The best part of it is the housing, not only do to its extensiveness, but also due to the fact it is a game play feature that is totally unaffected by changes in player population. The worst aspect is probably the solo questing, which is unfortunate because currency is needed to buy up construction material for housing projects.
Good to see that now more people will be able to try Wildstar. And sadly realize, its just not good.
It's definitely the best F2P MMO on the market (by a large margin).
So either you are still playing dummed down content in wow or you just don't like MMO's in general.
Give some reasons to back up that statement..."best F2P" is sort of like saying the "best" of the failed subscription MMO's - is that saying much?
BEst raid content, quick content updates with meaty content in them, amazing combat system, superb housing, good character creation, rich and detailed lore, many collectibles, tons of personality. ECT, If wildstar had a brand name like WoW and FFXIV do, it would of not failed at all.
all those reasons... is still somewhat your opinion...glad you like the game.
Well, honestly, anything someone can say about a game is always going to be that ONE persons opinion, just try it out for yourself
I wanted to like this game, on paper it looked great.
But, my biggest complaint was the starter area. Visually it was just appalling. Everything was very bright green with lots of purples and pinks and such. The coloring of the area made me feel so out of place. As if I was a grown man who accidentally logged in to a game made for 3 year olds.
So my question is, are there any other starting zones? Would I have to run through that same visual vomit before getting to more appealing areas? Or is the entire game like WoW graphically redesigned for an even younger audience?
Tried the beta that is out right now.... It's still a pass for me. I hope people enjoy the changes but this one is just geared towards a younger crowd with its graphics, animations, and bland cartoon network comedy.

try rolling Dominion instead.. but not sure how they'll look now i heard they done some changes to the starter zones.
Thank you. You were right. My original character was an Exile. I created a new Dominion toon and went to the suggested first area (not the one marked optional in quest text). Much better visually. Much more like Torchlight, which I enjoyed (1 more than 2).
WildStar is in ANY way, the better MMO. Betther graphics, better movement, superior sombat, tons of content, challenging raids, best housing ever and tons of more stuff!
SWToR? G2W? Rift? Archage? Tera? you name it... there is by far no other F2P MMO on the market right now, that even comes close to the quality and features of WildStar.
I'm a strong support of Wildstar, but GW2 carries a lot of weight too. Beautiful graphics fluid movement and combat. Also, the dungeons are very challenging considering you have no dedicated tank or healer. Both games definitely weed out the weaker players.
And both are owned by NCSoft; they may have a preference but at the end of the day they will be happy of you opt for one or the other over LotR, FFXIV, SWTOR, WoW etc. etc.
I got into the FTP Beta and was anxious to see what they did to the game since I had left. I originally purchased and subscribed but left before too long felling the game wasn't fully baked and didn't know who it wanted to appeal to. I'm not scared off by the "hardcore" label but that's not so much fun when you are playing on a deserted server...I decided it wasn't worth a monthly fee.
Anyway, all downloaded and ready to roll, I couldn't log into the beta.. After a bit of tweaking, and forcing the client to run in DX9 I was able to get up and running. (Not a good sign) I have a Sapphire R9 290X (AMD) card and recall the game was never optimized at launch for AMD cards.. Looks like that hasn't changed.
An hour or so later, I remembered what I liked. I also remembered what I didn't like but reminded myself this time around, someone wouldn't be paying a monthly sub. Even so, I haven't felt compelled to log back in. Not saying it is a bad game. It isn't but it didn't make me eager to play again.
I expect the game will enjoy more success as a FTP title but it isn't going to light the world on fire. It probably could have had it launched in a better state.
I tried Wild Star during free trial / beta could not stand the game, characters are too cartoonish, gameplay is class locked, just not the game I am looking for, but even a space game like "Tabula Rasa back in the day was decent compared to Wild Star, a game based similiar around this but in a more MMO type of MOBA Combat would be fun, but with more realistic characters, customization, and not class locked, take for example Sky Forge for example only thing is skyforge feels like it takes forever to get anywhere, and game-play itself is all instanced based not open world.------ I also knew the game would go free to play.
I am glad someone else said it. The graphics in the starting area where so 4 year old Disneyland that I was actually scared someone would see me playing it and makes some kind of comment like.. aren't you a little old to be playing a kiddie game." I have never felt like that with other games but the starting area really made me feel like that... (like throwing a con into a pink padded cell) I will give it a go because I really love Sci-Fi.

I have an AMD processor. Have they optimized or fixed this since the original beta? The game ran so badly I never bought it... I dont plan to re-install to find out "IF" they fixed it.
Does anyone know?
It's a great game, but still runs like SHIT. Unsubbed because of that, returned for the free 10 days or w/e, still shit, return for F2P CB, still shit, even with graphical downgrade.
If you don't own a rather modern i5/i7, don't bother, especially if you wanna raid. I have an FX 8350 (yes I know it ain't ideal for MMOs, but it what it is)/GTX 970 and game can go down as low as 20 fps and stuttery mess, in single player gameplay... the GPU does nothing, 20-30% utilization.
I don't intend to play WS if they can't fix this single threaded crap, even though it's a great MMO that would be just fine until WoW Legion comes out.
Wow, just saw this. Guess that answers my question.

I am very curious to see if the best raiding claim is true. Age of Conan set a very high standard for me. Will be very happy if I agree with you.
I really think they put a lot of polish into this game and it is worth giving a try. Different strokes for different folks though, the style of the graphics and the combat are definitely not for everyone. But, it is going to be free so why not try it? Also, I have deep faith their cash shop will be well done and stick mainly in the cosmetic arena (sure lock boxes, but just resist the gamble temptation).
