Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

There is literally NO MMORPG's to play, at all.

Seriously, I was just scrolling down the list of highly rated and released MMO's and none of them sounded appealing. Like literally every single one of them was just giving me a sour feeling and making my head spin.

One of the top rated "MMO's" on this site right now is SMITE. SMITE is a moba!! Its not even an MMO!

ESO is repetitive, FF14 is nothing but grind, Secret World is all mystery no substance, Guild Wars 2 is just Meh.

Literally nothing, you know what I want?

COH

SWG

Everquest 1999

Anything that just lets me make a character in an RPG and head out in the world looking for adventure and danger.

Im sick of hand holding, im sick of exclamation marks above peoples heads, im sick of soloing the content and feeling like a god at level 1. I want a challenge, I want to live in a VIRTUAL WORLD again.

I agree man. I wish we could go back to the table top theme mmo... leave a lot up to the imagination. Give us a character sheet, a virtual world with hidden lore.. but everything seems to be just a flashy gimmick that you see walking through a carnival. Each venue begging you and enticing you to play their game.

The only one that still does it is Eve Online, and that game has a learning curve the size of Mt. Everest.  The issue is that all of us who liked those games grew up and now are stuck working, exercising, cooking, etc.  We need MMOs that appeal in the sense you are describing, but that let us participate in some way autonomously while we are working.  Maybe let us go do gathering for materials via a light client that we can access using a mobile phone or low powered work machine, or queue up activities like crafting components or other details.

How this gets implemented would be up to a developer, but it's the only way I feel like we will get that living world feeling again.  That way we can devote what time we do have in the evening to leveling parties or other group activities.

Better try Darkfall: Unholy Wars before they pull the plug on it. Or one of the old Darkfall reboots.

I also wish there was risk involved in adventuring in a mmo these days. It's all hand-carrying and babysitting players to win, afraid that if they lose they'll quit and go play something else.

Alas, that's what the vast majority wants, so we're out of luck. Hey, we complained when people called us nerds and said playing videogames was an antisocial thing. We helped open the mmo's to the ignorant mainstream. Now this is what we get. Games made for the ignorant mainstream.

My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

There's plenty of mmos to play, you've just apparently outgrown what there is to offer. Older style mmos most likely won't exist outside of small indie attempts, because they aren't all that appealing to the masses. The older games exist, but of course they are limited by their age and overall lack of polish compared to contemporary games.

You might need to look into another genre all together. The multiplayer survival games seem to offer a lot of what "old school" gamers seem to crave. Punishing worlds, deeper mechanics, grinds that have a purpose, etc.

Blame companies all wanting to go for the biggest audience possible instead of actually designing a game.  :(

Two of the MMORPG's you wish you could play were developed by SOE.

But in another thread you were cheering the demise of SOE.

Maybe if more players supported the companies that made MMORPG's instead of holding some bizarre grudge.

Might want to get your priorities straight.

    Everquest 1999"

So what is stopping you from playing the very easy to access versions of these which exist online? Are you sure that's what you actually want?

This person hates everything about SoE but apparently loved their games. He needs to get over it and accept SoE made the best mmorpg of all time and play EQ2.

Metallica made three good albums, Kill em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets.

Since then all they have made is shit albums, just like SOE made shit games after EQ2.

Metallica isnt a good band, SOE wasnt a good company, it doesnt mean everything they made was shit, but the most recent majority is.

Theres really no explaining to do here.

OP - what you are literally describing is a personal problem.

Just because you don't like the current mmorpg games does not mean that they are not worth playing for millions that enjoy them.

The gaming world does not revolve around individuals whims and wishes.
On the flip side of that, cant you also say there are millions who arent getting the type of MMO they want, and that they find current MMO's not worth playing?

Its almost like theres two sides to this or something?

You literally act like you don't know what the word literally means.  There are lots of games to play.

If you don't like the games that are the most popular, then try looking at other, less popular games.  If you can't find any MMORPG on the market that you like, then you don't like MMORPGs, so I'd question why you're posting here to complain about that.

mmorpg's started with p2w and grinding.  Go play age of conan on the pvp server.
Are you onto something or just on something?

You are rejecting a number of games because they are repetitive, grindy, no substance and meh, yet you want to play other repetitive, grindy, no subsctance and meh mmos that are also outdated and clunky/dead

Im confused. There are plenty to choose from.

Yep, a personal issue.  I'd certainly love to have City of Heroes back, and the present slate of MMOs don't have deep appeal to me.   But that's mostly on me.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

wait for Camelot Unchained.  Its due out in late 2016 or 2017.  thats about your only next best bet.  well that or chronicles of elyrria or these ones that mmorpg covers to death. crowfall too, that one is covered to death as well. basically if a developer from chronicles of elyria or crowfall farts, it will be covered on this site.

those are probably themeparks so maybe just wait for camelot unchained hehe.

But why? Why is that just on you? Its on me too, so obviously its not personal than, this is a over-arching issue that effects alot of people, and alot of different type of gamers.

MMOs arent just for MMO players, they are for RPG players, SIM players, FPS players, MMO's literally represent the greatest opputunity to challenge online gameplay and the idea is being wasted on F2P linear garbage-trash piece games.

We need innovation, we need to stop stagnating and bring back the things weve lost before we reach the MMOPOCALYPSE.

Both True and False. MMO's may have started with Grinding, but P2W is a product of Free2Play. Subs or Pay2Play is not Pay to win. You cannot win or lose if you don't pay, you just don't play.

Yep. There is the side where companies like to make money, and making games that millions want to play accomplishes this. Then there is the side where very loud and persistent individuals scream they want something, trying to claim that millions of others want it too.
