    So what is it now:

Is it the exact Release EQ2 version with the same mobs and damage rates? Or just a rehash of EQ2 old content but with tweaks added?

Though there is still all the pre expantions zones you could play through utterly void of life... whats the point?

'WoW clone'... C'mon guy, both games were in development at the same time, one didn't clone the other. Both were simply a product of the fashionable thinking at the time in the closed echo chamber of the US dev community. EQ2 didn't 'clone' anything, anymore then WoW 'cloned' EQ.

Which themepark bad habits do you think it's picked up since launch? It's hard to discuss such vague statements.

I will also argue that the current zones are 'void of life'... That's another one of the hyperbolic statements you seem fond of. Define what you mean?

I only ask because I have't experienced this at all. It seems full of character and charm to me as a game. You seem to be slinging a lot of bitter mud here for some reason, hoping that some of it sticks.

As far as I know. Vitality pots are useless. Unless you play hardcore and many hours each day and burn through accumulated vitality.

Even on Live servers I never had any use of Vitality potions, not even back in the days I could play 4+ hours in one stretch.

All these vitality pots do is replenishing your vitality (aka 200% XP rate), which you naturally replenish overnight when logging off.

Also, where do you get this 700% from? It has never been 700%. Always been 200%.

Only during double XP weekends, you got the 200% server bonus added, totaling it to 400% if you had vitality.

Then you have the veteran reward XP bonus pots that can add 50% or 100% timed bonus. Those have been in EQ2 since god knows how long.

But /claim rewards are disabled on TLE.

I actually wish folks would read the threads they are joining more... Especially short ones like this is right now. Listening is more important than broadcasting and it gets boring rehashing the same points because someone can't be bothered.

Besides that, sometimes it isn't nostalgia, y'know? Sometimes it is a genuine preference for a past design philosophy and the type of play and community it develops.

It's about 8 bucks a potion and if you use two a day for like 8 hours that is $16. That 's a lot to spend daily. Not worth it even I played a few hours just now but just my daily log offs gave me enough to gain the experience I need. I am about 19 tradeskill and 14 adventurer. It's slow yes but I can live with that.

Too bad their customer service sucks, I put in a ticket 3 days ago because their password reset is not working and haven't heard a peep back.

Vitality is 200% not 700%, just fyi. At least it is on modern servers, idk about TLS.

But it does stack with other experience boosts. What I am unsure is whether it is additive or multiplicative. Most likely the latter because almost everything in EQ2 is in that form. Which is more than fine because additive additions are deceptively simpler and only sound so-in order to implement them and balance them and etc, you need much more time and resources than with multiplicative systems.

As for muke, it is mostly rehashed so you could level slower and be forced to group. Also some things are locked like AAs(I believe they are), mercs etc. But it is a far cry from release EQ2.

Iv tested the rate it is 700% on the TLE server, dbg likes to sneak shit in with out telling anyone they even turned off being able to see the numbers of exp you get to "you gain experience" or at least i cant find out how to turn it on in the TLE my guess is it was so people wouldnt catch on to how fast you really are leveling. Ill just say this with 10% reseted i went from 11-13 within about 20 kills of lv 17 ^^^ mobs so about 10m a level now if i used a pot and had 100% i could have milked 15-20 levels unless these pots start to deminish the higher level you get... After digging a little more a popular thing that is going on is people are leveling alts to lv4 to start charging their rested and just taking turns each day playing these alts and using the reseted up. Apparently it takes 8 days for a full bar of reseted so with 8 alts you could start playing full reseted chars one a day after the 8th day and within about a months and a week ish you should have eight level 50s and all trade skills as well because you get vitality for trade skills too and its totally seperate...

So yea this is really just a rehash of the game with milking schemes in place if youre looks for the old school game like i was your gonna be disapointed even the main cities are the new updated versions of them selfs.

You have to be seriously committed to an eleven year old game to even do this. What percentage of the population even bothers with this. What possible benefit does it net you to even consider this boring workaround ? I mean come on this game has what 4k people or slightly more on the server and you really think a majority are this dumb about a game to make this sort of investment of time and effort all the hopes of what .... voting and being top dawg in the next expansion. Please read what you wrote ....

This is what people are doing, all im really trying to say is this truly isnt a classic experience and to stay away if that is what your are looking for in it. They fooled me and im butthurt about it, i finally thought we might have a winner for some true fun of how things use to be. But its just a milking so pull your titties out!

Wish I would have read this before I gave them my $15. Already max level people on the server, heard the first 50 took 4 days. Def not old school. One day we will get our MMO.

