Being a space game fan ... *** sigh *** things that could have been, but EA turned it down ... games pitch made by Double Damage, creators of "Rebel Galaxy" (which was a fun little game with a western-style Firefly vibe).
X-Wing vs TIE fighter ... the modern version ... 2016 ,,, alas, never made

That is sad. Double sad. I guess the big bozos still haven't learned the lesson of Star Citizen. There is a huge, well heeled, body of fans, all jonesing for some space action.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

Everspace and Descent:Underground may finish (or at least launch) in 2018. That would be good news for the space game fans.

Hadn't heard of Everspace. Will keep an eye out for it. Descent was a cool game way back when, but it disoriented me too much to be personally enjoyable.

"Star Citizen" means they made an account on the homepage, presumably out of interest in Star Citizen.
Not all of them are paying backers of the crowdfunding project. The exact percentage of paying backers out of the total amount of Star Citizens is unknown. But enough to generate an amount of 176 M$ in crowdfunding.
The live release of Star Citizen Alpha 3.1 to the PU is imminent. Many thanks to our testing groups who continue to help us shore up the build and get it ready for the live push.
With an impending new release come newly flyable ships, and we have five diverse vehicles entering the 'verse in 3.1, from the imposing Reclaimer to the swift Razor.
This Sunday, and in the spirit of holiday fun, our Community team will be hosting an in-game scavenger hunt all day long on April 1st, with the lucky winners snagging Aegis Vulcans. Keep a weather eye on comm-links this weekend for all the details.
If scavenger hunts aren't for you but Aegis Vulcans are, you still have a few days to pledge for our first concept ship of the year. What's that you say? Still not sure if the Vulcan is your kind of thing? Then check out our informative Q&A with the ship's designers.
This week's Around the Verse brings our monthly Squadron 42 project update and an inside look at the way AI is being applied to ship flight and combat. You can also stay up to date on the game's development by enlisting to receive our dedicated Squadron 42 newsletter. We've expanded its format this month, with project update highlights and behind the scenes images, and we'll only continue to add more content as we get closer to release.
As the month draws to a close we see the release of another issue of Jump Point to our Subscribers, with looks at audio design, the Aegis Vulcan, and some of the flora of the Star Citizen universe. Subscribers can also tune in to see if any of their questions were answered in this month's Town Hall edition of Reverse the Verse Live.
Game Star (German gaming magazine) has a 148 page Special Issue about "Star Citizen". In German, obviously - but still worth the 9.99 Euro for the pictures and stats alone.
You also get a PDF version in addition to the paper version. And a 30 day free "Centurion" community supporter subscription (which is interesting, because that means you can download a few years worth of "Jump Point" magazines - which i can highly recommend).
Addendum:
Finally had time to look through the e-paper version of it which you get immediately. Very well done in my opinion. A TON of breathtaking in-game screenshots. Comprehensive ship database. And what i like most as an explorer ... a whole chapter of where to find the not so obvious interesting exploration sites, wrecks, criminal bases, stim labs, hidden weapons etc.
Some of the people in that photo might be dead by the time this game releases with all promised features lol
Even for your standards that's kinda low...
Thousands of backers have died while waiting for Star Citizen to release by even the most conservative mortality rate standards.

Yes I'm aware of statistics of mortality rates but it's a different thing to think about it and post about it with a mocking tone, specially when you have a picture of the human beings you are lol'ing about.
Cringewhorthy to say the least. Or maybe I just don't get goon humor.

I see they still say 1.9 million active citizens. So they are saying everyone that tried free weekends did stay and support the game?
