 0 alliance. This didn't happen overnight, it has been an ongoing process for years. After all this time not a damn thing has been done to improve that situation. I could have transfer servers or started over somewhere else but I refuse to pay $200 for a mass transfer and I refuse to abandon avatars I have spent thousands of hours on. I think it is outrageous that perhaps the most financially successful game of all time made by one of the most talented game developers can fail so completely. I am outraged that they have defiled their original vision and destroyed what was once a great game. They could have never released a single expansion and only lackluster updates and WoW would have been in a far better state than it is now.
I was never a blizzard hater, and they have provided some of the best gaming experiences I have ever had, but what they have done with wow is an outrage. Blizzards failure to address fundamental issues, their mounting corporate greed, their slow development cycles, there outdated business model, their poor design decisions are a few of the main reasons why WoW is now dead to me.
I do not believe Blizzard has the will, the vision or the balls to make even 1/10th of the necessary changes to take WoW back to the level it was in 7 or 8 years ago let alone take MMO gaming to the next level. Although I will always be thankful for my formative MMO experiences and for the great boom in MMO creation WoW inspired by its incredible financial success.
It doesn't matter what we want from Blizzard, or at least not until it's too late for them or us.
A lot of people wanted flying...well they gave it to them, but not before they decided to say,"You can have it, we just want you to know that another xpac is coming out soon"
A lot of people wanted more content... they got Tannan Jungle.
Don't get anyone in here started on PvP. The sorry state of PvP is probably, if not the biggest, reason PvP-competitive people don't take it serious anymore.
I know people who have gone 7+ times glad and they just cant deal with it anymore. They consider Rocket League to be a better PvP experience than WoW's. If that isn't saying or basically asking without asking for better PvP balance I don't know what is.
For me it was a good run. I left the legacy of WoW behind me with the better memories. If I had continued playing WoD I think that those memories would have been soiled. Cool story, terrible PvP, not enough end game content.
You've thought this out quite well, however toss in updated graphic engine and it is probably easier to create a whole new game, rather than roll back on the old one.

What we want to see: A huge amount of endgame content.
What we don't want to see: Anything else.
P.S Delete panda's
So basically just WoD at sea.
I was hoping for some new playable races like Ogres/Furbogs/Quilboars.
Something I'm already POd about:
Being forced to PvP to complete a quest chain. For those who like it, fine, but I don't, and for Blizzard to force me into it was a game-leaver.
