I bought the 99$ pack, and i will say that you shouldn't if you're doubting it. It's only for the die-hard idiots like me who are already sure they're going to spend a few hundred hours, at least, in the game
If you're on the fence, just try and get a beta key or wait for the release. No point preordering if you're not sure you even want to play it, but that goes for any game.
First I'd like to clarify a few things as although some things people are saying are true, a lot actually isn't. Regardless of my preference of the game, its important to have the right facts first.
1/ There is no open beta. Whether this is good or bad is subjective. 2/ It is not a buggy version, it is pretty much feature complete BUT they are wanting opinions on what aspects of the game Westerners would want changed. Up to now they have listened to several changes from alpha which was not paid for. 3/ It is not f2p on the NA/EU side and the argument of 'might as well play the RU or KR versions does not apply as the game will be very different already at launch.
Now that the fact are given this is my opinion. There is a lot more than 'buying the beta'. Whilst I do not condone the practice of 'selling betas', this is not a founders pack, it is a pre-order. Playing the beta is a bonus and given to those who are willing to financially support the game. To some this seems stupid and thats fair enough - if you are one of those people then no, its not worth it for you. Everything gained from the $50 package is doubled on the $100 + you get the pearls, unique armor and T5 horse. Granted again, if you dont care about the little extras and are only interested in the beta because you want to play rather than actually give constructive info back to the devs then there is no point.

Are you sure they aren't going to do some sort of open "stress testing"? (whatever they call it). That seems a bit odd.
I do agree with your second assessment in that it's a pre-order that allows a variety of things as well as access to a closed "testing" period.
That's how I looked at it when I purchased the game as it has a lot of what I want in a game such as open world, one can grind mobs, great art design and sieges.

Personally I would never pay more than $20 for an early access situation. Your data gets wiped multiple times, you're playing a broken mess, and if you just wait you can play it for less. I literally cannot see the upside to these founders packs, I would have to be mega hyped about it. I think the only one I would get is EQN if/when that comes up but even then only probably the cheapest.
I would say play the open beta, get a feel for the model they've got in place, then you can at least attribute some value to the EA package you're considering.

I think there are games that are "broken messes" but I've never played an early access that "was" a broken mess.
I suppose that's because I look at the game beforehand and try to asses what condition it's in. To me, small indy companies are the companies that have a lot of work to do when they allow players early access. I don't really play these too often.
Then again, to answer your question of what the founders packs give people, it gives them a chance to be part of the process and to have their voices heard. For some this is a great value. This is not to say they get to remake the game but they can be instrumental in balancing, talking about mechanics or UI, etc.
For a game like Black Desert, it won't be any more of a buggy mess than the Korean version. This is not to say that there might not be translation issues or small things that need to be ironed out but from everything I've seen so far it's a pretty "done" game.
As far as one's progression getting wiped, many people don't care. I know I don't.

I don't care about progression being wiped when it's free, but i'll be damned if I'm going to pay someone for it.
Is it worth $100? I have no idea. I've watched many videos and it looks awesome. That being said, for PvE, I have some concerns, such as it basically being a soloable game to max level, but what isn't nowadays. Also, there are no dungeons that I'm aware of. Don't know a thing about PvP in this game personally, but I don't go for it often. I love home building, crafting, and things like that, which this game has in spades. All that being said, I was willing to drop the $100, but I was lucky enough to snag one of the keys from right here.

But your not paying for the beta lol! That's the bonus. If you are paying $100 LITERALLY for just a beta ever well then yes, something is seriously wrong with that.

I don't think you are looking at it in the spirit of the "event".
When you play in one of these betas it's about stressing the servers, possibly finding bugs and at least getting a feel for the game. It's not about "playing the game as if it was launched."
And again, this Black Desert cost is a pre-order that gives a variety of things AND allows one into a closed testing (stress testing/beta, whatever the heck it really is) if one wants to participate.

The question cannot be answered without knowing each individuals entertainment budget and personal preferences.
I agree with this. There's a guy who spent $10,000 on a game that's not even out yet. Ask him if it's worth it and he says yes it is. So if a $100 comes easy to you and you're interested in the game then go for it. However if you're on a tight budget and worry about some bills being paid on time then just wait and try to get a free beta invite or play the ru version or wait til launch, you can always upgrade later.

I would probably add that if one is the type of person who, if spending on something unknown, gets pissed, angry, rants and raves then give it a pass.
I would also add that if one needs to ask the question then they might just consider passing as well.

There are probably going to be more key giveaways. I would keep an eye out for those. You'd be best off getting a key for cb1 and cb2 and then spending the 100 on the game when it comes out in the cash shop. You'll get a lot more for your money (although hopefully not in any way that gives you an advantage ).
From all I've seen and read and played in the RU version, the game is definitely 100% worth buying. There's no need to go crazy about it though.
Pre order scams are LONG LONG over MANY years ago.The reason back then was manufacturing was slow ,getting copies of games to the store was slow,so there was a very good chance you would not get to play the game when released.
This is no longer the case and EVERY game is a pre order or founders or whatever other gimmick you want to call it.I very highly doubt there will be any problem getting into BD and especially since it is a download lol.
Beta, how can anyone still use the term so loosely, they are pre hype marketing tools to support >>>>Pre orders..Founder packs etc etc.Even funnier is still to this day i see people defending bad games claiming "it's only beta, not the real version ,umm yeah ok keep telling yourself that.
The only FACT that really matters is the game worth 100 bucks?Nope,no game is unless it is actually a MMO design to create a DIFFERENT atmosphere than a single player game, other than adding a login screen. If you feel the game does offer longevity as a true MMO game interacting with others, then only you can decide if 100 is fair value for an enhanced single player game that we usually pay 50-60 bucks for.So is the the login screen worth another 40 or so you decide.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

This game is not worth fronting 100 bucks. As has been suggested, get into the beta test and see what you think. If you like it, get the $29.99 version (You have to buy to play, and really, looking at what you get there is really no reason at all to get the $99.99 version, IMO). The business model they are using is the same as Guild Wars, you buy the game and then pay for expansions, no monthly fee. There is no monetary reason to spend more unless you HAVE to get into the head start EARLY. Everything else in the founders packages will be long forgotten a month into the game. Blade & Soul's best package includes a lot of things that would cost real money, so it is worth paying for. But all of the stuff in the founders packs you can get in-game (other than titles), so save the leftover $60 to buy expansion packs.
I won't be playing B&S, and I am in CB1 for BDO (thank you MMORPG!), and I will reserve judgement on buying this game until I try it.
The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!
