July 3, 2005: It's 3:00. I havn't written in a while because I was enjoying myself too much to do this (not only with this game). I just got back from the beach and decided to write in my journal. Well, I'm level 19 now, and the leveling is getting easier. I finished a lot of the quests and I have gotten really far in the map, but I still have a long way to go. I found myself backtracking a bit so I could get some quick xp from previous quests I didn't do. Yesterday I found one the rarest things ever: black dye. This is worth about 4.5k, and it is very hard to find. I sold that and now I have just over 22k. Aparently, I am a very good saver (money wise), because so many people are poor in this game. I don't see how one can become so poor, because it is very easy to make money. I might even make a little money saving guide, who knows. Until then, later. I'll write again soon.

July 4, 2005: It's 10:42. I have just experienced PvP, and I am speechless. It is simply amazing. It is both fun, thought provoking and rewarding. It goes like this: you enter an arena from one of the main cities. Some arenas have level limits (only the first one I think). Once your in the arena, you can choose to enter the mission (or fight). It automatically sets you up with other players (the number depends on the arena). You get to fight another group, and there are different types of matches. I've only been in two (fight to the death and see how many players you can kill). Fight to the death is where you have to kill the other team to win. The other one is where you have to kill the other team, and how many people your team kills is counted, and then the dead are automatically resurected. There is a time limit on this one. Overall, PvP is a great part of the game, and I simply love it.

You are entitled to your opinion, but please refrain from flaming in this topic. If you don't like the game, it's fine, I prefer having less people play the game who enjoy it rather than having a whole bunch of people playing it who hate it and will flame it. That is where rumours of bad community started. Thank you for not playing my game!

July 6, 2005: It's 12:27. I havn't played GW today, yet. I did play last night, and I did a lot. I enhanced my equiptment, and I still have plans for that in the future. I was surpirsed to see how quickly I spent my money, from 22k to 4k in a few days. All this money spend on equiptment and such, but I still need to buy more stuff. I made some mistakes which can be fixed with more money, such as using minor runes instead of superior. I'm looking for good places to farm, and I hear Reed Bog is a good one, so I can try there. The hard work is about to start...

July 9, 2005: It's 9:42. Yesterday I started a new warrior/monk (Lord Forwan). I think it's going very well with this character, but he's costing me all of my money (I only have about 300 gold left). I don't feel like adding this to the list of things I like, but I really like the fact that you share storage with all of your characters. This was extremely handy for me today because I was trying to transfer stuff from my elementalist to my warrior, but no one was online to help me, and then I opened my storage account with my warrior and found out that it is shared with my other characters and got my stuff transfered quickly (wow that was a long story). I love playing w/mo, it is so fun, and I am finding best use for my skills, making my warrior godly. I chose to use swords, and I already got a max fiery sword (is that the best one?), a max round shield (do they have mods for shields?), and my full ascalon armor. I feel so elite, I can't wait to start pvping with him. When I get to lvl 10, I'll go to the ascalon arena and if I'm any good. As for my e/mo, I havn't been playing much of him since I started my w/mo (it is very refreshing to start a new character). My ranger isn't getting a lot of attention either because I seem to have lost interest in him. I'm very eager to go play my warrior now, so toodles!

At this point in the game what would you summerize as your likes and dislikes?

Does not being able to go over cliffs or swim ever bug you much?

Well, the short answer is no, it doesn't bother me. I played WoW, and I thought that the jumping was pretty cool, and so was the swimming. But, in GW, you can still go in the water, just not swim, and not being able to jump isn't such a big deal. There isn't anything that I dislike about the game anymore, parties are getting better, and I have learned to use the henchmen very successfully.

First, lightning13, you've been keeping a decent diary which may be helpful for many people who are interested in GuildWars, but haven't decided to buy the game yet. I was one of that kind of people and this objective diary(I can say objective - cause it doesn't overstate the game, not underrate it either) prompted me to buy the game, it accelerated decision process. Keep it up!

I wish I would only track this diary without a comment, as every comment seems to interrupt it a bit according to me. But as far as I can see, some flamers want to ruin all this topic. Please WoW fanboys, keep away from this thread, I'm requesting. Especially grinni..You seem to register in this forum so as to flame this game and ruin this diary. Please get a life and don't touch this game. I also like World of Warcraft, watching its videos over and over again. I plan to get it too when I sort out my funds. But I haven't flamed the game in your forums yet and I will never be flaming it in the future either. So grow up and put a quick end to this WoW Fanboy Invasion in GuildWars forums..

    Best Regards

July 12, 2005: Well, I've been playing my warrior since I made him, only switching to my ele a few times (mostly for farming). I love playing my w/mo, its so damn fun, although it is a bit hard to switch from ele skills to w/mo skills, but I'm getting the hang of it. OK, at first I decided to use swords, and I got myself a max dmg fiery dragon sword, and a max armor shield. Then, I decided to switch to hammer, because of good reason. I only put attribute points into tactics because of the shield req (i don't use healing signet that much), so then I thought if I only had to put points into hammer mastery, I could put the rest of my points in healing spells and use the uber healing powers of the monk. This was my plan, but then I found some character bulilds on the internet, so I decided to go by one of those, but add my little twist. So, NOW I'm putting attribute points into hammer mastery, strength, and healing spells. Maybe I shouldn't be giving away my plans for an elite w/mo, but whatever. Im gonna go play some GW now, peace.

    My build:
    Strength: 12 (11+rune)
    Hammer: 12 (10+helm+rune)
    Healing Spells: 10
    Tactics: 1 (thats whats left)

Hmm I've seen in one of your entrie that you said you made a mistake by buying minor rune. Well since you can replace a rune on an armure at any time( just use a new rune on the armor, the new one will replace the current one), the most you will lose by puting the minor on the armor is the 120ish gold the minor is worth. Anyway, just thought this could be helpful to you. And nice to see some people are actually taking the time to make thread about other thing then flame/bash, alway refreshing to read them.

Yeah, this is a great journal... real un-biased. Theres apparently NOTHING bad about GW at all!

I would consider that you finish or at least almost finish the missions before starting to "farm". It really helps to have elite skills and more experience on the different builds.

Also, don't get superior runes unless if you get a superior vigor. -75hp just isn't worth it.

Thanks for the tip, but I figured that out myself about a week ago. Someone should have told me earlier because what I did before was salvage the armor I made a mistake on, and then re-craft it. That was very stupid. However, I do have a question about runes. If you have to of the same runes (eg: minor rune of vigor), and you put both of them in seperate pieces of armor you are wearing, do they both take effect?
