Your earlier claim that "What you showed is a tech demo of a concept product similar to how the first Microsoft Surface product was presented and never went anywhere retail" is just plain wrong.
and that is cute and all thanks for the meaningless correction but it doesnt change what my point was and my example still works.
so i ask again, what is your point in bringing that to our attention? just random hairsplitting without any regard whatsoever to the larger point?
OH WAIT! i GOT IT!
i see what you are saying you are saying that Hololense will be just as successful as the orginal Microsft Surface. gotcha...which is what I was saying to. i see we are on the same page now sorry

I see people using Surface all the time - it's in a lot of TV shows, it's on CNN, it's on sports casts, it's in Kiosks all over.
It isn't meant to be used in the home.
I see people using VR in .... sci fi movies.
its in kiosks all over??
reallly? like where I used to live in one of the largest cities in the country and I never saw it in the wild and you know why? because it requires external cameras to work for starters.
What you are seeing on CNN is NOT I repeat NOT the same technology as the original Microsoft Surface.
For some history the Original Microsoft Surface was an attempt at an interactive surface which was done in a different way from ALL of the interactives surfaces we now see today. From my understanding not to long after the Microsoft Surface was revealed someone (not microsoft) had invented a better way that didnt require mounted cameras in a room for it to work. as a result the rest is history

You never saw it in the wild because you have to take off the VR helmet first.

Minecraft VR is the first and only killer app I've seen for VR in general. I don't care for minecraft personally, but it is a very very popular title and I can see it moving VR units and people upgrading their systems for it.
Side note - You can't just call stuff 'killer apps', killer apps are determined by massive public reception/interest. Like the first xbox had just a solitary killer app, Halo. Just one. It defined that console and legitimized xbox's place in the console wars. Sure it had much better games, like Ninja Gaiden and Otogi Myth of Demons, but those were a niche games despite beyond some of the best games of that generation whereas Halo is distinctly mediocre.

well personally I dont think any 'killer app' is even need to begin with.
second off I personally consider Eve Valkire the killer app.
Thirdly, just because Microsoft paid 2 billion dollars for game that othewise would never EVER be considered a killer app doesnt magically make it so.
ADDED: what was the 'killer app' for the PC?
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
yeah I think that is 2 of 100 planned this year to add to the already existing 176.
Is Rock Band a "AAA" game or does that not count because you dont want it too?
No it's all great, I'm genuinely excited for you.
I do hope VR turns out to be game changing, lord knows we could use a shakeup in the industry. But forgive my pessimism, I just don't believe that VR will be it. I think it's an awful lot of hype - just like a lot of other fads, and while it may make a big splash, I don't think it'll be around for long.

well for the purposes of what i was saying,
I dont think it or the PC or anything else for that matter even needs a 'killer app' but I think for all intents and purposes it already has more than one anyway