Unless people cheated or played 24 hours rotating the character among a few players there is no way anyone can make it in 4 days. I can barely make a level a day now. I play about 4 hours sometimes 5 and I craft, harvest and level. I cannot understand how anyone can level that fast.

You can believe whatever you want or do not let what others tell you or what you read in general chat and test it out for yourself. If you want to spend $8 -$9 bucks for a potion that adds vitality that is entirely up to you. Or you could just play the game and see for yourself what progress or enjoyment you get.

Every experience can be simply ruined by just reading and believing every  thing people exaggerate on a topic they might simply want to tarnish or ruin it for others . The only way you can be certain is experience the game for yourself and play it the way you want without worrying what everyone else is up to. Since you paid the $15 why don't you just try it and check the experience gain and decide without outside influence.

The ONLY 2 complaints i have and for me that is really saying something are 1 mount speed is stupid slow,i can sprint faster than a mount.Whomever thought that was a plausible idea needs to get out of game design.

2 I get at least 2 game crashes a day and every time it is the same reason,i am doing nothing but moving across the screen, not casting not fighting not doing anything but running or clicking the ground. It is the most odd game crash i have ever seen in my life but hey this is SOE,you can change the logo but it is still the buggiest operation on the planet.

I am going to assume that it is still memory leaks like it has always been with this game and since i leave my game on even when not playing it really adds up.

On a side note,i almost fainted when some GM came on and said "we are looking into the lag everyone is experiencing"  ROFLMAO.I guess he never go the memo that EQ2 has lagged since day 1 and you could tell even Brad used the same architecture for VG because that lagged almost identical.I will go on a limb and claim the exact same will happen in EQNext.

They need to get some new networking people and change their game engine in a big way.

Aside from those two complaints the game is rather fun to play.I am currently enjoying Necromancer, very strong pet.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I have never played EQ2 before but I am looking for a classic type game. I am sick of all the solo MMO's so I gave this a shot. Here are my early thoughts:

There are alot more players around than I expected.

The graphics aren't as bad as I thought they would be.

I love all the class choices and the fact that they have support classes. I am playing illusionist which is a Crowd control class ,love it. Wish more games had more than just heals, dps, tank

I am only level 7 so still in the solo mode, but I have died a few times trying to kill level 10 mobs. Wish the death penalty was greater. Actually there doesnt seem to be any death penalty. Maybe at higher level?

I am a crafter at heart, so just started crafting. Seems really complicated. I have no idea what is going on. May have to read up on it. Seems like it is very time consuming, not sure if it is worth it.

At low levels the xp comes fast and leveling doesn't seem any harder than any other game.

So I am really enjoying the game. If the dungeons are fun and challenging I maybe playing this game for a long time. If they are face roll and there isn't much more group play than I won't resub. Either way it was worth my $15

Game runs great for me, get a new PC or upgrade some parts.  Turn off some stuff in graphics options.  Basically see if the issue is on your end before blaming the game.  Might take some research on your part.

I'ts been a long time for me not to bitch about an mmo, but I'm really enjoying EQ2 TLServer.

It's an old school mmo and I'm an old schooler. BUT PUTTING THAT ASIDE,  it's the only game right now that's an mmo and that should be for any ones standards......All else are abominations.

Sadly, new people to mmos don't know what they could have had because mmos moved away from the standard.  In other words " Old school " shouldn't have ever been branded it's name of a type of mmo, it should be the only way mmos should have been made, but more evolved.

All the crap made as of late aren't mmos they are something else that I can't even give them a name.

Everyone knows EQ 2 was an unoptimised mess at launch. Also it's almost impossible to have a PC not powerful enough to run the game. The game is freaking 12 years old and required single core CPU.

EQ2 doesn't seem to play well with modern CPUs, from what I understand if you have 4+ cores tough, the game is shit at multicore support.

If he's PC is from the last 3-4 years its virtually impossible to not be able to run the game.

A few things I have done to help in spite of the fact that my computer is relatively new is to turn off anti-aliasing and set my FPS at 50-60. This has really improved it esp the anti-aliasing I was getting that turn lag where you suddenly get a massive drop in FPS when you turn. After I shut off anti-aliasing it stopped.

    https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq2/index.php?threads/guide-to-optimizing-display-performance-rebooted.547049/

Check the above thread for some optimization and log off to desktop periodically. I do it every hour or so.

From before when I played at launch I could barely run the game with everything turned to around med and high ,forget ultra and high everything then. Yes their engine sucks and I don't think they managed in all this time to fix it but our computers have gotten way better so now we can run it at high and ultra but I don't push it on some of the settings I keep it down still.
