is that  your way of suggesting that overall touch is more important than the other sense because of sex?

so VR isnt VR without sex? is that what you are getting at?

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Virtual Reality will have to combine all senses for it to be worth it. I don't want to go into another reality where I lose my touch, taste and smell.

VR for me isn't about gaming. It's more about engaging in a virtual world. Virtual worlds have been utter trash so far without VR.

    Love it.

But hey, if people like it, and want to spend their money on it, then so be it.
    You really believe that?

Just like when cell phones came out, everyone thought they were ridicilous and now see how much they are evolved.

    Let's see here:

    Phone to Cell Phone:

Went from a bulky, wired device with a dial in your home to a multimedia communication device with camera, games, music and much more.

Added convenience, usability, social features: +9000

    Monitor to VR:

Went from a LCD/OLED Monitor with 4K resolution, 10bit color to a bulky, heavy headset with bad resolution screen door effect and motion sickness that shuts you out completely.

Added convenience, usability, social features: -90000

I think it is pretty clear why the Mobile Phone is a success and why VR failed the first time and will fail again.

PS:  Before you say the first mobile phone was also bulky and heavy, yeah it was but it had no wires and it was convenient and did not shut you out form your surroundings.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.  The people whining about VR on this forum are simply broke.  They don't want to spend money on new tech.  It's the same reason why they are on mmorpg.com.  Because the vast majority of mmo's are free or super cheap entertainment.  So they are constantly trying to convince themselves that this new VR era is stupid, so they don't have to go out and spend some money.

Because if they were REAL GAMERS like people that play MMO's are supposed to be, then they would be more interested in trying out this new immersive tech, before scoffing at it.

    Cheapskates....period.

there is nothing new under the sun, this is one of those situation our reach exceeding our grasp, until now we didn't really have the means to make a good vr experience, it was just a small monitor that was strapped to your head, no that we have head tracking software and the numerous thing developed for smart phones, not to mention 5 or so companie each developing their own vr headset, we are at the dawn of a new concepts that have talked about. You have facebook, razer, valve, sony and htc making stuff sony already mention 40+ games the will use vr and pc already has games that will use vr headsets after I say 2 years you will see each released and then prices will drop, new tech always comes out expensive it won't fail due to price but due to poor marketing, accesories and software will be the downfall of vr assuming they don't make your eyes bleed like virtual boy if used correctly like in a fps it would change they way we all play. Is it too much to ask untill this holiday season when two or three of them hit the selves before we gather our pitchforks and torches and claim it's doomed cause if half-life 3 is exclusive to vr...you would be throwing money at the screen

My point is that REAL gamers are all about immersion.  We buy the bigger TV's/monitors, the surround sound speakers/headphones, etc.  REAL gamers are excited for the next page of immersion evolution.  If someone hasn't tried the new VR yet, I understand being skeptical about it.  But downright bashing it, saying it's stupid, etc., just shows their stubbornness.  And it proves they aren't a real gamer.

Probably the same people that always have to be playing competitive games like MOBA's or PVP mmo's.  Just another "sport" to them.  They care nothing for innovation or immersion.

we all remember how 3D displays in gaming was going to be the new thing. look where it is now.... oh yeah, no one cares about it.

Sad reality is, VR will have its hype. It will have its white knights, then when it is not what it seems, people will abandon ship to the next "NEW" technology... but then again, this is coming from someone who only plays on 1080p because i care nothing about UHD/QHD. If i wanted realism, i would go outside and play a sport, i would go shoot my guns, i would go drive my car etc etc.

Real gamer's buy bigger TV's or monitors ? you got no clue what you are saying.

If i take out my optonica beamer and use my 127 inc projector am i a real gamer then ?

Or.... are you saying that real gamer are people that spend lots of money on useless hardware real gamers ?

B.T.W. if the HTC Vive was 599,- i would have ordered it :) (its 650,- btw)

How can VR become as convenient, social and practical as a mobile phone. It will always be just a replacement for a display device and it will always shut you out completely and it will always do just one thing: Display something.

VR has nowhere to go. It is what it is. An alternative display device that is always going to be worse than Monitors and AR or Holographic Displays.

You are right, people are distracted but it does not physically lock you out as a VR headset does. It does not counter the points i made though so i have no idea why you posted it.
