Nice summary, I too welcomed the changes after the humblebundle month :awesome: especially the Protogames. Fragment Zero is cool too, the "escort quest" at the end is hilarious, but the Academy is a much more needed one, imo. (I think I even wrote somewhere that all games should have a similar feature...)

You'd think that nowadays, with guides everywhere, many times even with videos, everyone knows how to play in groups - and then you join a pug and reality smashes you in the face  It's not even a WS-only issue sadly (Bill has that catchphrase about pugs for a reason), so it's a good idea to give the folks who are too lazy for even watch a video some 101-level introduction about interrupts, dodges, etc.

About the storyline, yep, I noticed too that you get hints about the Nexus project right from the start, if you look hard enough and not just running ahead with leveling

Wildstar is FUN! I stopped playing it because it's too heavily reliant on guilds for my taste...but I can't wait to see what it looks like with a healthy population.

I've been subbed since the start, and have been leading a guild/raid team as well from that time. If anyone has any doubts, I'm pretty realistic in my views of the game, and will gladly answer any questions you might have!

This game was released too early, NCSoft forced Carbine. This is how it was supposed to be, I've played since launch and cannot wait to dive into lops with joy.

But will it be able to compete with GW2 f2p?

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

    Wildstar should not try it.

WildStar is in ANY way, the better MMO. Betther graphics, better movement, superior sombat, tons of content, challenging raids, best housing ever and tons of more stuff!

SWToR? G2W? Rift? Archage? Tera? you name it... there is by far no other F2P MMO on the market right now, that even comes close to the quality and features of WildStar.

I hated on this game a lot at launch for various reasons. However I look forward to the f2p to give it another spin. Hopefully the community has lightened up on the 'we are hardcore' attitude.

The game offers tons of content for casuals for several months now. What you've experienced is gone for good for a long time now. Raids are now 20m and its really easy to get attuned. The game is focused on players that are tired of dummed down content, faceroll dungeons and other toxic things that people get used too in the past few years. If you are hardcore, wildstar is still the game for you and there is still plenty of challenging stuff in the game to make you happy. If you are semi-hardcore/semi-casual, wildstar is the perfect place for you. If you are casual, wildstar now offers contracts, public events, outdoor world bosses, challenging dungeons, veteran shiphands, incredible housing system, lot of stuffs for completionists (pets, mounts and stuff).

Likr many others. I will give it a another shot after F2P launches. For the current players/vets. Is the addon "Deadlock" or something similar still available?

Good to see that now more people will be able to try Wildstar. And sadly realize, its just not good.

    Hodor!

It's definitely the best F2P MMO on the market (by a large margin). So either you are still playing dummed down content in wow or you just don't like MMO's in general.

You can now switch to "Mouse Look" via ingame Options. But i would still prefer the normal movement method.

Yes, there are a couple of addons like that, but also with Drop 6 you have the option to make it by default using game options.

Different target audiences. GW2 has non-trinity gameplay, Wildstar has trinity. Both also have different combat systems. Wildstar is more focused on themepark quest-hub gameplay also. GW2 is barely getting their first raid and f2p players won't be able to access those anyway. Wildstar focuses more on dungeons and raids, whereas GW2 does not (until HoT).

Give some reasons to back up that statement..."best F2P" is sort of like saying the "best" of the failed subscription MMO's - is that saying much?

    In today's sad market? Yes.

BEst raid content, quick content updates with meaty content in them, amazing combat system, superb housing, good character creation, rich and detailed lore, many collectibles, tons of personality. ECT, If wildstar had a brand name like WoW and FFXIV do, it would of not failed at all.

FFS, why is everything happening on Sept. 29th. Fiscal year end I take it.

I never have and never will understand the hate Wildstar received. The combat is fun, the game has a great sense of humor, the zones are detailed and interesting (and vertical!), classes are fun... on and on. There is a lot to like, not the least of which the housing/customization.

I stopped playing because my busy schedule wouldn't allow raiding, but my schedule has changed just in time for F2P and I couldn't be more excited! Hope the game is hopping again, because between Wildstar and ESO I have my MMO fix for now!
