If you take the argument out of it and go off the original ks information it was suppose to cost less, it is already a year late, and people where already vocal before someone decided to shout louder.
I am going to assume it a mismanagement of the money.
1 They have wasted a lot of the money on redsigning the game and are low on funds.
2. They are low on money
If it's the last one then he shouldn't even being taking anything out because people have given him money to make a game, then he will then make money off it.
If someone had told me years ago people are willing to give someone money to make a game then they will make money from it, i would reply people are willing too do that, so this is where we are in gaming. lol
Yes, but it went from what was on KS to a game that can be considered on the higher end of funding (even today). Yes, there are delays and transparency is important to the backers for those delays. Chris Roberts has invited Escapist to ALL FOUR of Cloud Imperium Games's studios. This has been virtually ignored by everyone against CIG and Chris Roberts. That's called being transparent.
I agree with various other concerns. Some ideas are ambitious and feature creep in software development (especially games) can be detrimental to a project's success. However, we don't know what the actual management plan is on the allocation of funds based upon additional features/etc. This is important, and not you, Derek Smart, anyone tossing accusations, or me have access to that. All we've gotten is sources (which I believe are really ex and current employees), but not corroborative evidence.
What Derek Smart has stated as 'fact' is that these things are occurring, and he has evidence. He's lied in the past and he's lied about things with CIG & Star Citizen. He's misrepresented things with it and these can be easily pointed to.
All the additional stuff (like the project is in trouble, embezzlement, accusations of racism, discrimination, etc) are SERIOUS ACCUSATIONS. Why should we believe them without actual evidence?
My post wasn't about Derek smart.
Ok. So why are you stating things as fact like mismanagement of money or low on funding? That originated with Derek Smart; the only person that has actually came forward claiming that as fact (besides anons on forums/sites). Sure, there are 'sources', but that lacks corroborative evidence.
I just came to that conclusion from what people had posted in other threads the original game was suppose to be a lot less and it was suppose to come out last year, so they have more money and they are a year late i already explained it in another post in a more simple way.
If someone had told me years ago people are willing to give someone money to make a game then they will make money from it, i would reply people are willing too do that, so this is where we are in gaming. lol
I know what you mean. It sort of makes me feel embarrassed to be part of the generic category called "gamers" that has people in it that will do that

I think it is a fair assumption that the funds are running low. Not only do the anonymous (ex)employee sources state this, but Chris Roberts has also identified that they are restructuring US offices but increasing their workforce globally (i.e. they are laying off expensive US labour and outsourcing these roles at lower cost outside of the US).
If you take the argument out of it and go off the original ks information it was suppose to cost less, it is already a year late, and people where already vocal before someone decided to shout louder.

What we know is they are delayed. They may even be off track in terms of their budget, but they may also be low on funds or about to totally collapse in less than 90 days as Derek Smart says. However, we don't know these. All we can do is look at actual information that's provable, atm.
This involves Derek Smart, who says he has evidence, but doesn't provide it. So, if he's making the claim, but isn't provided the evidence, then we need to weigh his credibility on the matter. This is why any discussion on this type of things has to involve him since he's the current 'known' source of it.

By the way, if a supposed journalist writes a fraudulent article, they should be run out of the business immediately. But instead, people are giving The Escapist and the writer a free pass, because...?
But Chris Roberts seem to be handling this graciously. There is little else you can do when you are the target of the anti-social attack campaign. It is tremendously frustrating to deal with one of these things, because any interaction with the troll dirties you and lends legitimacy to the attack, no matter how outrageous. You can't speak in your defense without legitimizing the litany of false charges, it's just the nature of how most people's minds work.
"The truth must be somewhere in the middle" is the damning thought that many people carry as some kind of gospel to help them sort out confusing situations. But really, that thought is just the road to perdition. It is one of the primary means that narcissists and other miscreants use to trick people, to push those buttons that turn off your critical thinking. Normally we give people the benefit of the doubt. But bring in an expert button pusher and the usually decent people start calling for blood. Makes you wonder how decent they are.
All this bullshit, and for what? So that some person that can't even claim to be a developer can attach themselves to other people's projects again and remain a parasite for another 20 years?
Perennial industry outsider Derek Smart has never shipped a real working game. Yet people are pointing to the relative lack of success of one of Chris Roberts' games, Freelancer, as reason to question his abilities. Let me remind people that Chris Roberts helped to found an entire genre, and has shipped many games to astounding success. Yet here people are acting like he's a miscreant who has stolen things and misappropriated money. Who fits that description more closely? That's right, the person making the accusations, Derek Smart.
And as far as Freelancer goes, it can hardly be called a failure. Failures do not get sequels. And when it shipped, the game worked. Just because something doesn't quite measure up to your other work in people's minds does not mean it is a loss. Moreover, such an accusation coming from a proven failure means absolutely nothing.
If any good comes out of this anti-social shit storm, I hope that people learn what a sociopath is and how to avoid them. If you have never dealt with a malignant narcissist or a sociopath it is hard to understand. But we are getting a lesson right out in the open as to their methods and goals. Open your eyes and stop believing lies.

I'm telling you I know just as much about that as you do -- and both our answers is just speculation based upon incomplete information. In other words, we both could be wrong (or either or). Due to this, I can only offer up my 'opinion' based upon my knowledge and try to be as objective as possible.

I'm telling you I know just as much about that as you do -- and both our answers is just speculation based upon incomplete information. In other words, we both could be wrong. Due to this, I can only offer up my 'opinion' based upon my knowledge and try to be as objective as possible.
Well that has been posted mutliple times in different threads on this forum can't remember which ones i have read so many about all this.
What has?
Stating the game should of cost less and it's a year late. lol

Yes, it's delayed and therefore it's almost certain to be costing more than initially planned. I agree. However, then stating this means they're almost out of cash/funds, etc, is a non-sequitur. We don't know, atm. Now, it could be true, but then again their budget for that release date may have been around $65 million (if I'm mistaken) which is the last stretch goal that I had seen.
Have you factored in that they're still drawing in funds (it's not like they're stagnant) as well as, as indicated by Chris Roberts, drawing in additional funding from other sources?
So you telling me it wasn't suppose to cost less and it isn't a year late ?

By the way, if a supposed journalist writes a fraudulent article, they should be run out of the business immediately. But instead, people are giving The Escapist and the writer a free pass, because...?
Because it isn't fraudulent?
What should happen to posters who sling false accusations at journalists? Should they be run out of forums immediately?
Maybe it isn't fraudulent, but the original draft was a shit-stained piece of journalism. The slant was biased in the extreme and missing half the perspectives. The description of "hit piece" was well-deserved. Now it's been heavily edited to include more of Chris Roberts response. Well gee, that was swell of them to take care of that after the fact.
It was put up in its original form because why? Just couldn't wait, huh? If they'd given it another day then the anonymous sources would've spontaneously combusted or something? Then the managing editor steps in and says they'd given more notice than they usually would, as if that excuses their publication of a completely biased, obviously one-sided article. Well, I'm glad they cleaned it up after essentially being forced to do so or be laughed off the internet.
Well I have a different perspective:
If Chris Roberts hadn't spent the larger portion of the 24 hours he was given researching and writing a smear piece on Lizzy and just answered the questions (as he eventually did at the end of his bizarre and lengthy character assassination piece) AND if he had had the courtesy to "reply all" so that the original CC recipients, the author and editor, would have gotten his response, his reaction would have been included in the original instead of added 45 minutes later when Lizzy finally got it.

There could be a problem. How exactly does he end this conspiracy? There's a lot of reasons why releasing exact financial numbers can be detrimental to the game. However, why believe information originating from Derek Smart (who originally stated it as fact and is the only person that is claiming to have evidence of this that we known) when Chris Roberts has stated the opposite? Why is Derek Smart more credible then Chris Roberts here when Derek Smart won't produce the evidence and obviously doesn't have actual access to financial data?
By the way, if a supposed journalist writes a fraudulent article, they should be run out of the business immediately. But instead, people are giving The Escapist and the writer a free pass, because...?

While a valid perspective, I can say with confidence that if I were the one making the call I would NOT have published that article in its original form. If you would have made a different call then okay.
Whenever you ask someone for a response to a story you're going to publish that is critical of them or their company, you ALWAYS give them a deadline and stick to it because their natural inclination is to stall and try to kill the story.

Give it a rest, when the game will be released and will be considered one of the greatest game in the history, these people along with Derek "moron" Smart and escapist. will still bash RSI, CIG and SC. they just want this game to fail because RSI and CIG got so much money from crowdfunding. It is like the mentality of poor : rich has more money so they are evil.

Unless you're fishing for clickbaits or have an agenda, publishing that article to begin with should have been a no go. The claims made by 'sources' have no corroborative evidence to back them up. Now, if they were minor accusations and it wasn't a headline piece then it's probably fine. The issue is there's claims of embezzlement, discrimination, mismanagement of funds, and so forth. There should have at least been more substantial evidence other than words from employees that may be disgruntled and may even see Derek Smart's narrative as a way to hurt the company they're disgruntled towards.
I'm baffled by why people don't understand this since this is a basic part of ethics in journalism when it comes to undisclosed sources.

And you are forgetting : they might not even be employees but fakers endorsed by Derek "moron" Smart or the "moron' himself writing review on glassware. 3 of Lizzy's "sources" without any surprise told her things exactly like the "former CIG employee" reviewer in glassware.

You owe me a keyboard (I spit beer ll over this one ..Through the nose)
